Could be that mine is a 2022, possibly cables and plugs are different, but like I said about 3 miles and I had huge issues. after remounting the brace mount and tying down the cables I have had no issues after 4000 miles. your Video was great and real good instructions. like I said I have the same bars they are really worth the money. I have a 2003 street glide, 2008 softail custom, 2012 fatbob, and my 2022 road glide special. best bars I ever bought. look forward to your other videos. thank you
Appreciate the video, you helped me save some money! I was quoted $1900 minimum by my nearest HD dealership to install my 12" Factory 47 STR Miter bars on a 22 RGS. I immediately went home and did the job myself over 4-6 hours. Hardest part is hands down pulling the wires through the bars. No issues with the stock cables or wires and very happy with the bars overall so far.
Great video, I’m a snow bird here in Mesa, Az and I’m headed home Tuesday (3/15) and I think I will pick up a set of those in chrome 12” at Superstition HD, I have been looking at those and after seeing your video I think I will pull the trigger and get a set. I tried to find them back home in Mn but none of the dealers carry the Factory 47, my dealer back there use to carry them but said they had problems with the chrome plating coming off, but I have found no reviews stating such a problem. Thanks again for a well done video.
@@MotoNorseman I live north of Brainerd Mn 30 miles just outside of the town of Cross Lake, we live on the White Fish Chain of Lakes, I can leave our dock in the boat and travel all 14 lakes that are connected with 250 miles of shore line.
I found if you coat the wires with baby powder ,its much easier, rather than wd40 or any lubricants, lubricants bad for the wiring.just rub on sheathing before installing. Just what I found, hope that is helpful.
Thanks for the very informative video. Been thinking of having new bars installed but your video is tempting me to give it a shot. At least it was right up until your comment of “I’m never doing them again”. Been thinking about the 10” and the 12”. I’d like to keep them below the fairing if possible.
@@MotoNorseman I was at the dealer going to order the 10” but he was trying to tell me go 12” minimum. I’m still not sure what the benefit is with the higher bars though. He said everyone always wishes they would have gone 2” longer than they originally wanted.
Amending my previous comment: Maybe the 2018 mounting is slightly different than a 2021 would. I didn't see a pin on the lower clamp when you mounted the bars. Also like you said, the wiring might be a little different lengths depending on the year of the bike. Thanks again.
I did have the pin. I must have removed it off camera. I had other people message me saying they had plenty of wire on their 14” bars while my 12” barely had any sticking out. Maybe my wire harness was made on a Friday. Lol. Thanks for watching.
Those bars look great but, they really look like 14s to me. The look of the stock wiring makes me think they are 14s. But, I guess not. Anyway, are the bars pre drilled for the factory lower clamp pin and the clutch and throttle mount clamps pins so you could use them if you so choose. Thanks.
Mine are factory 47 14 inch, did not have to lengthen wires, you do have to move bike side connections out of oe mount in cluster, but no big deal,I also put heated grips while doing, those cables only had to be done on left side, throttle side already in factory bar harness, and my 2020 road glide was pretty wired from factory for power to grips on bike side, you don't need the extra harness that harley says you need. By the way nice job,and is that denim white?
I put same bars on my 2022 road glide special, that piece of plastic you disguarded you had better put back in because I did same thing and found that after a few miles I had issues because the plugs work their way out. that plastic piece keeps the plugs from working their way out ---- just saying
There was a plastic tray at the handlebar clamp that the clutch and brake cable snapped into. I just released the cables from that plastic tray and it gave me enough length.
Jim Beam I did not change the bushings. I didn’t remove the lower clamp so I don’t even know if there are bushings. They don’t move at all. They feel solid.
Do you like the 12 inch or do you wish you would of went with 14 inch? I’m 5’11 with long arms trying to figure out which size would be best. Any input would be appreciated!
MrColt88 These are 12”. Contrary to what Factory 47 says, you will need the extended wires. I had maybe two inches of wire sticking out. You can buy longer harnesses that plug directly into the switch housing.
The bar looks awesome! Like the red grips. Genius to use ball chain to tread wires. Good idea to use WD40. Somehow I don’t think this will be your last bar replacement.
I ran them along the outside of the bars before pulling them through. They still only had that much left. Is your bike a 2018? Maybe your cables were made on a Friday and mine on a Monday. Haha! I don't know.

I had a 2012 fatbob as well. Loved that bike. My son wrecked it. I currently have a 2014 Street Bob along with my Roadglide.
I have to agree with you, 12" bars look the best on the Road Glide. Great job btw!

What part of MN? I’m from SW MN. Been in AZ for 25 years.
I have about 30,000 miles on these bars. Love them!

Very nice bike & bars! Your info was sweet & straight to the point! Thank you for that. Rock on & ride safe Moto Norseman! 🤘🏽🦅🏍🇺🇸
Thanks for the great video. The bike looks great.
Sweet video bud! Love the red grip! Currently waiting on 14” factory 47’s

I’ll try that if I ever install new bars like this again.

I have done more bars since but I don’t like doing them. Lol. I got the 12s for the same reason. To keep them below the fairing.

Interesting. I’ve put 50,000 miles on my bike since this video with no issues.
How tall are you? Just to have a idea of how the 12's would fit me.
Dustin1720 I’m 6’1”.
Thanks. Also i think you should upload a walk around vid of bike. Bars look great.
How tall are you?
....Trying to decide between the 12 s or 14s
6’1”. I like the 12s because they keep my hands behind the fairing. I have 14s on my Streetbob. Can’t go wrong with either size.
@@MotoNorseman Thanks very much
How did you get the clutch and brake cables to extend?
There was a plastic tray at the handlebar clamp that the clutch and brake cable snapped into. I just released the cables from that plastic tray and it gave me enough length.
Did you change the riser bushings? If not is there back and forth “flex” in the bars?
Jim Beam I did not change the bushings. I didn’t remove the lower clamp so I don’t even know if there are bushings. They don’t move at all. They feel solid.
Looks like you lose audio for a few seconds around the 9:00 mark when your zooming in on the pin that holds the bars in place. Otherwise, nicely done.

I do like the 12s. Kind of wish I did 14s but 12s are still very comfortable. Did a 7,000 mile trip this past summer with the bars.
Moto Norseman cool thanks for the response. Think I will go with the 14s. Did you vlog your trip?
Did you end up pulling the pin out or leaving it in?
Zach Lewis The bars are slotted so you can leave the pin in and still move it front to back for adjustment.
what height are those bars? i got a pair of 14's of these bars about to be installed on my 19 RGS

You dont have the wires pulled all the way through. 14s on mine and have more sti king out than yours
I ran them along the outside of the bars before pulling them through. They still only had that much left. Is your bike a 2018? Maybe your cables were made on a Friday and mine on a Monday. Haha! I don't know.
Sh.. the throttle wire is what I was waiting on. Everything else is easy.
Those red grips 🙄
Nice video nice bike but you probably want to wipe down your door That takes you into your house its pretty dirty Thanks for the video!!😂🤣😅😂
