This is my favorite single episode Thab has ever done. I laughed so much during this and wish I had been there for the live streams. Super funny commentary, great video.
It's all here if it helps: ruclips.net/p/PLb2pR5EQ9mzM-7ZNMgB-F3wyHlN5W479W. I know you said "LIVE streams" but yeah... maybe you don't know about this second channel.
I have never played a Harvest Moon game, but I have spent many hours on Stardew Valley. The amount of similarities is crazy. The season breakdown, locations, villager interaction and quests, upgrades on property and tools and even the three year "end point" are all essentially the same (with minor differences). I had no idea so much inspiration for Stardew Valley came from Harvest Moon.
Lol. Harvest Moon is THE inspiration for Stardew Valley. Keep in mind that the newer Harvest Moon games are NOT from the original creators. The new Harvest Moon games done by the correct people are "Story of Seasons." If you're interested in trying Harvest Moon, the GBA one, Friends of Mineral Town, is considered one of the best ones.
I know, right!? Heck, I knew that harvest moon was a huge inspiration for Stardew, and I still didn't realize just how freaking much was taken from it. It's so close to the same that Stardew is clearly just a modern version of the same game. Before seeing this, I didn't realize they were THAT similar
There is also a "perfect ending" to HM64 where after your dad evaluates the farm, everyone has a big party to celebrate how well you did and you get a photo to commemorate it. It is a VERY difficult challenge.
This video convinced me to give Harvest Moon 64 a shot, since I'd thought I remembered seeing it in the NSO n64 offerings. I was wrong, but it has been added. Ended up playing Harvest Moon 64 all morning.
What an inspiring life. The ups and downs. The good days and bad. The love that was found. The animals that were lost. And of course the S-tier commentary.
The ocarina thing you can buy is used during the Spirit Festival. You can play the instrument and be more involved in it. Also the dog and horse races are won by stamina. Basically you have to brush your horse everyday, whistle for your horse everyday, talk to your hose everyday, and then ride your horse everyday. The dog, it's all about running. Secret tip for it is to bring it inside, whistle for the dog, and when it starts running towards you turn on the tv. The dog keeps running. Keep that going for like an hour or two and it's an easy win. Also, if you go to bed when your wife is waiting by the bed, it builds more to you having a baby. The baby does grow up into a toddler stage, but no more beyond that.
The big brain move is to work your ass off farming wood and money so you can buy the greenhouse by your first winter, then you're rolling in the dough for the rest of the playthrough :)
I remember how easy it was to get close to Karen in this game, you could go within one day from completely unknown to ready for marriage. All you had to do was grab your dog and talk to her over and over. Each time you talk to her while holding your dog the relationship improves a bit.
This episode was so good, best in the series so far! Also that's gonna be one smelly house after all the cabbage you've been force feedi-I mean giving Maria
I never played Harvest Moon, but I had a nintendo power subscription and I fondly remember reading and re reading everything about this game and even dreamed of it. I still haven't played so this is pretty awesome. extra fact: I did the same thing with final fantasy tactics. I loved the strategy guides yet never owned the game or played. Good memories.
This game was a gem in it's day. btw Maria = best girl. Elli = 2nd best Girl. Karen = 3rd best Girl. Other two are dead to me. Fun fact, Elli's Grandmother was one of the girls you could marry in the SNES Harvest Moon game, which means.. Elli is technically your Cousin if you married Ellen in Harvest Moon on the SNES.. so ya... think about that for a few minutes.
13:57 It's a wierd european, and i think french tradition.. it's called "galette des rois" everyone eat a slice, and if you have the "fêve" inside a slice, you are the "king" and you have a fake crown haha.
I think youre so cool I cant believe youre actually beating every N64 game! I like your chill presentation. You dont rely on abtrusive humor for entertainment value. Great work!
Honestly love this let’s play, zero meta involved, and it’s how I played as a kid. Just dive in and see what happens, so refreshing anymore. Great job!
I could watch Thab play these kinds of games forever. We need to find him a wholesome dating simulator. His courting in this game was hilarious. Another great vid Thab.
I think you need to sit in the hot springs for like an hour or two of in game time to replinish stamina. Harvest Moon for PS1 and GBA uses the same characters but mixes them up.
Wow, love these videos. This one especially. A series I never knew I needed! :) And what a love story. That guy that let you dance with Maria was a real bro!
The commentary with the love interest portrayed perfectly 'dense harem protagonist' vibes and I laughed so much. Also, I'd absolutely try to give Maria's mom cabbage, for reasons.
I wasn't sure about watching this, because I only watch thab for Mario, but I am glad I did because this was really fun to watch. Charming, funny and interesting. Great video!
28:44 ... thab... ooph. once you're married you don't NEED to do the nice things you did when you were dating, but it's always nice to surprise her every once in a while.
I can't believe you play more than 10 hours for all N64 games. It's amazing, but at the same time if you were like studying piano or something like that with all this time, you could have a brilliant carrer.
Oh, yeah, if you've been "dating" a girl for a long time in the game, or if you're married to that girl, the king will let you dance with her at the festival. I always thought that was a nice touch.
I somehow managed to lose this game as an 8 year old. I never thought to get the greenhouse and all I really did was forage for stuff and buy and eat cakes. Eventually the townspeople have like an intervention of sorts and basically agree you’re doing poorly but you should keep trying.
I accidentally set this to unlisted which messes with it showing up in people's sub feeds if I leave it there, so uhh here you go early I guess
Yay
No complaints here!
It didn't show up in my alerts, though... edit: nm, it did.
I was hoping that the schedule was changing to 2 a week. 😄
nope .. beating it is..
getting all the pics. and collect all home extensions
"I tried giving Maria a fish and she was happy about it! From that point on, I knew she was the one"
LMFAO
"My money just kept piling up and I didn't even need to give Maria cabbage anymore" - that's the dream right here
Man, this has got to be the best video of the series so far. So many memorable moments. Keep up the great work, Thab!
agreed. i love coming across new channels like these. Let me know if you find other, similatr iones, or if you're horny. bye
"You could just sleep to advance to the next day over and over to get to the credits"
Sounds more like Depression Simulator to me
haha true
Big ouch
Lmao this comment killed me. This sounds like my life currently just sleeping to advance the days till my death
That'll just be real life lol
I stay awake for days at a time to appreciate reality
"Naturally I named my horse Bobby so I didn't get it confused with my dog Bob."
Top tier humour. Hahaha.
This is my favorite single episode Thab has ever done. I laughed so much during this and wish I had been there for the live streams. Super funny commentary, great video.
Same

