I like, purple paycheck eater. Or.., since your a Mopar fan... Plum Lazy. Whatever you call it... it's cool. I think everyone has owned at least one Beetle at some point in life. I remember as a kid... my step- dad and my uncle had one that was rusted almost in two. The engine from it and a hydraulic cylinder from a D9 bucket made a log splitter that is still being used by the neighbors today. Anyway.... great video. Keep em coming. 👍

Love the Beetle engines simple to work on and you can get some serious power out of them .used in Fire engines for water pumps in Germany ,Austria etc saw mills you name it ..built one or two over the years for trikes etc and had a few trikes in magazines in the past . 100%biker and BSH ..have a look at Scandinavian Rallycross and some British rallycross in The Uk from the 80’s .them boys could tune them beetles up to go like a rocket ..❤🇬🇧🇺🇸❤️👍🤝

@ you can get an adapter that fits on the square plate on the front of the engine that’s under the front crank pulley that you can use a screw on filter for a VW golf etc .
The oil filter cover did look like Ron Jerome's back . Haha That 1600 dual port head engine was my very first victim. Thats when I decided to be a mechanic. And to this day, I'm one of the few guys that welcome old VWs for repairs, but it's not cheap. Check the water pump next to the cat converter. That's why the oil had h20 in it. L.mao. thanks for the memories brother. And to the queen with the brown eyes

I did something like this to pick up a bobcat from New York state in the middle of winter--with the whole family in the back seat of our 2011 Chevrolet Silverado with a 4.8 v8 (DOG INCLUDED) Snow all over everywhere, we had to use the bobcat to get enough space to load it up and head back home! I t was a three-day vacation for us all----except for finding a hotel that would allow pets. I told them she was a part of the family! 🐶👨👩👧👧
Haha sounds like quite the trip! Seems like the toughest trips are the most memorable sometimes. yea we get pretty lucky finding pet friendly places to stay. One drawback though is the room we had smelled like pee. Guessin somebody let their dog in there alone for a while. We nabbed a can of spray from the front desk and doused the place. Was nice being in Deleware and somehow the weather was nice almost like we were on a real vacation from the cold but just coincidence that warm weather came thru the weekend we were there. We came back to half a foot of snow. Fun times in the v dub though! Thanks for watching!

That was a awesome video but as far as parts go we have a local auto parts plats call koi kentuck ohio indiana that has been I our area sence the fifty and they're astore not 3 mikes from me that now I don't drive will send the parts out to me I've been doing business with them nearly 50 years to and my father before me but things aren't not as easy to come buy as they used to be keep up the good videos

Ah yes the 73 Super beetle first year for the bubble windshield & collapsing bumpers to help meet safety standards of the period. That signal bumper prob came from J-Bugs along with a few other goodies. The tube on the fuel tank was to help with vapors. The washer bottle connects to the spare to run the wiper washer pump

@@HustlehousePA1978 from 68 to 73 there were quite a few changes for safety reasons of course. If I remember right is you can swap 71-72 fenders over to get rid of those Elephant tail lights & ugly bumpers. Bugs are fun to work on since all you need is like 5 wrench sizes to take the whole car apart

I ordered sun visor parts for my 74 F100. They sent me freaking tailgate hinges. Pissed me off. This happened today. We emailing back and forth all day with them saying we will see what we can do. I know what they better do. Send me the right shit. My first order with Dennis Carpenter and probably my last.
Daaaaang, Guess it aint only us. Its safe to say that every project car we do on the channel has a parts issue. Most of our stuff comes from rock auto cause its all we can swing. We been doing a 61 Ford engine for the past 6 months or better and its one thing or another every time you turn around and those parts are rare as hens teeth. Looking like we're almost outta the woods with that one now though. Well hope ya get it figured out buddy! We delt with Dennis Carpenter once or twice and dont remember any problems but I cant remember what I had for breakfast. Thanks for watching!

@@HustlehousePA1978 well from the 50s and 60s all the way up to about 1970 they had that swing arm front end and a very flat windshield when it got it to 71 then introduced the Super Beetle and then 7273 all the way up I think till 76 and then they quit making them

That would probably have to happen next time around. Pretty sure those studs on the bottom aren't gonna take much more torquing on them.

@ I’ve had really good luck with Rock Auto. The only reason I didn’t use them is they didn’t have what I needed. I ALWAYS check them first.

@@HustlehousePA1978 well from the 50s and 60s all the way up to about 1970 they had that swing arm front end and a very flat windshield when it got it to 71 then introduced the Super Beetle and then 7273 all the way up I think till 76 and then they quit making them
