Yes you just witnessed the greatest band of all time and of course the greatest drummer of all time(as well as a tremendous lyricist). RIP Professor you will be sorely missed!!
How is that possible... talent, desire, dedication, and the drive for perfection EVERY time you sit behind the drum kit. All three of these musicians have that attitude... R*I*P* Neil
If you want Epic, try the live version of “Xanadu” from the Exit Stage Left Tour, 1981. Will blow your mind that only 3 people are making the sounds of 5-6 people. Mini orchestra!
Neil Peart is considered if not the greatest drummer of all time, certainly one the absolute best regardless of genre, regardless of personal musical taste. His talent is undeniable. He’s also is the band’s lyricist.
Yes. Yes he was playing the xylophone in the midst of that. And even did a call and response with key changes and then back to drums. There's next level genius. And then, high above that, there's this. RIP.
You are watching the best live band in history. I was priveledge to see them around 18 times (lost count) always incredible, consumate musicianship all around. These three guys fused into something amazing and unique.
If you listen to Alex Lifeson's guitar playing on this song you'll realize that he is using scales common in Middle eastern music rather than traditional western scales during some of the piece. Which gives it some of that exotic vibe. Stuff like that flies under the radar because he doesn't shred like a speed metal guy. But incorporating non western techniques into your guitar playing and doing it seamlessly takes a lot of talent.
These guys are special. A year ago, Neil Peart passed away. It was devastating to ppl around the world. You should check out Geddy Lee the bassist play solo. It’s just as amazing. I love them
Neil Peart is in an elevated class known unofficially as "percussionist". He's not just a drummer. That's why he has no issue with tubular bells, glockenspiel, or straight up xylophone baby... oh - he writes all the lyrics too ;)
I've attended Rush concerts since 1975; all together 18-20 concerts, and each and every time I walk out feeling as if I fought 15 rounds. Yet pumped up, amazed, and satisfied to have seen the best 3 synchronized Rush Musician's perform. I always wondered how 3 people
The worlds greatest. Not because of the press. Just his SHEER precision and talent. Him Geddy & Alex had a bond that was unique. He was an introvert and shy , but the main lyricist, a writer, philosopher, Father. I am Drummer. I cried when he died. An incredible educated man. Lost. He was a Biker too. Toured a lots of the world on his Motorcycle.
RIP to not only the greatest drummer of all time but also known as The Professor. If you get a chance, can you react to his drum solo performance from any Rush's tours either The Time Machine tour or the Clockwork Angels tour in honor of his passing?
I have been a professional drummer for over 20 years, I have learned every Rush song of course, as all drummers must, my kit is considerably smaller though, Lol... But DAMN!! HOW DOES HE MAKE HIS WAY AROUND THAT DAMN LABYRINTH SO FAST AND WITH SUCH HARD HITTING FORCE??? THIS FOR ME IS THE REAL MYSTERY OF THE PROFESSOR!!
The Greatest Drummer To Ever Live Within Our Lifetimes Made That All Possible from playing Acoustic & Electronic Drums and Percussion Instruments With A True Love & Passionate Preciseness, Near Perfect Timing While Living A Humble but Hurtful Life In Doing What GOD Simply Created & Called Him to Do. Thank You for the Honesty & Sincerity which Naturally Shown Through Simply In Your Physical as well as verbal reactions. 💛
That is an electronic marimba that you are referring to. I love how he utilizes what is called a cowbell tree and several wood blocks at the very beginning of his solo. This solo should make you feel much better for Christmas, Scribe.
Yep, mind blown..I had that feeling too 🤯 ‘Xanadu’ from the live album Exit Stage Left. Read the lyrics first and then enjoy their musical interpretation..it’s truly epic. Alex’s guitar solo towards the end of the story is painfully beautiful and one I’ve always loved.
Neil is also an astounding songwriter and poet. He wrote the vast majority of Rush's lyrics. Listening to a Rush song is like watching a Swiss watch move- on the first glance, it's interesting and beautiful. However, if you know how to make a watch, you get an idea of how well the parts work together to make the watch keep perfect time.
Great reaction, Scribe! There certainly is a wow factor to Neil's playing. Watching him play live was like a dream come true... It is hard to take your eyes off of him and his magical drums
he has died of brain cancer on the 7th january 2020 at age 67. he was my idol and drum hero. i picked up the drumsticks and learned to play the drums because of him. he was a force for good.
That was a great solo, I was lucky to have seen it live. Please check out Neil's solo O Batirista from Rush in Rio. Wait till you see it. Cant wait to see your reaction!! Hope you feel better soon.....Rush strong
Bwah-haha-haha! I love the part a little while after the drum solo starts when you suddenly stop using your energy to enjoy what you're hearing and sit back with arms folded to critically analyze WTF is going on. I say that as a person who doesn't dance (I do groove a bit and tap my toe but I never dance to music) Great reaction. I can tell you were totally "MIND BLOWN!"
The drum kit has some electronic drum pads were he's able to make those "horns" sounds but the rest is all drums, chimes, blocks of wood, etc. Feel better girl. Merry Christmas!
I'm SO, SO SAD Since yesterday. WHY GOD, WHY??! 😢 💔 HE'S DEFINITELY IN MY TOP 5 of MY MOST FAV. Male Drummers IN THIS ENTIRE World. 🌎 PLUS of COURSE i LOVE ALL of RUSH's SONGS (as a Female, i'm NOT a damn FAKE FAN, i've BEEN Listening To RUSH Since THE EARLY 1970's). 🎸 🎵 I had just Bought MYSELF a set of Neil Peart Drumsticks last year for MY Birthday 'cause i SERIOUSLY WANT To LEARN How to play the DRUMS. 🎂 #NeilPeart 🌷 #iLoveRush 💌 #canada ❄ ⛄ #RIP 🙏 #FemalesDoLoveRush 😍
New subscriber here. love your channel. Been watching some of your other vids love em. Looking forward to seeing more of your awesome reactions. Have a merry christmas🤘
You have the most musical reactions. I've never seen anyone feel every note the way you do. You obviously have a natural talent of your own, hope you make it big someday.
There is great drummers out there, but THIS GUY, no one can touch him. The best. Sorry for your headache, but I understand, when you first see this guy, the consentration level increases on seeing what he is doing, hence, headache! Get well soon! You are awesome!
My favorite live version of 'YYZ' is on the Clockwork Angels tour, where they have a live backing string section. Also, on the Clockwork Angels tour, we got three drum solo's.
You are watching the best drummer on the planet. The Professor.
Neil beats a set of drums like LAPD working over a black man in a routine traffic stop.
"ONE" of the best drummers. Not "THEE".
God Bless thee Neil Peart.
RIP
I think he has a new nickname. Big Dog!
Do you know if this live version is available at spotify?
RIP Neil. The world lost the best percussionist ever.
RIP Neil Peart....we'll miss you every day...thanks master
Yes you really need to watch YYZ live in RIO. The crowd is actually singing along to it, and it is an instrumental!!
That's just Neil doing what he did. Greatest drummer of all time. And now we live in a world without him. RIP.
I kept giggling and laughing the entire time...... I can never get over the shocked look on her face. So cute and hilarious!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤩
Never again will there ever be a drummer as great as Neil Peart! The music world is less great without him.
Yes you just witnessed the greatest band of all time and of course the greatest drummer of all time(as well as a tremendous lyricist). RIP Professor you will be sorely missed!!
This is why they call Neil Peart 'The Professor'. He's a, maybe THEE master of switching tempos.
So is Phil Collins. Bill Bruford and Chester Thompson.
Actually no lol Ged and Alex came up with that name because he has a striking resemblance to the Professor character in Gilligan's Island 🤣
How is that possible... talent, desire, dedication, and the drive for perfection EVERY time you sit behind the drum kit. All three of these musicians have that attitude... R*I*P* Neil
You have the same look on your face that I did when I saw Rush live on Permanent Waves then Moving Picture s tours. RIP Neil. We miss you.
Yes have to love the magical drumset. RIP Neil!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you want Epic, try the live version of “Xanadu” from the Exit Stage Left Tour, 1981. Will blow your mind that only 3 people are making the sounds of 5-6 people. Mini orchestra!
Hands down best drummer ever!
RIP Neil.. You are the goat!!! So, so, so amazing!!! I'm so happy I got to see them in concert.!!! It was epic!!!
What a difference two weeks can make. :-( ... R.I.P. Neil Peart.
That was Niel Peart. End of explanation. One of the best drummers in the world.
Always jaw dropping to watch Neil Peart. Get well soon.
One of the best drummers on the planet. Glad you feel better. Winter is tough on vocalists.
Neil Peart is considered if not the greatest drummer of all time, certainly one the absolute best regardless of genre, regardless of personal musical taste. His talent is undeniable. He’s also is the band’s lyricist.
I like your style. Loved watching you enjoy Rush.
10,000 hours is all it takes. Start now and you can be as good as Neil by 2112!
40 hours a day!
Maybe by 3112, but that's still pushing it.
@@0okamino You'd have to give up all your free time and weekends!
10 000 hours is roughly 10 years with 20 hours of practice a week
😂
Yes. Yes he was playing the xylophone in the midst of that. And even did a call and response with key changes and then back to drums. There's next level genius. And then, high above that, there's this. RIP.
'RUSH Headaches' are a realization that you are a Rush fan!! 😎😎😎
You are watching the best live band in history. I was priveledge to see them around 18 times (lost count) always incredible, consumate musicianship all around. These three guys fused into something amazing and unique.

