Have you ever experienced a loved one with dementia? I asked because it's often not a slow gradual decline. My great grandmother was basically normal when we saw her at Christmas and it went down hill within a matter of months. By that summer she was noticeably difference and the following Christmas, my grandmother and her siblings were debating whether one of them needed to leave their job to take care of her or if they should put her in a home. It's totally possible that the last time many of these lawmakers were actually in a room with him, he was "fine".

My great grandmother was basically normal when we saw her at Christmas and it went down hill within a matter of months. By that summer she was noticeably difference and the following Christmas, my grandmother and her siblings were debating whether one of them needed to leave their job to take care of her or if they should put her in a home. It's totally possible that the last time many of these lawmakers were actually in a room with him, he was "fine".
