- Hamburger + Fries at the same time FROM FROZEN!!! on the brand new Ninja Foodi Smart XL Grill using Ninja's " XL COMBO CRISPER BASKET " that comes with the " Kitchen Collection " offered from Ninja's website.... This is a really neat and convenient device which makes the grill capable of Air Frying... or air grilling... 2 different items AT THE SAME TIME... and it did a really good job!!! i demonstrate how to use it and some limitations of the temperature probe to cook...i also compared the difference in taste of 1 Bubba Burger Original burger and 1 Bubba Burger Angus burger and air fried one pound of Ore Ida Crinkle Cut Fries simultaneously... AND ALL OF IT WAS FROZEN WHEN I PUT IT ON!!! This is truly one of our FAVORITE things to cook for a quick lunch or supper... in a hurry... from the freezer... in just over 20 minutes.... Both the burgers which I did a taste comparison on and the French Fries were absolutely excellent!!! Thank y'all for stopping by...i love all y'all... each and every one of you... and please come back to see me... jelly

Much respect for the out-of-the-box and on the fly ideas in your demonstration.
Yesss! Another awesome demo! That's a nice gadget but I don't need ANYTHING else. (yeah right) I love the Bubba Burgers, next time I'll try the Angus. Thanks for sharing!❣️
Thanks msbrazell... those Bubba Burgers are really good for many situations...I am cooking them quite often nowadays and the Angus might be worth the extra money!!! See what you think...thanks for watching!!!
I always appreciate your willingness and desire to experiment with these appliances. I think I would struggle with how to best utilize the basket while grilling, so this was great to watch❣️
Glad I helped and happy to hear you enjoy the videos... thank you for watching them!!!
My grill just came, and I’m really enjoying your videos. Thanks!
Great to hear!! Glad to know I helped...thanks for watching!!!
I will look into this Ninja when budget permits
Love your presentation
Keep on with the information !!!!
Love your videos
Glad to hear you enjoy my videos and thank you for watching!!
Thanks. I wondered about the bubba burgers. Love that you are demo-ing all the Ninja new products. 👍🏽
The Bubba burgers have became one of my go to items for quick and easy... they are surprisingly good too... i'm glad you enjoy my videos and thanks for watching them!!!
Bubbas are good...but pricey. Wally World has the Sams Club Angus burgers that are 1/3 pound and DEVINE!! Plus you can get them in Angus, Seasoned, or with bits of Cheddar and Bacon ground into the patty mix and are AMAZING!!! And cheaper than the Bubbas.
Thanks... I'll give those a try...
Had this for over 1 month now and from literally day one we've not used the main gas oven! 😂 It's brilliant, it cooks so much, there's a great Facebook group for these too that everyone shares their recipes in. A solid 9.5/10 for the Ninja from me.
What's the Facebook group? :)
John does an awesome job! Very informative and through
Thank you for your video. I almost bought one of these but I didn't realize it took so long.
It is a really neat device that works really well...thanks for watching!!!
You are ALWAYS reliable. Thank you
There is definitely a learning curve whenever trying out new kitchen appliances. In time you'll master it no doubt.
Yay!!! You got one!! I’ve been waiting for this video 😁
That's good to hear... glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching!!!
Haha his accent is a treat to listen to. He should do voice overs
Thank you!!!
@@checkitoutlove He mostly drives me nuts (which he knows), but you cain't help but like the guy LOL!! Bubbbba Burgers n' a pounduh crankle cuutz! hehe
If you are careful, when you burger thaws, you can insert the thermometer and it will tell when the proper temp is reached.
Great video. The probe is designed to be in the meat the entire time and allow the machine to automatically adjust cooking time to get the food cooked to perfection. It's not really for use as I quick read. This is why it's not working in the way you were trying.
Great video. Never thought about checking temp on fries. Good way to get them how you like them every single time.
Thank you... I think it is worth trying... Thank you for watching!!!
@@JohnSanders I went on a binge last night, watching a ton of your videos lol. I think I will continue tonight. Very entertaining and informative.
Thanks...That is nice to hear... glad you are enjoying them!!!
I just subscribed and just bought an xl. Sadly I've had 2 beef fails (1- frozen burger, 2nd filet mignon steaks). I'm finding that by following ninja's directions and using the probe that it doesn't always yield the best results. I hope you will make more videos using XL grill. Thanks!
Good to see the accessory tray being used. So far I don’t feel like I’ve missed much. The burgers and fries do look delicious! I’d probably go for the angus burgers. Thanks!❤️
Can't wait to try the grill out
You need to stick the probe while they are air frying..
