Sorry to here about your loss thanks for taking the time for another informative video I took all my vics out and looked them over no old ones like that but still cool 😎
That is a neat looking knife. That would be cool with the pliers. I am glad they are out of my price range lol. Sorry for your family's loss my friend. May they rest in heavenly peace. You folks have a wonderful week my friend. God Bless.
Sorry about your recent family loss. I find hook removers to be cruel and unusual punishment for the fish. I think needle nose pliers are less painful for both the fish and the angler. The earliest Fisherman/Anglers has a bale instead of key ring. Nice run down.
@@rasputinscastle, I’m not sure. From what I have read, both the scaler and the back Phillips driver with both introduced in 1952. At that time the Sportfisher was introduced in two models. (Phillips/corkscrew). The blue scales were very early. I know there are version with out the fish but most have had it. Some of the early scissors for these models had a divot in the scissors handle the was a used to clamp lead weights.
I'm Sorry for your loss just take your time Brother. I'm afraid to get near that Rabbit hole they call SAK. I'm in a Dr's knife hole rite now go figure! Thanks for sharing
@radar468 The plus models add a metal file or saw. So I'd like a plus with the pliers. It's handy to have scissors for cutting line. I always used my teeth, but at 65, my teeth aren't sharp anymore. 😁😄🤪🙃
I recently bought a new Angler and I was so disappointed that the fish was printed in the scale. As of this date they are still available on amazon... probably with the printed fish.
@George_Lewis I'd find one with the inlaid fish and sell the other. I feel you, though, on the disappointment. It was very disappointing to have your hopes dashed. 🙂
@@rasputinscastle Thank you for your thoughts. I put some Faustgrip traction scales on it. They are like sandpaper, have adhesive on the back and you apply them to the existing scales. They cover up the printed fish but not the Swiss Army Cross and I now keep the knife in my tackle box. Yes, I'm looking for an older knife in excellent shape, either a Fisherman or Angler will do.
@@rasputinscastle BTW... The Swiss Army cross is also printed on the scale. Fortunately, all of my other recent SAK purchases have the metal inlay cross.
you forgot to mention on the really old ones there was no cross shield and the fish was up high where the cross shield would be. The old blue ones are awesome and crazy over priced. The fish shield goes back to the 50's and the printed on fish are awful just like the printed camp shield is also. BTW your Fisherman is probably between 83 and 85
@MrPsiman Thanks 😊. As soon as I read the history, I went on eBay and found a blue scale with the fish printed on the back. Literally, within an hour of receiving the Red one, I bought another one 🙃 🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇😁🤪
Thanks for sharing brother 🤙
@@piperkennard1039 You're welcome 😊
Very cool i always carryied the one with pliers on the river growing up.
I had the mechanic and deluxe tinker for the pliers
@@TimothyCibula-vh5ip Yeah, I'm going to have to get one with pliers.🌀🌪🙂
Heck yes they are nice for fishing
Awesome info, buddy!👍

@jeffjackson5331 Thanks Jeff 😞. I bought that knife for $25 on eBay. That's like $7 in 1970 dollars. That's how I justify buying knives. 😊😄🤪😁
@@rasputinscastle you are very welcome Mike. That is one way of looking at it lol. They are pretty cool looking knife sets.
Was wondering why the one I have did not have the package hook, thank you, very interesting video.
@JoseGonzalez-yx6vm They added the package hook in 1991. You're welcome, brother 🙂
This is a really neat one!!!
@RandysWSG the blue scales are rare. I was able to get one off eBay. Rabbit 🐇 hole. 😄🤪

@@KnifeChatswithTobias Did the early ones have a fish 🐟 🤔

@dougwatkins5441 Thanks, Doug. I'd like to get a vintage doctors knife. One that's pre-1920.🐇🐇🐇🐇
My condolences. I almost think I want the pliers more.

I ordered the angler i really hope it's not the fisherman because pliers are far more valuable to me when I can just cut the line with the knife
@michaelstewart7036 Yep, the pliers work for me better. 🙂
