@@issenvan1050 Found the ABC news report. Deception as usually from lame stream media. Reports 'some, several states are looking to eliminate property taxes.' Truth is several are looking at increase caps (calling that eliminating property taxes). Only 2 states Idaho and Michigan are 'considering' eliminating property tax - which means 1 or more legislators made a wild statement or small study to get votes.

And here is what is totally wrong in reassessing my home value. When you get down to it, my home is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Do they have a crystal ball that tells them what someone will buy it for? What if it's totally outdated on the interior or in very bad disrepair? They have no way of knowing that. Alls, they know for sure is what I paid for it on the day I bought it. Reassessment should only happen when a property is sold.

People who complain about property taxes need to organize in their area and do something about it. If you really want things to change for the better. Sitting on the sidelines and complaining about it doesn't solve anything for anybody. It's time to start demanding to get rid of property taxes all together. Get in touch with your representatives start demanding they get rid of property taxes all together. We need to put pressure on them to change the laws to make it fair for everybody.

From federal to local county jobs there are high paying positions that bring nothing of value to taxpayers. In Seattle for example, King County has a bathroom liaison that starts at $106,000 a year. The job description is basically to communicate with the people who clean bathrooms at park n rides. These are not restrooms available to anyone but bus drivers. A simple schedule would eliminate the liaison position. Eventually this liaison may have an assistant, then a clerk or QA position. The umbrella just expands to the point nobody really does anything but collect a check. The socialist expansion needs to stop and be wiped clean. They always claim they’re out of money

I'm sorry for responding here but all the other comments seem to share your viewpoint and I am the opposing viewpoint that people need to hear. Think about it for a second if land costs nothing to maintain we don't want the billionaires buy ALL OF THE LAND WITH NO TAXES SO THE PRICES RISE INFINITELY UNTIL LAND COSTS BILLIONS. The founding fathers thought we should tax land and not income because our income goes back into the economy and that was the idea. Imagine competing with George Soros and Bill gates to buy up the land because If I was a billionaire I would enter a bidding war with all the other billionaires to buy the entire country until there is nothing left. Its crazy that so many people will support removing property tax without putting in the most basic level of forethought into what would happen in a real world situation. Feel free to prove me wrong I believe in free speech and constructive criticism. I think these comments are ignorant and blue pilled into an emotional response before a logical one.

my property tax. melloroos, and association all amont to about 700 a month. It would be swell to move into a place that didn't have associations but every neighborhood in my city does as it used to be farmland and the housing is all less than 20 years old. unless you buy one of the very few remaining old farms (which are not in good shape).
My association does next to nothing. In 10 years they've repainted the houses once and repaved the streets once. there are probably 500 houses in this association and they are all occupied. don't ask me where the money goes. totally mismanaged.
So that said every month I break even. I don't eat out, I don't have cable or any services besides prime (which saves me money in the end due the free deliveries) i eat hamburger and rice for 3/4 of my meals.... and I break even.
If I was not burning 700 a month, I might actually be able to save for my future. I cannot afford to live anywhere else, I can't seem to find a comperable job in another city.
      Man am I trying.
feels bad. I have 2 degrees and 15 years experience in tech. I'm working 60 hours a week and im drowning because of taxes and fees. if i could actually bring home most of what i make. I'd have a future. and maybe something to eat besides hamburger.

I've always thought property taxes were a joke. So you buy a house pay it off, you will never own it because you are quite literally renting it from the taxation authority. If you stop paying these theft property taxes, they will seize your home and sell it out from under you to recoup the taxes. The entire tax structure is misused and misguided into paying for other pet projects not intended therefore shorting the intended use causing those original taxes to be increased, rinse and repeat over and over again. This is in large part why the working class pays around 45% of their wages in total taxes. Your total taxes paid should be around 10%.

Also they give them self raises while the American people get cost of living increases, which only feed, things like insurances. The people can never get ahead, being manipulated, by the system. SS gets a raise, then they take, people snap benefits away. They need to update, all the agencies, to adjust to the actual, cost of living but that never happens. Housing is so high, that people who need rentals, cannot afford them. Section 8 housing is backed up 15 year, while elderly housing, is about the same. That’s how Massachusetts is.

Look at, air bags, they add thousands to the cost of cars, then your child has to have five car seats, before they turn 12. The registry is another scam, while I do not approve of drunk driving, who gave them the right, to decide penalties, I thought that’s what courts were for. People try to get their licenses back and it’s a runaround, more money, you have to this or that, which never seems to end.

There can be NO private property located within the United States because you NEVER paid for it. You USED Federal Reserve Notes or debt instruments to PURCHASE not buy a home. You have equitable title, NOT legal title. When you purchase "property", you have the right to USE it without liability, ie to be sued without paying for it. The government considers this a BENEFIT and the fact that you used the private credit or federal reserve note means you have CONSENT to accept the benefit subject to the liability. All property located within the jurisdiction of the US is owned by the US government IN trust and has an IRRECUSABLE FIRST LIEN RIGHT UPON IT - since it has not been paid for. This includes the bank account, pension account, car, home, etc. The government has the legal right to confiscate what you think is your property. THAT IS THE LAW!

Can you rent out rooms? One has to be flexible & adapt if life changes. You will be surprised: learn how to select the right people & give them a nicely furnished room (from Thrift stores) with cheap rent, access to a kitchen, polite landlord, they will stay for years. The rent you are collecting MUST BE just enough to cover the Property Taxes, Insurance & Utilities. Don't try to make more money as a second income, the rooms will be too expensive. You must calculate carefully- just to cover the property expenses is plenty. Impose house rules & give it to possible renters from day one. If they don't pay their rent, after 3 days give them an eviction note, don't wait & let them B.S you with excuses. They can pay half of the rent now than keep looking for more income & eventually will catch up on their payments. I dealt with tenants for 15 years, if you follow my experience you will offset the rising cost of everything. One must be willing to adapt to changes. Good Luck & be brave!

