I feel the same, Miyabi from what i've read/seen is very good, while clearly not as good as Ellen i think fully built a Miyabi can fill that ice attacker role very well. For me Zhu Yuan is in a great spot for an early pull character, as they add in more of her squad and her element she will get stronger as well as her team options open up. That being said, if you love Ellen then no reason not to go for her she is great, but for me Zhu is the right choice

Personally, I feel Zhu Yuan teams will be weaker at launch but have better longterm investment Most of Ellen's faction is more or less already in the game, meaning most of the time Ellen would get future support is from ice element additions that aren't DPS rather than her faction due to how large her faction is already. Furthermore, Ellen and Corin conflict with eachother, so unless you're fighting ice resistant enemies I don't see you getting much value out of Corin being on the team. This leaves you with Lycaon and Rina as the last slot in your team, both of which are 5*'s so you either need to get lucky or you're forced to use your selector on one of them. Zhu Yuan meanwhile you can slot into a team with Nicole and Anby, both of which are free characters that don't overlap with Zhu Yuan's role. Considering the other members of her faction aren't in the game, they'll likely be added soon, so teams revolving around Zhu Yuan can only improve as time goes on.
remember that you need 1 unit from either same element of faction, meaning ideally you want to run Ellen with Lycaon (ice, maid, stun) and a fill (which is a soukaku right now) but even in future if you run at least 1 more ice unit, you dont need to run ANYONE from housekeeping as 2 ice in a team already ensures her passive is online. I dont think her faction already being packed matters because all you need is a better support from the same element, and soukaku will get crept eventually just like Nicole. in my opinion it's also a reason why Nicole is on Zhu banner and Soukaku on Ellen, so you have that synergy guarenteed regardless of your 5* luck, but I'm not gonna lie Ellen start team is so much more expensive if you don't hit Lycaon on guarentee it kinda sucks.

Yep now that i've seen all the teased characters my plan is skip ellen pull zhu yuan then skip 1st half of 1.1 then w8 for 2nd phase of it and i'll see if next unit will be pullable because i saw that police lady with a karambit of some sort knife and she's a banger.

I was already going to skip Ellen and roll for Zhu Yuan even before the stream today, but even more so now that I saw a few characters in her faction I also want to get in the future. It's interesting how Physical is a separate element in this game, but a lot of characters who aren't Physical still deal that damage.
Too bad she isn’t anomaly. I think from a multiplier standpoint Ellen just flat out out dmg her even without ice supports. And since she doesn’t have any faction teammates and dedicated bangboo it really feels like ur pulling for an incomplete character rn. I’ll wait for rerun. Edit: Well….the special program showed new pubsec characters so that kinda changes things😅
I wouldn't put too much stock on CBT3 numbers as changes from CBT3 were already spotted, such as disk drives (relic system) being reverted to how it was in CBT1. I also recall characters getting rebalanced before HSR launched and wouldn't be surprised if that happened here. EDIT: If you got notified twice; youtube was being weird, deleted the original message
Great video! What do you think about the Zhu Yuan + Nicole + Grace team? Since Zhu Yuan cares about stunned enemies, Anby seems like an obvious choice. However, since Grace is an Anomaly unit and can generate Disorder (which also stuns) when paired with Zhu Yuan, do you think she is a good option for the 3rd slot?
you can't use Grace in team because she Dps or Sub Dps and squad need to shares the same Attribute or Faction for their passive to active / Attribute : Zhu Yuan + Nicole same elements - Faction : Nicole + Anby same Cunning Hares faction. that way whole team passive active.
Zhu Yuan and Nicole will get their bonus for having the same damage type, but you won't get the bonus for having Grace on there. Since Zhu Yuan and Nicole do not follow the same faction or damage type as Grace. It would still work, but you won't get the overall boost from the team matching bonus.

Yep Rina, from the selector is a superb investment, she gives defence penetration for any team and also works as a good sub dps
