I would definitely give God Eater a try. I really love the Monster Hunter series and made me fall in love with the genre, so God Eater will be good for me :3
Thank you for making a video about God Eater! While GE3 is considered the worst, imho it has the best gameplay, best char voice choice, best graphics, best new weapon (Heavy Moon), best female hair choice, best animated cutscene, and best waifu (Lulu) . People also think that GE3 story is shit, but actually the lore behind it is rich if you consider to take your time reading the official novel. Unfortunately it's only available in Japanese and you know google translate can be confusing. The novel explains everything about the character's backstory, why all the AGEs are treated like a monster, why the protag and co. can't just run away from the jail, why the aragamis that appears on each characters' resonance area are specifically that aragami. All are explained in novel. After reading the novel, everything hits harder to me.
I personally really liked G3, and do hope it's overall poor reception won't impact the future of the series. I'm glad you also enjoyed the game too and although I did research into the other God Eater mediums like the Manga, Anime, and etc. I didn't know about the G3 Novel I'll def be looking into it.

Ngl i cried at Shio's scene in god eater burst and that what made me very hooked in the franchise. Just have time to play the 3rd one, so doesn't have opinion on it yet. But so far, 1st GE is amazing in story it's good enough in gameplay. 2nd GE story is quite slow and borring in the beginning, but after the turning point it feels better and quite good and the gameplay is the better from the 1st and quite fun. The dialog and conversation maybe a bit cringe but the storyline is cover it.
Going by in-game lore from the Norn Database, 98% of Humanity was wiped out over the course of 30 years. As of God Eater 1, 10% of that number are *viable* to become God Eaters. Out of that 10%- still in God Eater 1, 2% actually pass the initial Bias Factor Injection. The other 8% get eaten alive by their own weapon.
Although the story of MH has always been lacking, it is by no means without a story. The story is scattered and you can spend hundreds of hours connecting everything. You carve out your own story and each elder dragon hunt could be told in short epic like that obscure manga. Personally i've always been way more immersed in the MH universe. As a kid i've always found the MHFU's "story" great. When i finally broke through the cave wall, I felt exhilarated seeing that massive sword stuck in that ice. That being said, can't ever say no to the good ol' Alisa underboob :D
