In the real thing you'll probably get jumped somewhere the DI's wont see. Hell sometimes not even that. Saw some kid getting stomped on with a heavy just standing there watching with his clipboard.
It's called a "blanket party". We did a VERY toned down blanket party on one of the guys in my barracks when I was in BCT (FT Jackson SC 1999) because he kept waking up late; leaving dust bunnies and coat hangers on the floor and the rest of us were getting into trouble for not "squaring him away". Our DS even hinted that we should do a blanket party but without coming right out and saying he (he said "I know y'all seen Full Metal Jacket"). Apparently back home he was used to his mommy picking his trash behind him. So we put rolled up socks inside socks (instead of the way it's usually done - a bar of soap either in a sock or towel) - it wasn't nearly as brutal as what you saw in FMJ but it got the point across. Probably because we told him "next time it won't be socks", from that day forward he got up on time and quit leaving trash all over the floor. For the record... there is no such thing as "too much Full Metal Jacket" unless you're a candy ass; cake eating civilian.