I got the ninja XL smart coming to me as my Christmas present
John, thanks for the in depth review of the new Ninja Foodi Smart XL Grill. I think this one is going to get the most use out of all my gadgets. Great companion to my InstantPot Duo Crisp. *** Special request *** Please make a video of your classic Franks Red Hot Wings in the new Ninja Foodi Smart XL Grill. 🍗🍗👍
That's a good idea... and I'm sure i will be doing wings in it and that is my favorite sauce... thank you for watching Wesley!!!
I've got ADHD as an adult. You remind me of myself when I am cooking. Love my N F Smart XL grill and love seeing how people are using theirs. Oh, and coffee rules.
I'm sure i do too... just never been checked...lol... the grill is a really neat device...thanks for watching!!!
Looks good.. I tested mine with frozen cooked chicken wings and fresh cut potato fries. Both cooked same time and temperature perfectly. The whole bag of chicken fit and lot's of fresh potato fries.
That sounds like a very good lunch... or dinner... thank you for sharing that and thanks for watching!!!
Those burgers and fries look delicious!
Thanks Ethan...and thanks for watching!!!
Thanks John...I ordered from Amazon an hour ago...Looking at you video and all the extra things you got from ordering from the factory. I cancelled my Amazon order and ordered from the factory.
Not a bad idea because they are very useful...thanks for watching!!!
Love your content!
Thank you very much and thanks for watching!!!
The probe is made to stay in there while you cook. That is why it is called a smart grill. It will stop by itself when it reaches the desired temp based on what you are cooking.
Sure but kind of hard to stick it into a frozen patty :)
@@JohnVanderbeck probably, but perhaps it calls for thawed meats. Don't most cooks thaw their meats before actually cooking them?
How hot does the exterior on the unit get? I drive trucks and would like to replace my microwave with an air fryer. I’m just worried about the outside getting hot and burning the plastic where I place my microwave.
I'm not sure I can answer that correctly... may be a question for ninja as they would know whether that is OK or not...thanks for watching!!!
hi again John the UK - yay new Ninja devices!
It is a very neat device!!! Thank y'all for watching over there...lol...
Wow! Another new ninja grill already? I just ordered the original one. LOL
The kitchen gadget market is kinda busy right now...lol...thanks for watching!!!
Thank you for this guide--I learned a lot! What is the salt you used? And are those 2 different types of salts in that wooden salt holder ?
I use Jacobsen salt... one is normal sea salt and the other side of the box is a flake finishing salt...thanks for watching!!!
Really love your watch. Want to give husband one for his birthday. What kind is it and where can I get one?love the video and content. Definitely adding this to my kitchen.
Hey John, let me ask you. I have this and the newer pro unit that you also have now. Reviews on Amazon are sparse for the new pro one and aren’t great. Between the two, which one would you get?
Hey, John! Love your videos....very well detailed!...Only question, which is better Ninja 400 Pro..or XL for all function....looking to buy...it seems like it taes the XL a little longer in videos I ve seen...but good for the grill mode...I d appreciate your thoughts...Thanks for all you do!
I'm not familiar with the Ninja 400 pro but if you are referring to the Ninja Pro grill... or the previous version I would have to say this one if you need a larger cooking area... but if say 4 burgers at a time versus 6 is ok with your family size then the pervious version is a really good machine... hope this helps and thanks for watching!!!
Hi, where is the tray from? I recently purchased the foodi smart xl grill but did not receive that small tray that can be used with the grill?
🤔 Will this Combo Grill Plate/Grill Basket fit and work in the Ninja Foodi XL Pro Oven?
John- thanks for your video. I have a the original Foodi Grill. This one looks like the splatter screen only covers the heating element and not the entire inside lid. How challenging is this to clean with all the grease splatters?
Although I have cooked 3 steaks...6 burgers and a pizza it had not been a problem... hopefully it will stay that way...lol...i have attached the Unboxed video i have that shows it a little better if you want to see it... hope this helps and thanks for watching!!!
ruclips.net/video/_CYHZ4p2Xnk/видео.html
little technical question: do you have an idea how to switch to Celcius degrees (with ninja machines) ? It's confusing cause everything in my kitchen is metric !
John... where di you get the half air fryer basket?? The Ninja Foodi XL I just ordered come with a full sized air fryer basket..... I want the half basket like you use here
Mine came with a bigger French fries basket. Did you buy that smaller basket seperate?
Just the recipes, alone, can make it worth watching you! LOL
You got a Shout Out from CookingWithDoug tonight on his live video. I saw this video out to the side just as he started. Had to come view it as soon as he was done.