Ah yes, the ultimate pick up line - "I have a crib at home, wanna help me fill it?"
"She should get her own bed!"
Thab is the king of comedy sometimes
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 that had me joked
It's an expensive bed! He earned the money he spent on it, so he shouldn't have to share it with her. It's pretty rude, imo.
very 'sometimes'
Fellas, if your girl stutters and accepts any gift (especially a live fish), put a ring on it.
Don't you mean "tear a feather up and throw it over her head"? :p
Force feed your woman some cabbage
The ocarina can be used for the Spirit festival. You need to befriend some of the folks and they will invite you to play the ocarina at the square.

Same here.
TBH I think SDV got a bit too much inspiration.
I mean, a lot of the same festivals and also a hot air balloon event? Come on!
Lol. Harvest Moon is THE inspiration for Stardew Valley.
Keep in mind that the newer Harvest Moon games are NOT from the original creators. The new Harvest Moon games done by the correct people are "Story of Seasons."

Harvest Moon is much better than SV
SDV is basically copy/paste of HM
I stayed up all night playing this at a friend's birthday party; got married and built the greenhouse before breakfast. Loved this game.
There is also a "perfect ending" to HM64 where after your dad evaluates the farm, everyone has a big party to celebrate how well you did and you get a photo to commemorate it. It is a VERY difficult challenge.

6:00 Horse racing...predicting dark future 😆
right
This is one of my favorites that you have done so far. It's the one that I've watched the most.
The ocarina thing you can buy is used during the Spirit Festival. You can play the instrument and be more involved in it. Also the dog and horse races are won by stamina. Harvest Moon is a diamond in the rough. Absolutely obsessed with this series as a kid.
Man, I thought I was watching a review of Harvest Moon. Turns out I was watching the cutest love story ever.
Dev 1: Ok, we got farming, sleeping, pets and people. What else do we need to finish this kids game?
Dev 2: Gambling!
The big brain move is to work your ass off farming wood and money so you can buy the greenhouse by your first winter, then you're rolling in the dough for the rest of the playthrough :)
The baby does eventually crawl around on the floor, and later actually walks. But it never grows older than a toddler.
But it never grows older than a toddler.
D:
There are events around it too, when it can walk you can take it to town with you and the festivals. They can also run away and you have to find them.
"Don't be so selfish Karen!" Truly a game ahead of its time
I remember how easy it was to get close to Karen in this game, you could go within one day from completely unknown to ready for marriage. All you had to do was grab your dog and talk to her over and over. Each time you talk to her while holding your dog the relationship improves a bit.

"Back to the old chores grind: eggplants, Maria, and wood." 😂
This game was a gem in it's day. btw Maria = best girl. Elli = 2nd best Girl. Karen = 3rd best Girl. Other two are dead to me. Fun fact, Elli's Grandmother was one of the girls you could marry in the SNES Harvest Moon game, which means.. Thab, I just wanna say I'm enjoying this content alot. I'm really glad you're doing it!
13:57 It's a wierd european, and i think french tradition.. it's called "galette des rois" everyone eat a slice, and if you have the "fêve" inside a slice, you are the "king" and you have a fake crown haha.