First of ALL, Property Taxed ARE Unconstitutional! WE the people are suppose to Have the RIGHT to property, We are Not suppose to be RENTERS anymore, But WE AER RENTERS to the REAL OWNERS of the property, the public Servants who have Now become the Public MASTERS! Lets understand this quote, "When Legal Plunder becomes a Way of Life for Those living together in society, in time THEY establish a Legal system to Justify IT, And a moral code to Glorify IT!!!!!!" These Public Masters like school teachers should Not have Carte Blanc over the people who bought a house. Public school teachers should not be paid forever by the homeowners even if these home owners do not use the school systems!!! The home owners are paying These teachers long after They retire even to another lower tax tax, for their pensions!
The only reasons WHY the Supreme Court has Not. ruled on the constitutionality of property taxes is because this has NEVER been brought forward, because THOSE that Benefit from these taxes are to powerful and to connected.
NO One who thinks they are purchasing a home, should maybe LOSE their house because of rising property taxes the mostly go to these Public MASTERS!!!! These Public Matters are nothing more than PARASITES! SORRRY but this is the way it is.

The county I live in has capped property taxes at 10%. Typically, the county appraiser arbitrarily appraises homes and commercial properties to the 10% max. I live in an older neighborhood with no new homes being built or available lots to build on to justify the increase land and home values. The county appraiser doesn't compare apples to apples. They go by sales comps and lump all homes in the neighborhood the same as if the home has sold. This is very unfair to homeowners who are not selling their homes. Such a scam they have going! Every year I file a property tax protest, prepare a market analysis, create my strategy for the informal hearing and pray I get a property value reduction. I have received a $10k to $20K value reduction, but guess what the county appraiser does. The next year, they ramp up the property value to the 10% max again. My home is not increasing $30K to $45K every year. It's crazy. People are so tired of the scam.

I saved the system a ton of money. Extremely unfair. This is a broken system. Strangely enough I'm pretty happy living like this. Still very unfair !

Clay county is a good county as they maintain the roads, provide services, have good schools and provide amenities. The county just south of us charges no impact fee, a 12 year education does not guarantee you can read or write, they have zero services and only the high valued properties pay taxes. I know that in Europe, Asia, South America, you pay no property taxes, maybe in some countries a very nominal annual fee to register the property in your name. We were told over here how high their 50% “income” taxes were in Europe, but they forgot to tell us that while they’re high, you get free higher education, free healthcare, retirement benefits, no property taxes, decently priced quality organic foods and meats you don’t pay extra for because they’re “organic”, 2 months vacation per year, the cost of living is in general cheaper until the recent energy crisis forced on Europe, clean streets, cities and countryside, etc.
A handful of people have created financial systems over the last 50-75 years meant to plunder the wealth of the citizenry here and I fear we’re in a death spiral at this point that most people don’t realize we’re in. All you have to do is look at the drug addiction, high crime in our crumbling major cities, our shoddy roads and bridges falling apart, etc. Where has all the tax money gone? My spouse and I decided to purchase our first home this year. I was afraid if we waited any longer we may never be able to buy so even with a rate of 6% we went ahead and did it. Fortunately we are a dual income household and together we make quite a bit of money. Originally we were going to purchase in Dallas which is where I am from. We also had an opportunity to move to Tennessee as I had an opportunity to start a new business with a longtime mentor of mine. We started our search in Dallas and found a home that we really liked until we saw what the yearly property tax was it was almost $10,000. Meanwhile, we found a home in Tennessee in the mountains on almost 2 acres of land and a yearly property taxes of just under $1500. There was no way I was going to pay $10,000 a year in property tax so we chose Tennessee and I am so glad we did. The Dallas area has lost their minds.

I've got some more bad news for you guys. Since 1789, when the Constitution was first written, the Federal Government has had the power of unlimited taxation. You heard that right. Unlimited taxation! The government can point to anything you "own" call it income and force you to pay taxes on it including potential profits like paper profits on stocks and other financial instruments. But where in the Constitution do the words "unlimited taxation" appear in it? They don't! It's the result of a power grab from politicians on the Supreme Court, Congress and the Executive branch.

I would rather see states eliminate income taxes. That is a compulsory tax that you have no choice on. Then we would have the choice to buy the size home and property we want - bigger home = higher taxes, smaller home = lower taxes. At least that way we have a choice. Also, eliminate the bloat in government. There are people in local government offices that will receive over $100K annually in municipal pension plan payments, plus social security, plus whatever they saved for retirement. For the most part their jobs are easier than private sector jobs. Why should I be paying for their retirement when most people who are paying taxes can barely afford to save for their own retirement? We need to get away from this idea that public service employees deserve significant retirement benefits. Eliminate fat pension benefits, and make them put money away in 401(k) plans like the rest of us.

Income tax is overrated. I moved to no income tax state. They make up for it in other areas. They take tax away from one area, they will just find a different to get the money from you

@@Smuscles7 I live in a state with no income taxes and that has saved me a ton of money. However, it has property taxes that aren't capped by law and sales taxes. I would rather have a much higher sales tax and nix the property tax. In other words, don't tax what I make and the home I live in. Everything else, tax it.

Property taxes should never have paid for schools. It is discrimination. Poorer areas get less that is not democracy.

I could never understand why we pay taxes on the land your home is on because you paid taxes when you purchased your home.

I'm currently in the Golden Handcuff stage of property ownership. Retired with a locked down tax rate. Can't sell and move less I want to do a major downsize.
