Thomas, where's your "join us in full HD, full screen & full length let's gooo" 😄
yeah and this time no "pump it up"
And the "conclusion for the day." Miss that too.
This is the one! My age doesn't fit the profile maybe but can't wait. Hope it's not too expensive!
You certainly had right of way Thomas , What was that Van driver thinking ! I agree with your saying
Awesome car , i really Love the Interior design .. I love the name Cupra Born 👍
Lee Avison
If they were sold in the states I would be a Cupra fanboy!! Everything that I’ve seen has been 🔥❤️ thanks Thomas for another excellent review.
Ah that's why I don't see much coverage about this car. Shame
If i were to buy an EV, this would be it. VW ID's aren't that good looking or exciting. This one, is a real beauty.
Australian here! So excited to hear that we are getting some more competitors in the EV market! Great looking car at, hopefully, a reasonable price.
Will be stupid expensive...
@@hyper_channel It's priced pretty much exactly like the id.3 here, you can preorder it.
It would be cheaper then id3 since cupra leon 300 is way less then mk8 gti
Cupra sell officially in Australia?
@@alfrredd I think they just joined the marked, that's why they are seeing better prices over there, they have to be aggresive now. But in EU it will be guaranteed to be a good chunk more expensive than the VW counterpart.
Škoda used physical buttons on the steering wheel of the Enyaq. Wish they had a version of the ID.3 as well.
No need, it would be too crappy
@@fachadolid3030 have you driven an ID3? I live and breathe tech but the touch controls are horrible, truly horrible. It took me a few days to even realize you could do a short click and long click of some buttons but the best I managed was a 30% accuracy. Overall they're very bad
@@fachadolid3030 do you judge on the basis of what?
The reviewer I've been waiting to review the car I may wait for. Superb detail, as always.
Why don’t we get these cars in the US 😩😩 I would take this over a tesla or that Chevy bolt crap that we have here
They're too small for the average American.
@@0farmerjohn0 Well, similar sized vehicles like the Nissan qashqai, Kia Seltos, hyundai Kona, Volkswagen Taos(AKA Seat Ateca), and subaru crosstrek have been doing pretty well here. It seems Americans will only buy hatchbacks if you trick them into thinking they are SUVs.
@@joelbielecki3501 I've almost only seen them in California. Out in the Midwest. The average owner would barely fit into the driver's seat of a full size truck.
@@0farmerjohn0 As your third car or for your youngsters?
@@joelbielecki3501 they don't get id3 then? Same car kinda
Cupra Born is my favorite when it comes to Electric small sports cars.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
When will VW make the decision to go back to physical buttons...? 🤦
VW group haptic remind me of 4 series styling mess up. You’d think large groups not just cock up. At this scale.
Huge flaw also seen in the mk8 golf
Rumour has it they will make a return for the mid life facelift of the id3.
@@NedNew Interesting, ID3 needs sharper angrier edgier looks, that and Hapics removed, job done
Their marketing dept is already trying to find a way to tell everyone physical buttons on the next generation are an innovation...
Yes please!! Bring Cupra to the US. It will do very well here.
"Holy Moley what is this"? 🤣 We love you Thomas you're the best 🤘
I enjoyed watching the Video Review . Better looking than the ID.3
Both the front and rear look nice....
Good camera quality by the way 👍
Such a great review, Danke Dir Thomas
Greetings from Australia. Always enjoy your reviews
🤘
I actually like the the dashboard with the moving screen. The capacitive buttons... not so much. Especially strange that the temperature sliders are not lit up. Car design looks cool too. I would choose Vapor Grey color. Similar colors are becoming more popular, but look interesting.
And yeah, the lorry driver made a mistake when he started moving. He had the STOP sign- he stopped. He had the mirror on the road to check for cars. He probably checked and started moving, but you just appeared when he thought that the road was clear. Stay safe! =)
Very nice! Really like this. I drove the ID.3 a couple of weeks ago. It's pretty similiar, its seems that way.
Greetings from Australia! We love the performance versions of any cars in Australia, including hot hatches. This will sell well here if priced correctly.
*I like the style of it and I'm sure it will appeal to a younger generation. Hopefully the manufacturers will get it through their thick heads that touch sensitive controls are not wanted & distractingly dangerous!*
Another great vehicle review. Really liking you injecting your humor more and more! Your jokes are sometimes very subtle, but that's why they are funny. Keep up the great work.
(Lucky to avoid that Sprinter!!)
😎👌
Love that more and more fun/sporty EVs are coming out. :)
Great news it’s coming to Australia. 👍 Love the sunroof and the sunroof cover. 😉
Very happy it is coming to Australia I didn’t expect that
Great review danke schon!
Superb review of the Cupra Born Thomas !! Again, welcome to my region of Barcelona, Sitges and Montserrat, hope you enjoyed it !!! Greetings :)
🇪🇸😍👌🏻
Honestly, I think this is the prettiest ev on the market. Especially in the blue with matching interior and the gray.