Fantastic narration! I watched almost the whole gameplay and I feel like you encompassed a ton of the events and emotions of the game.
Great video, so funny! Laughed many times but when you named your kid Cabbag(e) I died lmao
Looking forward to enjoying this series into 2028 at the current pace!
Hell yea, I'll be interested that long.
Aw yeah, the long haul!
man your videos are so engaging and bingeable, its destroying my work ethic. keep em comin
This was my favorite game on N64. I was addicted
The commentary on Maria is pure gold love it best video yet
This video was great. I was so invested in yours and Maria’s relationship.
Dude, you make this game sounds... fun?!
I love this series, thanks for the content, Thab!
This is so crazy and nice to see, something that I would never expect Thab to play
I think you need to sit in the hot springs for like an hour or two of in game time to replinish stamina. Harvest Moon for PS1 and GBA uses the same characters but mixes them up.
Thab: Gotta get the baby bed for the ladies
Also Thab: WHAT DO YOU MEAN SLEEP IN THE SAME BED?!
this hit me in my nostalgia, thank you for the upload, great content, i also picked maria, you better treat her right!
loved the review. Loved seeing twitch chat too during all this
I laughed out loud many times. Appreciate you Thab.
I wasn't sure how you would "beat" Harvest Moon, but you totally did it! Great job on this one! Seemed like a really long gaming session!
Man this was super fun!!!! I love it and I laughed a lot!
Wow, love these videos. This one especially. A series I never knew I needed! :) And what a love story. That guy that let you dance with Maria was a real bro!
great vid! I liked the length.
Also best line: get your own bed! Hilarious ;)
How do you solve a problem like Maria?
This was such an entertaining video! Thank you for this series.
What a roller coaster of emotions with marie!! What a journey!
I loved Harvest Moon on the Super Nintendo. This game looked like a decent successor.
this game made more sense in japan, since its about impressing your father
I’m starting to look forward to these more than the Mario vids. So good!
I just realized that at this pace, this series will take 7 years before ending. Omg
Wow! Just love it... This journey is really epic. Keeps getting better and better.
So sad I missed this live! Loooove these videos.
I'm so glad I found this video! Excellent narrative, did my childhood memories justice.
love your channel. kind of scratches that itch for old school avgn episodes, even if you're not as angry only slightly annoyed haha
“And to think 14 hours ago I didn’t even know her” 😂
Hilarious commentary. Thanks for the great content.
this was incredible! oh man, i was laughing so hard throughout this
This game was a lynchpin of my childhood. Fun revisiting it through this.
What a love story. I had tears in my eyes
Loved this game as a kid and loved this episode so much!
The commentary with the love interest portrayed perfectly 'dense harem protagonist' vibes and I laughed so much. Also, I'd absolutely try to give Maria's mom cabbage, for reasons.
Waiting for one of these to get lucky and get in people's recommends and then they'll keep showing up in people's boxes.
this game is so nostalgic to me. My family and some close family friends all played and compared farms or gave each other tips.
I’ve been binge watching all you n64 videos. Awesome channel
I wasn't sure about watching this, because I only watch thab for Mario, but I am glad I did because this was really fun to watch. Charming, funny and interesting. Great video!
wow. this is better than most romance novels
Better than Twilight!
28:44 ... thab... ooph. once you're married you don't NEED to do the nice things you did when you were dating, but it's always nice to surprise her every once in a while.
Currently one of my fav shows on the tubes! Keep up the great work dude.
My roommate in college used to play this game in the mornings until I woke up on the weekend. Love this series!
I like to think this is what FF7 would have looked like on the N64 if Square didn’t jump over to Sony.
Thab and Maria still a better love story than twilight
Really enjoying this series bud. Juts subbed
Thanks for giving us a second YT vid for today!
25:33 for cuteness
And then the comment in chat "shes gregnant". Loved it ^^
I somehow managed to lose this game as an 8 year old. I never thought to get the greenhouse and all I really did was forage for stuff and buy and eat cakes. Eventually the townspeople have like an intervention of sorts and basically agree you’re doing poorly but you should keep trying.
😂😂😂
The Maria chronicles were riveting. Loving this N64 series so far
This video had the best dialogue so far, it was entertaining and you had me cracking up 😂✌️
I loved this game and loved watching this playthrough!
Thab and Maria. Still a better lovestory than twilight :)
Oh, man! Love the beast and loved this game. Stoked to watch this!
Eggplants Maria wood lmao 🤣
This series is pretty awesome. So many N64 games I never even knew about!
Damn, Maria sure knows how to handle an organ!
When I have kids, and they compete in a race, I'm going to take after you and say "YES THEY DIDN'T FINISH LAST, MY KID IS AWESOME!!!"
Awesome series, and amazing video!! I miss this game
Keep up the good work! Really enjoy this series!
Insane narration, best episode so far i was thrilled, the only aspect you should improve is show more live reaction , keep going !
I actually played through this one back in the N64 days. Very fun
