I always just added about a 1/4 cup of white vinegar to my drip tank. Adding viniger helps with the odd facet that just doesn't want to take a good polish. Trick has been around fore well over 30 years, probably over over 100.

I also like cutting CLEAN Peridot...Hate it when there are internal issues like 'Lilly Pads'.

How many time do u take to mirror polish a facet ?
I don't know if its my lap or my technique but it can take me 15 minutes more to polish a litle facet and i don't know if its normal ( i have a copper lap and path through 320 - 600 - 3000 - diamond paste polish ) on a aqua marine

Everyone is a bit different. But for my self, for small facets of Aquamarine, given that I have a 3K grit prepolish, I would say it takes about 2 seconds per facet. I know one faceter who tries to polish with one sweep or pas over the facet. I am not there yet...but I'm getting there. HOpe this helps.

Really can’t imagine what vinegar is supposed to do. Forsterite is not affected by vinegar.

I don't exactly know...but....from my experience w/the Late Jeff Graham...if he said it worked...I'm betting it worked!

Considering the Zirconium Oxide battstick worked for you, what about the Creamway lap?

    • @mikesackos2208

I use the Creamway quite often. I will give it a try w/Zirconium oxide in the near future. The only minor issue I'm having with my creamway at the moment, is when I polish the girdle of a gemstone. I believe the edge of my creamway needs a good scrubbing as I tend to get scratches...but just when I use the very edge...I don't have that problem on a Tin lap, But, when I get a moment I'll give my creamway a good scrubbing around the edges and it will be as good as new!

@@mikesackos2208 I got the Creamway after watching your videos, and absolutely love it. Works great, and fast when charged periodically with CeOx. Today, I had an issue where the Creamway was super slow polishing the table, so I switched to a CeOx ultralap and was finished in about 3 minutes.

@@Big_Dumb_Animal Yes, the table is normally the most difficult facet to polish. Sometimes the Ultralap saves the day...I think it is because it is a piece of mylar or plastic and has a bit of give in it, sometimes it is able to polish without having to use the cheater to get the entire facet polished.