Yeah...I sat in on some of it...I was tired up for most of it but I heard him and some of the other viewers said hey to me... always enjoy Doug... been watching him a long time...
Wish I could get the basket in the UK
How do you clean it, do the plate come off to clean
Looks sooooo delicious. Off topic question. Every time you wear that shirt I go crazy trying to read what it says inside the triangle on the back. LOL. So, what does it say?
It says PFG which stands for Performance Fishing Gear... it is made by Columbia and although i don't fish as much as I used to i really love their clothing and how good they wear...thanks for watching!!!
Great job as always 007
Thank you Marlin...and thanks for watching!!!
You are suppose to stick the thermometer into thawed meat at the start of cooking time and then select if you want rare, medium, well etc and the screen will tell you it reached your selection of rare or what ever you chose.
That is correct...I was actually trying to see if it could be used as an Instant read thermometer... and quite honestly i think i could pull that off with a few more attempts...thanks for watching!!!
The probe sensors are on the tip of the probe. You were holding the probe past the sensors. I believe it will work well for you if the sensors are used properly
After seeing this video it got me thinking, what if we just flip the bigger crispy basket over can we cook 2 things at once like the speedi??
Can you do a video grilling beyond burgers and other veggie burgers in the Ninja Foodi Grill XL. Thank you!
I might try that sometime...thanks for watching!!
Have you done the Canadian pea meal bacon in roast form on the 5 in 1
I have not tried that...
Is it hard to keep the inside lid of this grill clean?
What setting is the machine set on ? It says 165? Grill? Beef? Medium rare?
What did you use, the grill or the air fryer?
Another great video John. I wanted to ask what type of watch is that? I'm not up to date on watches. The last one I bought was a Timex in the 1980's. It's time for me to get one of these new fangled ones so big brother can monitor me.
I have a Samsung watch...I do like it...
Can you us it on the ninja grilled xl but not the smart griller. Cannot find no videos on that.
The XL crisper basket that came with your kit can you buy it in America as not able to in UK
XL Combo Crisper basket I mean.
We’re the burgers different thickness? Or did the grill cook differently on one side from the other?
They were very close to same size...thanks for watching!!
Hey John. Great videos. What spatula are you using?
Thanks...i think they are Joseph Joseph...i will confirm when I get back home and correct this if not... glad you enjoy the videos and thanks for watching!!!
You sound like such a nice guy its soothing. Thanks for the tutorial
That is really good to hear!! Thank you for watching!!!
Nothing wrong w/ burgers & fries. Looks good, John.👍 It be neat to see you cook side by side between the two Ninja Grills (older model & XL).
I'll have to give that some thought but thanks... and thank you for watching!!!
John what is the name of the orange tongs you use?
Why does on the crisper xl basket box that comes with the ninja, it says grill and air fry at the same time?
I guess because that is kinda what it is...i mean it is a grill but it is a grill that uses air fry technology... but that is just my guess...lol...thanks for watching!!!
I have not been able to locate the 500 degree grill grate. What’s the brand and size for steaks in the air fryer?
I use the one that came with the grill...
Anyone else hit the "like" button before these videos even start? Ninja should be paying you a commission, John, I'm guessing tons of people have bought their products simply because of you.
Thank you very much Jean...i really appreciate that and thanks for saying it...i do hope I help...thanks again and thank you for watching my videos!!!
@Tim Gagliardo the crisper pan that comes with the ninja grill doesn't fit in yours? Or, you bought a crisper pan separately that doesn't fit? I just bought the ninja xl grill after wanting it for so long, I'm REALLY debating buying that extra little crisper pan that he made the fries in, now I'm worried I'll buy one that doesn't fit accidentally
@Tim Gagliardo rip
I just bought the Ninja foodi grill 5 in 1 on Amazon, can't wait to do burgers on it.
I feel positive you are going to be impressed... excellent burgers on these things!!! Thanks for watching!!!
I just bought one too! (finally, I've been wanting one for so long, I finally pulled the plug because qvc was having a good sale!) Have you used yours yet?
I'm excited to try chicken wings, shrimp skewers, lots of stuff, I've never even used an air fryer, plus the indoor grill part will be good for my kids lunches, some quick hamburgers/hot dogs, without heating the house up! I hope I love it as much as I think I will
@@Catherine-nv7wc I've used it so far for grilled steaks and air fried wings, they both came out amazing.
