In 2001, I got a partial spinal chord injury, (Cauda Equina Syndrome), and I cannot do what you two do with all of that hiking. Your videos and watching what you do is taking me where I will not be able to go physically. It is really appreciated to be able to see these places through your camera lenses. I love your personalities and have a lot of fun watching your videos. Keep them coming! 💖
Our first backpacking trip. Looks like you hiked in the day we left. It was awesome but brutal. We are still learning and can not wait for our next one. We did Houston brothers then Fred haught. I think it was 17 miles but we are telling our selves we did 20. Michael kept leaving me behind while I took photos of the mushrooms. So I love it when Tina says “that’s why we are soul mates”.
Some classic Jerry A shots, but do like the new approach in the beginning....and yes, the drone shots! Drone shots are awesome! Dude yall are lot greener in AZ than we are in MN...looks beautiful
You can't rush art! Seriously though, I know it's annoying. When I go canyoneering, I always get flack for stopping to switch batteries. The struggle is real.
Don't mind at all. We saw the bike tracks and I figured it was you. Saw some going down U Bar too, but didn't see that on your vid. THAT trail would be a little too much adventure on a bike.
@@JerryArizona you deserve more subscribers and views for all your hard work, although it’s nice to visit these places without all the crowds that Subbies may bring. Thanks again!
I don't recall that spring exactly, but along that stretch there were two different springs I saw with water on that section. I didn't see an established campsite at one (I THINK it was Coyote Spring - It had a trail cam at the spring) and another further along Barbershop toward Houston Brothers. There was water everywhere. The best spots I saw, outside of Aspen Springs & Dane Spring were in Maverick Canyon Draw and I believe McClintock Draw. Both had water and amazing campsites. Aspen Springs (& Pinchot) seem to normally be occupied. We saw three people hiking on this trip and one was camped at Maverick Canyon Draw. Everything else was empty.
@@JerryArizona thank you, very helpful and timely, id like to make it to McClintock for night one as I’ve also heard that’s an awesome spot, guess we’ll see how early we start that day from General Springs CCW. Very helpful, thanks so much!
I love that area for the fact that it's the wild west. The guy who gave me a ride in his Razor the week before said 'maybe this makes up for you putting up with our noisy UTV's.' I said no way. This is one of the areas it's allowed, and therefore it's to be expected. I know plenty of places I can go and not hear any human noises at all.
Amazing videos, thanks for sharing! Cabin Loop was recommended to me for my first backpack trip. I'm glad I found your video to get a sneak peek of what to expect. Are there any particular places you'd recommend for camp sites or are they easy enough to find?
It's a great route to start, although ironically it's given us lots of trouble. Bears the first trip, thunderstorm the second....Don't let that deter you though because the bears didn't care about us and the storm was my fault for not paying enough attention to the weather. I like Dane Spring/Dane Cabin (34.46654,-111.14936 approximately) or Pinchot Spring (34.50234,-111.19583 approximately.) There are a couple good spots on the U Bar trail between those two. The first is right after you drop down and cross the creek (I think around 34.49456,-111.16509) and another sligthly further along the trail in the same valley. But you can really stop about anywhere out there.
Great video as always and yes Pack It is the best. Keep the drone shots just be respectful of other hikers. Was hiking recently and someone was flying and it got old fast. Travel safe. Oh and don't annoy Tina I think she's a force to be reckoned with.
I definitely try to be aware when I fly the drone. Most places, you can't. Out here, you're surrounded by the sound of vehicles, so it's one of the few where it's allowed. Even then, no one was around when we flew and I always make it a point to get the shots and get the thing grounded as quickly as possible. And unfortunately, I make it a point to annoy Tina....but she deserves it and gives as good as she gets.
Absolutely love your videos! Feel like I know both you and Tina. We just got back from trying a portion of the Cabin Trail based on this video! So beautiful! Thanks for sharing great hiking ideas like this, had never been or heard of this place prior to seeing this video. Keep up the great work!
We're you up there this past weekend? Your last Cabin Loop video inspired me to head up there. I did the other side of the loop this past Sat/Sun (Fred Haught, Houston Bros, Rim Road). Camped not far from Pinchot Cabin. Mushrooms EVERYWHERE! So nice to see all the water... yeah, keep the drone shots!
I think I met you while you where out there, apologies for mistaking you as someone else. Did you by chance get woken up by the loud music at 1:30am? That was coming from Pinchot. Bunch of side by sides rode down to Pinchot (about 8 of them) and partied for an hour before they realized I was camped out there.
We were just up there. After my last failed attempt, I had to get Tina up there to see how green it was (and the flowers and mushrooms). We must've just missed each other.
Beautiful forested hike. The butterfly I saw a few times was gorgeous. Yes keep the drone shots! Great to see the landscape from that vantage point. Thanks for sharing!
Hey there buddy! I’ve been checking out your videos a long while and I’m particularly interested in the Cabin Loop system. Any advice on the best entry and mildest trail portion? Planning a hike with a person who has a disability and this seems like a good system to backpack a mile or two in and camp for a night. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I'd recommend going in from the Pinchot Gard Station on the north end (around 34.50858, -111.19379). Go south down the Houston Draw trail as far as you want, then back out the same way. Beautiful, relatively flat, old cabins, a spring....plenty to see. And it's relatively flat. I can't really tell you the right way to drive in there because there are so many options, but all that I've done are OK in any vehicle as long as they aren't snowy or wet.
I hurt my leg and haven’t been able to walk or hike for the last month, it was nice watching this thank you. 17.5 miles is a long hike! I just realized we have similar nicknames, hah.
Was wondering if you both work or are retired cause some people would think how you manage the time and money to afford to go hiking as much as you do? What is your way to manage this thanks.
Both work full time. We are lucky enough to have plenty of amazing places around to hike and work for places that are very understanding when it comes to long weekends. But like this hike, we can drive up on a Saturday morning and be home Saturday night (although this time we camped up there.) Love AZ.

Drone shots are always awesome! Great hike but did you actually build a fire? Been camping 4 times in 2 years and we get hit with fire restrictions every fucking time. I'm jealous of the fire. Gonna try again all the way in Fools Hollow lake this weekend.
No fire restrictions right now. It’s been a very wet monsoon season so far. It was hard to find dry wood. For us, the campfire is one of our favorite things about being in the backcountry, but we always respect the restrictions when they have them. That’s why it’s such a treat when we actually get to have one!

Love the drone shots 👌
What a great drone shot!
Tina, the drone shots were awesome.
Not just the drone, All your shots are worth the wait! Awesome video. I hope Tina gives you piggy back rides when u get tired.

Those drone shots are awesome.
I told her....but she's impatient.
Drone shots are always worth it, yes! Tina is not ornery, I'm not buying that. Beautiful hike, thanks!
Tina is ABSOLUTELY ornery. But if she wasn't, she couldn't put up with me.
Absolutely loved the mushroom montage at the end, great vid man.
That is a very long hike to do in a day, ouch sore feet for sure. Good thing there was water at the springs.

It's crazy. 6 weeks ago the wholes state was on fire and closed. Now we have a legit monsoon season going. It's great.
Thumbs up for the drone footage. And the flutterbies. And the mushrooms. And ferns in Arizona?
Right? And only 2 hours from home where it's nothing but saguaro and 110 degree temps.
*Great video! Have a nice day!*
