- Iraq’s $4 BILLION Gamble To Save A Collapsing Mega Dam - Mosul Dam
Iraq is a country that has faced profound challenges in the 21st century, enduring extensive devastation and turmoil. But despite the trials, Iraq continues to survive. Yet many are unaware that Iraq’s greatest threat is yet to come. Situated in Iraq's northern desert, is a mega dam that looms ominously and is a potential catastrophe waiting to happen, capable of unleashing death and devastation downstream where millions reside. It is often said that the collapse of this dam would be worse than a nuclear bomb explosion. Amidst Iraq’s crises and conflicts, this mega dam's instability has been a persistent spectre haunting the country for generations. It's even considered a miracle that the structure has endured this long. Today, let’s delve into the impending collapse of Iraq’s Mosul Dam, exploring its construction origins, its pivotal role in Iraq, and the contentious efforts to secure its stability.

Why ask 12 - 15 technically advanced countries for advice on the damn. They all told you NOT to build it there as it was not a stable area ,but you knew better. Pride comes ... then the fall!!!
not as really pride as much as it rushing the damn thing.
they build that thing like a goddamn playground club house 💀💀
and this is coming from an iraqi.
The world says its a bad spot for a dam. In comes China, have you heard of Tofu? We can make anything stick. Iraq, yea we'll take some of that.
I like your coment to the point
sounds like a horrific disaster. but if it happens i hope they are filming it
No concrete action!
I'll make popcorn.
The cameraman always survives
You can't help people who choose to ignore sound advice - they have to learn the hard way.
What is sound advice..Americans dams are falling apart
@@garyallport18 how old is hoover dam ?
*The financial market is pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do the right math, you should be just fine. Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of folks gaining over 250k just in a matter of weeks/couple months, so I think there are a lot of wealth transfer in this downtime if you know where to look.*
I feel Investors should exercise caution with their exposure and.exercise caution when considering new investments, particularly during periods of inflation. It is advisable to seek guidance from a professional or a licensed expert in order to navigate this recession and achieve potential high yields
Interesting, This is superb! Information, as a noob it gets quite difficult to handle all of this and staying informed is a major cause, how do you go about this are you a pro Investor?
Mrs Tracy Britt Cool Consulting was my hope during the 'bear summer' last year. I did so many mistakes but also learned so much from it, and of course from Tracy.
the first step to successful investing is figuring out your goals and risk tolerance either on your own or with the help of a financial professional but is very advisable you make use of a professional.
YES!!! That's exactly her name (Tracy Britt Cool Consulting)
3 cubic kilometers = 0.719738 cubic miles NOT 11.1 cubic miles. You have it backwards. 11.1 cubic Kilometers = 2.663032 cubic miles.
I noted the same and checked through the comments to see if I was the only person who had viewed this rubbish and taken note. I am glad that there was you and a few likes. Most of the other comments are from "wise guys" .... or is that "stupid little boys being stupid". I gave up at 5 minutes. None of the other statistics are to be trusted. 4.08+ The dam does NOT affect flood risk UPSTREAM. It has some influence on reducing flood damage DOWNSTREAM ! .... Click bait.
A dozen other countries said this is a bad idea. Shocking china said ignore them, we can do this 😂
Reminds me of the fertilizer stored in the Beirut warehouse for years that blew up; lots of inaction and then disaster. I hope they'll have adequate time to set up and film the dam collapse, triggering a investigation of how this could ever happen.
All of these issues can easily be overcome by hiring Chinese engineers to certify the damn is all good and as solid as the day it was built
Dam is better that when built - just look at our smiling faces of happiness after getting paid - ha ha he he
Fong cong certifying certification
Nah, they need that 4 billion for weapons.
$4 billion to fix ? Thats cheap :-) Considering the alternative .
GO TO ''IRAN '' AND ASK FOR HELP BCOZ THAT COUNTRY IS YOUR BESTFRIEND
China to the rescue! C'mon, Xi, send in the cavalry.
Tofu dreg cavalry.
@@rempseaheinamies9414 LOL😂
With the two rivers drying up, it's not going to happen for a while.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ ezy peazy be sure to have 24/7 cameras recording the dam ….. let’s all go to Sugar rock Candy Mountain
I hate the ai voice, but the info is good.
I Have Been Here.
Just imagine that with all the information, I've never seen the Iraqi flag.
It’ll be grand.
Awesome!!
3:25 "Dam's Reservoir can hold nearly 3 cubic km of water equivalent to 11.1 cubic miles." Utter horse manure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3 cubic km = 0.719738275 cubic miles. 11.1 cubic miles = 46.2668 cubic km. "At full capacity, the structure holds about 11.1 cubic kilometres of water - Wikipedia."
*3 cubic km = .72 cubic miles, not 11 3:32
That's AI for you. Not only is the voice AI there is probably no actual human involved in the entire making of this video. Lol
YEAH, YOU ARE RIGHT. I think the AI had too much electricity passing through it's programme and got confused. The actual volume of water behind the dam is closer to 3 cubic miles and 11 cubic kilometres. A Google search shows it as 2.7 cubic miles and 11.1 cubic kilometres.
@@michaelkent1750 I just asked the AI Bard, and it got it right.
Allah can fix this?
Allah has not control over this mis management
Your Jesus can fix this?
@R : Jesus walks on water. Why bother damming it? :D
Why would Allah fix this problem?
If Allah fixes it, then who learns from the mistakes?
Video please!
3 cubic kilometers is not 11.1 cubic miles. You have it backwards. You must be a robot.
Don't know the difference between miles and kilometers?
Sounds like a rock needs to suck it up and fix the dam
Build a canal and reroute the river.
Am no dam engineer , got to meet them at Water Affairs here in South Africa , mid 80 s
As mentioned here , seepage is an issue .
Dare I say with any dam .
Just the huge pressure of water involved , finds its way through very small places .
Back then , the idea was to drill seepage holes below the dam , slide in preformed tubular filter screens and ' gravel pack ' , , theory being that the seepage would be drained off in a fairly ' safe ' area as it would follow line of least resistance .
My 10c worth :-)
Damn!
Gods will be done.
Talk about your 1000 dams that are falling apart
COME ON MAN these the same people who said the WORLDS ocean would rise 100 feet with the melting of glaciers and look where that got the world
Tufo dam.
mosul dam was unmaintained during US wars, that is a big cause of what we are seeing.
Sorry for your bias & not listening to the video - This dam suffers from water seepage under its foundation since its operation in 1986 which grouting operations were implemented since that time to overcome this problem. This seepage is believed to be due to dissolution of gypsum beds under the foundation, which was not carefully considered by the designers.
Pretty sure there was colon film in 1981😊
At 1:56 "workers consisted of CHINESE NATIONALS" - What do you mean, @BillionDollarBuilds? China has been producing some of the most advanced engineering feats in recorded history and nowadays! Why so much emphasis on the "CHINESE NATIONALS" as if their work is inferior to Western countries?
No thanks
I'm sure Israeli forces would love to take care of that dam.😉
Who cares?
Is this for real or another 'if we dont take climate change seriously' blah blah, then we all die story? My cynicism gets worse as I get older....
i don't care
Who cares.
Then why comment?
@@deaneclark7786 -- Comments may help the Iraqis learn that it is their mess to fix.