@@TheLWebb100 speaking of grilled steaks... I don't eat steak, but my son loves it. I've tried buying inexpensive steak to experiment cooking, (I say inexpensive because I didn't want to spend too much incase I messed it all up!) he said it wasn't the best (not sure if it's because I bought thin cheap steak, or because Idk how to season/marinate steak, so it was all experimental) I also tried making his steaks on the stovetop(not grilled) but now that I have the ninja grill, I am going to try again for him. I can pre set it to his desired doneness (rare, medium rare, etc) but, how do you recommend I season the steak? Do you marinate yours ever, or just sprinkle seasoning on? He's a kid, so he doesn't have suggestions or steak cooking knowledge, I don't eat it so I can't taste it as I go, so any suggestions I'd really appreciate!! (One time I bought a steak rub, ugh, it was bad(he said) (&, I smelled it), it smelled & he said it tasted like it had a bunch of cinnamon in it, anther time I tried teryaki marinade, but I'd like to learn to just sprinkle some classic steak seasoning , grill it, badda-bing, badda-boom! (I'm just hesitant to keep buying seasonings/rubs/marinades after that gross cinnamon one, I wouldn't have bought it if I knew it had that in it) I'd like advice from a steak eater!
hi ive just bought the ninja foodi xl grill !! am just wandering what settings to put the air fryer on too cook oven chips and frozen fish ? i normaly cook them in the oven for 28 mins together plz can you help?
I've never done chips... but I would probably use 375 °farenheit for fish and monitor with probe until say 145° farenheit... hope this helps and thanks for watching!!!
@@JohnSanders just to mention Brian might be from U.K. where it’s only the skinny ones that are called (French) Fries. The fatter ones like your crinkle cut ones are called chips and what US call chips are called crisps. That all reminds me of the comedy series called Soap from years ago where the intro was a catch-up and the voice-over says “Confused? You won’t be after this episode of Soap” but I always ended up more confused. Anyhow love your videos keep up the good work.
Lol... thanks for pointing that out and glad you enjoy the videos...thanks for watching!!!
If you had to get only one, would it be the Foodi grill or the foodie dual air fryer?
Very good question... are you planning on doing a lot of steaks?
In your opinion is it worth the extra money for the dt251 verses the dt201
Yes...I do think it being only 20 dollars more it is worth the extra... in my opinion ...thanks for watching!!!
Do you think the thermometer is slow because its suppose to be left in the food whilst cooking?
That could be correct... it is really not designed to be used s an Instant read thermometer... thanks for watching!!!
I thought there’s no flipping or opening the lid necessary. It tells you how long to cook it, you set it for that and leave it
I usually flip things on the grill...
Can you kindly let me know what silicon brand tongs you have there? Tongs / flat looks like something I need to own
They are made by a company called Joseph Joseph...i have used them quite a bit recently... they work really well...thanks for watching!!!
@@JohnSanders great videos. Thanks for making them. I have tu get that grill grate degreaser and whatever you use fire the grill plate cleaning
@@michaelsuna6248 Hi Michael, what video is the grill grate degreaser on? Do you know the name?
I am going to try this one burger and fries along side and cook both at 375. In my Ninja Foodi
Next week when I get the Fries
That is a good idea... let us know how it turns out and thanks!!!
Where did you find the ninja xl combo fryer basket? Can’t find it anywhere..
I think I have saw them at Walmart...thanks for watching!!!
I seen them at walmart $169
Seasoning on the burgers???
What is the difference between the xl grill and the SMART grill..
hello good guy
your's videos are nices, and y want to test theres
but, where you find your basket grill from potatoes we see ??
i am a french guyd, i dont find in UE
somme help ?
you"re good !
Pierre-Michel.T.
It is called the..."XL Combo Crisper Basket" and it is available from the Ninja kitchen website... hope this helps and thanks for watching!!
Did it smoke at all?
Now it just needs to make waffles too lol
@janie me tooooooo D:
Ummm, mine did NOT come with that size of crisper basket.
Thanks for your video! Can you tell me what are the actual dimensions of this machine (L x W x H)? Thanks in advance!
I will try to measure it when I get back later today...thanks for watching!!!
@@JohnSanders Hi, John! Did you measure the machine?
I got this from their website...15.7 W X 16.5 D X 11 H inches... thanks for watching
Could it be cause you used frozen patties vs. pre thawed patties? I just got my grill cause I fryer lid for my InstaPot was just too small!
Not sure... thanks for watching!!!
well..this is what i was looking for...a comparison with air..
Glad I helped... thanks for watching!!!
This is why I love my new Ninja dual air fryer...less fuss and time in cooking two items at once.