And it sounds awesome.
Great but just a simple harmonic minor scale
It's called the Arabic scale
That That My Friend Is The PROFESSOR on the drums ...
These guys are special. A year ago, Neil Peart passed away. It was devastating to ppl around the world. You should check out Geddy Lee the bassist play solo. It’s just as amazing.
I love them
One of the best if not the best bands out of Canada! Proud to say that drummer/percussionist Neil Peart was born in my hometown of Hamilton, Ontario.
I could watch him play for hours!
Neil Peart is in an elevated class known unofficially as "percussionist". He's not just a drummer.
That's why he has no issue with tubular bells, glockenspiel, or straight up xylophone baby... oh - he writes all the lyrics too ;)
I love her reactions to my favorite band...I feel the same way everytime I hear them
Loved the drum solo

Clarity beyond that cloud. Yay!!!
That is Mr. Neil Pratt the Professor of the Drum kit. One bad man!!!!!
PeirtMy bad
Simply the GOAT !!!
RUSH ..... Greatest ever. The world wont get it for another 50 yrs . But they eventually will.
The drum set can only ever be as magical as the drummer lets it become.

Natural Science, Vital Signs, The Trees, and later stuff like The Big Money, Roll the Bones, Mystic Rhythms, and Animate.
And that my dear is why they call him the professor on the drum kit
Hopefully Neil knocked that flu bug right out of you. Epic solo, epic reaction. You're gorgeous and you rock girl!