Great review again, right on the spot!! I happen to be seriously considering of ordering one, I drove it and cannot agree more on the pluses and minuses, actually and strangely enough there were only two minuses as also mentioned on this review. First and most importantly the feel of the brakes which sometimes give you the impression that they don't work well, feels like you are pushing the pedal but you cannot get the braking you expect and you are about to crash!!! I dont know why but luckily it doesn't happen all the time, I guess its a matter of familiarisation and adjustment, or a least I hope so. Secondly that loud sound of the turn signals, I cant see a reason of them being so loud, but I guess its only a matter of getting used to it! Seriously now, I think I will order it tomorrow! Good work Autogefuhl!
Thanks for the feedback 😎
This seems to be the kind of car I'm looking for, a well specced compact car with decent performance, I don't really need it to be very sporty. Looks nice too. A lot of the features on the Cupra you only get if you go for a much larger car right now, most of the compact EVs available are comparatively "feature-poor", on some of them even a reverse camera is a pricy extra. The Born is even a good bit cheaper than a similarly specced ID.3 here in Norway. I was a bit unsure about the colors but the vapor grey looks a lot better in this video than in the promo pictures, so that will probably be the color I go for.
4:50 Thomas going full Mr Moseby
Also, love the Vapor Grey color option!
Omg I’m so happy it is coming to Australia 👍
Its officially on order, 58kwh Born in vapour grey, end of year delivery, could have been sooner but I wanted it then.
Enjoy 😊
@@autogefuehl Thanks!!
🥰First time I heard you speaking German Thomas, so cool! 🥰
Thomas You are the best. Your thorough videos are very impressive. Actually I think your observation regarding the single set of window switches is correct. On balance this is a good idea. Too often while driving I open rear windows when meaning to open the front. This on BMW and VAG products.
Cheers m8!
This looks much better than the vw ones.
They could improve with a more premium feel in the interior.
Glad u didn't crash.
About to get delivery of this car in red - cannot wait ☺
1:08 „Holy moly what th.. .. is this?“😆
Thomas, Thanks for the great detailed review. ID3 have an optional sports suspension(lowered by 15 mm) and progressive steering. With this options, do you think ID3 can also achieve the same level sportiness compared to cupra born?
looks awesome
Fabulous car and review !....goes to show you don't need an EV with 500hp+ to really have fun
Looking forward to see this in Australia. We do not have many EVs yet. Volvo have sold out of the XC40 recharge
I very much like this over the ID.3 it’s based on. Bummer neither is available in the U.S. Shall I hope the few grey imports eventually lead to official availability?
I agree with all your comments on the UI.
Everything about the car is lovely and I'd be interested in seeing them in the US, but I'm most distracted by how good that paint quality looks. Holy crap.
Amazing !!
I SEE YOU FRON SPAIN! Chapter shot in Spain!
Which one do you prefer Thomas, this one or Golf GTI?
Great car! Great review!
Better looking than id3
Weight limits preventing you having the panoramic roof and the large battery basically rules out this as a compact fun family car for holiday trips. EV's seem to be trending to larger cars for family's and small cars for young people which is questionable given the amount of power a base EV will have in future compared to the first car of a young person currently.
Impressive car considering how boring the ID.3 is but the AC/ volume controls EV infotainment letting it down along with the capacitive buttons on the wheel.
@Ferdi Posh "spanish" it is just a ID.3 with different "clothing"
I'm sure that power can be artificially limited in a small EV for new drivers.
Why would a panoramic roof make or break it as a family car you can roadtrip with? Really odd take.
If I hadn't just bought a GR Yaris, I'd be very keen indeed to try this. This is the sort of thing I'd been hoping Peugeot would make, given their hot hatch pedigree and their promotion of electric vehicles.
I loved the dark gray colour (the one that matched colours at the rear).
Dude, you have a GR Yaris and you would seriously consider THIS? The GR Yaris is leagues and leagues ahead of the Cupra Born in every single way.
That van was crazy
This is definitely a game changer!
A small attractive EV! Simply beautiful and seems great fun
Nice review, especially driving at Montserat
thanks man!
26:54 it needs a better horn
I ❤ electric hot hatches.
Great review
The id3 and the born give me more the vibe of a practical hatchback like the golf plus than a hot hatch. Also, I was expecting something more from Cupra than a higher trim id3.
Yes...US please. Love the light gray and copper.
I would love to see this in the US, I feel like they would be much successful compared to VW since Cupra appears to have so much style.
04:05 I think you meant to say, 30 "seconds" instead of "minutes".
That's exactly what I was about to write. That's right, 30 seconds are not minutes.
Slip of tongue 😅
@@autogefuehl well, wouldn't we all like a 30 minute e-boost? 😇
Looking forward to Cupra in Australia!
I assume VW went with the fixed tail light solution since the car is visible also at night when the tail gate is open. It's a safety feature.
it’s actually a law, not a „safety feature“. lights are not allowed to be on a movable bodypanel, like the trunk, otherwise they need a secondary pair of taillights like they did on the bumper of the Audi Q7 and Q5, or on the inside of the trunk like the Opel Insignia Sports Tourer and BMW iX
If only the repressed the cupra Ibiza, would of bought it in a heartbeat!! I have the FR and it’s perfect, I only wish it didn’t have the 1L TSI and the 2L one, 220BHP it would of had!! Be such an amazing car
Do you know if the E boost performance pack will be a on Payed air upgrade later aswell? like in tesla. since is the same mortor and stuff anyway... want to order my now, but cant get it with the e boost pack before next year.