That is a really nice device... for sure...thanks for watching!!!
yeah you're supposed to leave the probe in the product while it's air frying. that way you got an accurate reading an you're not waiting for the probe to come up to temp
Yes...I was just trying to see if it could be used in place of a instant read thermometer because I feel everyone should have one of those... but as you saw it didn't work reliably... but it does work well when left in while cooking...thanks for watching!!!
@@JohnSanders I figured you had enough common sense and you probably read the instructions first .I just like leaving comments and likes and videos that I find entertaining ..stay safe
Glad to hear that...lol... thanks pickles!!!
Great 📹
Thanks... and thanks for watching!!!
Hi John,
Awesome videos... I brought our Ninja devices.after watxhing your videos and have done several of your recipes. THANKS TONS!
My question is: Have you ever verified the Temps on a Ninja Grill? I have verified mine with both contact and infrared temp measurememts. The highest temp I can get is 465. Even after running on high for 30 minutes.
Thoughts?
I actually checked it quickly the other day and I was at a lower temp but the griddle was very close...i plan to check further with our at max... glad you enjoy my videos and thanks for watching!!!
@@JohnSanders Hi John, Just checked my Smart Grill XL and it easily got 500+ degrees. Noticeable difference from my Pro in cooking. Ton more sear. \
That is good to hear... thanks for sharing that!!!
@@JohnSanders Did surprise me a bit. I would have expected the XL to be the one struggling to achieve/maintain 500+ degrees. They are both 1760 watts and the XL has a bit more space...Made us happy ass we like the XL better.
It has performed very well for me so far also!!
I see the Duke's mayo on the counter. I've heard that is good mayo. It isn't really sold around where I live. Sometimes you find it at a Dollar Tree and it sits on the shelf for a while. Weird how different parts of the country have different top brands.
I agree...i used to be a tried and true Blue Plate mayo man but since I started this channel I tried a few others and Dukes was better than I thought... but i still use blue plate every once in a while...thanks for watching!!!
@@JohnSanders Blue Plate is my go to.
I’m very open minded but I prefer not to taste anything else besides Hellman’s Mayo.
That is all my mother used when I was growing up...thanks for watching!!!
I don't think I have ever check the temp on fries, even if they are frozen. It seems as we move into the future everything will be frozen.
hi John
sorry about my bad attitude with you
please, accept my apologies
you make good work, here
best regards
P.M.T.
No problem... I didn't take it bad but thank you and as always thank you for watching!!!!
pierre-michel tassin, Hi. Sir You Are A GENTLEMAN... Thank You. 🐶 PEACE! 🚭
Hey John you need to get you a can of Duck Fat Spray and spray it on your Fries before cooking. If you do you most likely will not want Fries done any other way! Liked The Video!!
That is a good idea...i will try that...thanks and thanks for watching!!!
Where do you buy duck fat spray?
@@MamaDouglas Google it and it will give a list of places where you can get it.
I have saw it at Walmart...
The temp probe is designed to remain inside the grill while cooking. It's not instant read.
I realize that now I was just trying to see if it would do in a pinch and it were all I had I think it might work...I mean better than nothing but I highly recommend everyone have a instant read...thanks for watching!!!
Good Video!
Thank you... and thanks for watching!!!
The us version is so much different, the Uk version of the air crisp basket is so much bigger I don’t think this would be possible with the uk version of Ag551, unless you can buy the basket separately, even that’s not available on the Uk ninja web site😁
I didn't realize that... thanks for letting us know...thanks for watching!!!
U.S. the big basket comes with. half basket you buy separate. 😎
Where you get that little basket from?
My basket is bigger than this . I sure wanted to try it
The thermometer is designed to be inside the machine during cooking.
I agree and it works well for that...i cooked steaks last night and it did a good job with that...thanks for watching!!!
It’s a temperature probe, not an instant read thermometer. They each have their own purpose. Otherwise, great video!!
You are supposed to leave the thermometer in it while the burgers cook. It’s not meant to be used for a quick check.
Makin me hungry right now! I wish they had a small crisper for the foodi grill pro like the one on the XL, for now i just use a small airfrier for the fries and use the foodi grill for the Burgers and "there's nothin wrong with that!"
That works really well too... and that is a good idea for the original grill...thanks for watching!!!
Think you are supposed to put the probe in the burgers and leave it in while it is cooking.
I'm am sure you are and that is what it is designed to do but I hoped it could be used as a instant read thermometer in a pinch... but it didn't work very well... but yes it is designed to be left in during the full cook...thanks for watching!!!
Not if frozen. If frozen foods are being cooked you use manual and check it as it goes.
Wooooooooooooooooooo!
