What I like most about the Barlow is how it fits in the hand. Easy to grip. Most of them also have strong springs, gator snap, and strong construction. It could be called the original EDC knife because the design dates back centuries.
The Barlow is such a basic and utilitarian design, I always think it's funny to see fancy Barlows. The ultimate Barlow for me is an old school Imperial.
@StephenWorth Obadiah Barlow created the Barlow as a cheap and rugged boys knife. He imagined those boys would grow up and buy more expensive knives. I think it worked.🤔🙂 Thanks, Stephen. 🙏
@@mgra1969 New knives are tools. Vintage knives are more like a book. A depository of memories. They can also be like treasures, like your grandfather's knife. 🙏
Cool tins! I'll have to start showing some of my antiques on my channel. I wanna pick up a prince Albert tin someday. Love the barlows! They do have a huge evolution. Thanks for sharing Mike!🙂👍🏻
I like that one with the koon on it cause I love hunting and both of my Grandaddy's and my Dad taught me how to trap them as a kid and other critters cause my grandaddy and great Grandaddy's use to sell furs when the market was up!! They both owned and managed their own land, I love hunting and fishing and I manage 146 acres of my grandparents and family land.. But yeah very cool knife for doing those things it definitely brings back memories.. Thanks for sharing brother ✌️👊😎
My two ore ‘64 Case Barlows have the clip point blade in the back pin blade up front on the show side , but my ‘70’s CASE Barlows have the clip point up front on the show side and pin blade in the back. An ‘80’s CASE I have also has the clip point blade on the show side like the modern barlows have. All Great knives and an excellent video Sir
Don’t keep reading Jim Barlow is not high on my patterns that I like. I only own one, Case 6.5 1st run that I so badly want to put on the sander and thin the scales. That Boker there would be the one I’d tote. But the Schrade is neat, if it only had a spear.

Really nice pieces, neat to see the differences in them. Thanks for sharing and have a great blessed day.

I've carried a 2 blade imperal Barlow most of my life. Thank you very much for sharing
@jasonbeecher509 I've got a couple Imperial barlows. Gator snaps. 👍
One of my first knives was a Barlow by Ranger from my Grandfather. While probably not monetarily valuable, it's precious to me.

I love em all! Those are some real gems. Great collection! Appreciate you taking the time to share this! Keep up the great work!
@davidwilliams1805 Thanks, brother 🙏
That’s a neat plug tin. Grew up in KY cutting and chewing but never saw a tin before.
@@casexx94 I'm thinking pre 1940 on it. I like little things like that.👍

Beautiful knives Mike. It's interesting to see each different companies take on a certain pattern like these.

@danedwards8535 Thanks, Dan. On a barlow, the main blade in the back definitely looks better. It makes you wonder, though. 🤔
Well you have a least 2 Wheeler Basin knives. Start of collection?

@@casexx94 I'm with you on the barlow. Sanding is chancey. You never know how deep the dye is.
I've never carried Barlow's because they take up too much space in my pocket that's the only reason.
@madtownangler I like the bigger ones, but the regular size ones are too small for me. 🙂
@@madtownangler they do make single blade barlows now and they are pen knife small jack knife width and very pocket friendly