Need this in the UK, right hand drive
I have ordered a Cupra Born here in Sydney, Australia. I am looking forwards to it arriving whenever that happens. I am a little disappointed that we won’t get the same spec Cupra cars as our British and European friends. Missing in our Version 3 equivalent model is the heads up displays, GPS module, glass roof and more. I’ve ordered the performance and interior package/upgrades so feel a little short changed with the above missing. With Tesla’s price cuts it’s tempting to just get a Tesla model three which are a dime a dozen here now. So I’m going for style, an engaging driving experience and Spanish tuning and flair.
Enjoy and thanks for the feedback!
Besten Dank. Wie ist die Innenlautstärke bzw. Dämmung des Fahrzeugs?
I wait the exit in Italy. I hope soon. Is very nice car in external part and also internal.
With good endurance... If future will be electric... I hope is with these shape and line of car. All like cupra.!!! Well do!
Doesn’t quite reach the bar for a hot hatch (warm hatch more apt?), but it’s a good start for sure 👍
Definitely a more appealing version of the VAG smaller electric platform. Those user interface issues bother me. I also question why so many brands put the charging cable storage UNDER the boot floor: If you carry anything in the boot then accessing the cables because really awkward.
good looking car
Even tho they’re both literally the same car this one is better imo
Hardly a hot hatch to suit the Cupra brand. Shame it doesn’t have twin motor with a Seat branded version with this single motor.
Great review as always but I’m interested in the twin motor when available.
Agreed, from what I've read the platform can support dual motors but you have to wonder if the cupra has been hobbled to prevent it stepping on the toes of VW or Audi
Incredible, saving 2 buttons and putting a capacitive button for window opening is sad.
At least put a physical switch to control back/forward.
What is next, removing window buttons and include them in the infotainment menu? :'(
Rear windows seats have there own button tho, not sure when you use the back window when your at the front. My car has the 4 buttons but barley use em
ID3, you’re not fooling me hiding under that cupra logo!
Hello Thomas... Nico from france... The holes between the seats in the rear part... Maybe to leave smartphone when you drive in a sporty way...
At some point they need to understand that buttons are more efficient and safe.
👍
The interior in the cupra born definitely looks better than the id3’s but I’m not sure about that rear bumper design 🤔 I’ve got an id3 on order it’s not as exciting looking but still a good EV 🔋
Hi Thomas, good morning
Hey 👋
All I have ever had to do with my many cars of various brands in recent years with the aircon is to choose a temp [usually 21c] and press Auto; then it's set and forget, never to be touched again. So I don't care about the controls because I don't touch them.
ok
Yes - bring it to the US please.
Nice test:) How much does e-boost cost?
I timed that 0-100 part and even if you're being super generous with the timing, you got over 7 seconds with it which is quite terrible. A stock id3 gets 7.2 sec 0-100
It has the biggest battery and the same power as the ID3.
@@comsubpac it should have more power with that sport button. At least for the 0-100 aspect you should see an Improvement
@@Twin.motors No, since the weight is very high and the torque doesn't change.
God how I wish this would come to Canada.
I am 194cm or 6'4". I think the seat upgrade makes the seats slightly higher positioned. There is around 2 centimeters of spare headroom in the backseats of my Born.
Hi, have you tried to sit on the back behind your seating position? If yes, do you have enough knee room?
I've gone on multiple trips with my brother (he is 205 cm or 6.7") without any problem..@@bigboobearboo
Indicator sound is like in zastava 750
I want to buy this beautiful electric car
When do you get to review Volvo C40? 😍
car manufacturers invest so much money in finding the "right" sound for their turning indicators, while I feel most drivers just want that sound to be as silent as possible (especially in EV's it can be really disturbing). Why don't most manufacturers offer the option of controlling the volume (some do), or even get rid of it completely? You have arrows on your screen, so you don't have to hear the sound to know the indicators are on.
They should have those PDLC films on sunroof instead. Might be lighter than moving shade
10:27 Yes, you did, Thomas. Yes, you did.
I'm a fan of everything except the rear styling
I hope this comes to South Africa
Aye! Lovely
A toilet on the rear seat? :D
😂
Hey! Idk if someone posted that but i believe the hole in the back maybe for your mothers in law purse;) A bit dissapointed it has not rear AC unit. Great review.
Would like this car in Iceland! 😃
Not for F-roads :)
@@rogerbakke2566 certainly not for those! 😉
The temp/vol touch controls annoyed me a lot when I test drove the Enyaq.. why are they suddenly so averse to real buttons? Just because Tesla does it, doesn't mean they all should do it.
at least the voice commands work on the tesla, I gave up on the 3rd day of non stop trying with a ID3
Wonder what it would be like on snow
what's the point in all these different subbrands if the interiors are basically the same. Same instrument cluster, same layout. If anything they should diversify to try different things and see what sticks.
