90s, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore.. The season wore a festive & fancy look with silk kurthas, silk sarees, cars galore.. In the midst of all this, a cycle rickshaw pulls over, out comes the great man Mahavidwan MSG, clad in purest of white Khadar veshti and kurtha, after settling the fare for his ride, briskly walked past us to the stage with his warm smile all along. A magical solo followed with UKS Sir... To the days when Vidwath was high and rest all were secondary! Just for sheer simplicity, that scene will always travel with me, till my very last!!
Excellent..! Tears roll down my eyes when I think of Shri MSG..
MSG ji's virtuoso technique is unique and undefinable, and like the great composer trinity, he stands tall among the violin trinity of Lalgudi Jayaraman and TN Krishnan. I am always reminded of MSG while listening to my favorite Itzhak Perlman melodies. :-)
After around 2005 i stopped going to Sabhas! Music has become T20 then itself ! Traditions , smoothness taking a back seat! Pure commercialisation! Only rupee rupee everywhere!
Old is gold! And MSG is the purest of them all. How often we have enjoyed his music from close quarters!
S. Sundaredan
MSG was able to capture even the inhaling and exhaling in the violin he was playing. Such was his perfection. Thanks for uploading this lovely video.
Grand concert by great vidwans. Many thanks for sharing the same.
Incredible concert. A treasure to be preserved - not found today
Thanks for uploading the only one MSG ( esp solo concert)...very rare to see solo version...mesmerizing
The only Unmatched artiste.
MSG WAS JUST MSG NOBODY COULD COME CLOSE TTO HIM.
Excellent concert. MSG is unique in his fingerings and bowing techniques. This aspect is always evident in his concerts
Critic Subbudu, who was really critical of many senior vidwans, once wrote: Violin is a western instrument. If there is one instrument in India matching that, it is of MSG's! Height of instrumental perfection and tonal efficiency. Without shame, I concede: I don't have words in my dictionary to describe his music.". On another occasion of areview, he wrote: .......That day MSG was on violin. What else to say? Immaculate bowing and impeccable fingering! Madhura Suswara Gopalakrishnan.
Never before,never After. MSG

Very nice
❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
Should have provided 3 more minutes for the Thani avarthanam as we had 3 senior percussionists... They had to play together from the start... No solo...
Awesome 🙏
👌👌🙏🙏👌👌🙏🙏🌷🌷
In my openion there was not even a single violinist or any type of istrumentalist who can trasform the listeners in a inexplicable wòrld of imagination and iprovisation as if MSG was capable, almost as an inborn gift-' so let me maintain that thetre was no exisyance of any an exceptional genius ,before -or ,probably after MSG era Such flowers are once in a blue moon........
Thanks for uploading excellent concert. Keep uploading the concerts like this. Happy to see all the senior artists on the stage
Out of my curiosity how do you compare MSG with LALGUDI. I admire both.
Both are geniuses. Their style of playing is totally different. Both are from different schools.
But to me, Parur style is close to my heart.
