Simply that was the perfect Hulk makeup it was closest to the comic the man-monster. Large forehead. But its scared the kids I guess also the transformation sound changed too creepy for the kids.
This is supposed to be the first ever Hulkout of the series, but the first ever Hulkout took place when Banner gave himself a knuckle buster trying to change a flat tire during a thunderstorm, and I would think the last ever Hulkout would have come during the Death Of The Incredible Hulk when Banner changes into the Hulk running down the airport runway chasing down the plane ✈ before it took off.
I have to admit I love the early Hulk outs in the the early seasons because the transformation sounds were more earily and scary and the Hulk look more scary and terrifying. In the later Season 2 they made him more childlike.
This was the first hulk out from the tv series. The tire change was the pilot movie that aired in November 1977. Then it became a two part episode in syndication.
@@ricardolozano5356 You're both right. The first 4 episodes of what's now considered Season 1 were technically TV Movies. THIS episode regarding the prize fighter was the first "Series" episode. This clip would be twice as long if they used the very 1st Hulk out in the rain.
As I've said elsewhere I think they're excluding the pilot episode (of which there were technically 2) and the 3 tv movies that came after the series proper🎩
He buys new ones if he can’t find his original one after a hulk out. As long as his wallet never falls out of his pants when he’s the hulk, then he’s fine. Bruce does the same thing in the comics
Loved this series and Bixby+Ferrigno. But always thought Lou's physique got a little softer each season. As a kid I noticed the Hulk's hair got lighter and they reduced/removed the fake forehead. But seeing these episodes back to back, you can tell Lou didn't have the downtime to stay in top shape. Ironically he was in better shape during the NBC TV movies later!
The changes to the Hulk’s look over the course of the series had nothing to do with Lou’s physique. The producers made Hulk look less monstrous because parents complained that he was too frightening to children in the first couple episodes of season one. They also kept changing his hair because Ken Johnson, the creator of the show, was never satisfied with the way it looked, since it was just a fright wig.
@@Dhampir101980 I agree with you. I'm just saying Lou also got softer over the series. It's a bodybuilding thing. He clearly didn't have the time to work out with the same intensity as he did prior to Season One
@@Dhampir101980 It's funny because as a kid I liked that his features became a little softer. It made the Hulk look more heroic. But as an adult I see that as a mistake especially in the MCU The Hulk is SUPPOSED to be a monster and an anti-hero.
@@duprez2 well, Heroic is what Ken Johnson was going for in the show. That’s why the Hulk never hit anyone, not even Del’s Hulk in the first, part 2. The Hulk only ever threw the bad guys. The Hulk in the MCU is a different story. There, they’ve adapted the “Banner-Hulk” arc from Bill Mantlo’s Hulk run in the 80’s. What we have now is Bruce controlling the savage Hulk’s body. It’s the direction that I personally would have gone in with the character, but eventually in that storyline, Bruce lost control and the savage hulk came back more unpredictable than ever. So, who knows? We could see that happen in secret Wars
I love people in comments who think they are right when they are obviously wrong. Final Round was the first episode of the first season following two TV movies.
The 1st hulk out was hanging his tire. The last one in the show was when David was traveling across some desert with escaped female convicts and one of them was pregnant. The last hulk out ever was in the Death of the Incredible Hulk.
Glad someone corrected the mistakes in the Tagline. I grew up on this show. Don't recall the last Hulkout for the series but knew the first one was way off. Lol
Personally I think the earlier seasons had better transformations than the later ones. The gold standards are found in seasons one and two. I know there was no other way of doing it but the inflatable muscles didn't really look authentic do you know? In the could've gone with him more menacing Grauel than Charles Napier after Ted Cassidy passed away. Hulk just lost that menacing presence.
They never used inflatable muscles on the show. It was always Lou physically. It’s just that the techniques that they used to shoot the transformations changed throughout as the show got more expensive as it went on ( which is what happens with all TV shows). The producers also toned the Hulk’s appearance down from season 2 onwards because parents complained that he was too frightening for some children.
@@Dhampir101980 Wrong!! In the later seasons they used inflatable bags inside a shirt to make it appear he was growing inside it. I have seen the footage of it
As epic as this show was (and I have all the DVDs), I didn't like the glowing face and hair of season 1. But, I get technology and budget of a TV show at the time.
I'm not replying to every comment. To everyone saying Final Round wasn't the first episode: The pilot and A Death in the Family were TV movies in November 1977 and after that, it was picked up as a TV series with the first episode Final Round airing in March 1978.

So the next time people saw the incredible hulk it was the return of the incredible hulk?
He will never be matched.
LOVE this show. My late grandfather got me into The Incredible Hulk series 20 years ago when I was almost 7 and have loved it ever since 💚💜💙
As a kid, you recognized SUBSTANCE OVER STYLE!!!!👍
Me too
Same but my grandma
I love the early primitive hulk look, he became more refined as the series progressed
I wish he kept that look (more neanderthalic)!!!!!
@@timetravelerify I don't. I liked how Big Louie was made up later on in the series, not the early going. Hulk looked too gruesome starting out.

The first (and best Hulk-out) was in the pilot. Absolutely fantastic 😊
The makeup was good in this episode. That primative look was like comics looking.
Happy early birthday Lou Ferrigno!!!
