Julian is super skilled for his age but more importantly seems like a really humble and polite kid.
the whole video in my head i was like "this kid is way better than me" "hes just better" everytime he lands something, good stuff
That young fella.. wow 🤯 look out skateboarding. When he gets older he’s going to be phenomenal 💯👌
Julian has a lot of style. Always like seeing that kid skate.
and he keeps getting better
These guys are incredible, so much talent in one little spot 😳
i agree. always fun filming big sessions like this
I do the low and slow method where I approach a new trick in the most cowardly way possible. 💯
same. too old to slam haha
I used to go big hack. At a certain point when you progress to bigger obstacles, bailing severely increases your likelihood of injury. Through that I learned that the safest way to bail was to make sure that you at least stick it. Think about it, when you hit the ground moving forward the energy is dispersed. If there's no skateboard under your feet you aren't moving forward, or at least your feet aren't so the impact is not dispersed as much and won one part of you keeps moving in another part stops we know it doesn't work out well. So you have to learn to commit. It's a different mental level of skateboarding. Not recommended for us older guys that need an hour to warm up!
I’ve started redoing things until I feel like I have full control and that I’m not landing it with luck. I’ve gotten WAY more consistent because of it. I feel more actively engaged this way as well.
I think I stagnated a lot without progress of overall skateboarding because of doing always the same tricks and trying to perfect them. I somehow changed my perspective completely and now aim for new tricks. E.g. I never did switch flips and told myself its probably not for me. But one summer I started practicing tricks way out of my comfort zone and found out that I learn so much more in shorter time about overall board control, shoulder placement etc. which also helps better understanding/doing tricks you already can but on top opens doors and your horizon to other tricks you couldnt wrap your head around first
@@jm-jj1kf This x 1000. Especially true during my teen years. Always trying to perfect a trick before moving on. I agree with you that it is MUCH better just trying new tricks everyday and not trying to perfect every trick you have. You will fall into a cycle of constantly doing the same tricks over and over for years because it will never be "perfect" enough for you. It then makes you not even want to try new tricks because you have to "perfect" that trick before you can move on. I seriously hindered my progression in skating trying to perfect tricks instead of just going for new stuff every day/week.
Thanks for that advice man. I showed my nephew an Ollie about 8 months back and he loves skating now. Been coaching lol and he’s like into it. But yeah like he’s trying so hard to get tricks and improve and I don’t really know what to tell the kid when he’s visibly getting worked up over this one trick. But hearing your explaining about good vs bad styles of helping or coaching is a weight off my back that I’m atleast not that guy and that I’m not totally ruining his fun 🤩 so thanks dude. Fly safe Dan C.!
Happy new years everyone
Happy New Year, and many more!
happy new year!
happy new year
Lets go 2023!
This year I’m getting back into skating
If John was in the mob he'd be "Johnny Tre flips".
Happy New Years and keep up the sick content Dan!
I've been watching for a while. Almost every video you post is watch. Love your skating and humor
ayyy thanks, i really appreciate it. ill try to keep it up my friend
Once the kid with the ponytail hits that growth spurt, no spot will be safe from their gnarliness.
I'm about 50yrs old, just got off a 25 year hiatus....and hauling fast makes me commit with higher pops , etc....John Cardiel and Penny Style...Bones r more brittle thou lol...give the youngsters motivation, darn when I get old I can still sk8...like Guy, Koston, Penny, and Daewoon...love you content
god that kid is so good hes a prodigy he must be protected at all costs lol
just not stop landing tricks. its a trip to watch
For real
Love these Rosemead vids, the boys are buzzin!!!! 🤙🏻
yeah i should skate their more
Lucas and Bradford are quickly becoming some of my favorite skaters!
Heel-Flip Tail was looking good. Right on Dude!
WOWOWOWOWOWOOWOW
Last time i was so exited by watching a video was like 15 years ago when i was a kid like Julian.
nice park btw, so now i'll sending this message from my cheap phone while going to the park because you made my day by willing of skate the shit out of myself.
THANK YOU
i agree with that strategy for myself personally is a fear factor the more i am scared the better focused i am must be something from my childhood
pretty similar trick I do is I force myself to do tricks on very short or even sometimes narrow paths like on top of a manny table. It forces me to think and get the right foot placement quicker. Sometimes if I go on an open way and not directly commiting to the trick, i often even get cramps and step of the board before I even try the trick. Just because there is so much room to adjust yourself that I overthink foot or shoulder positioning. But you really progress faster, i think because you go right to the crux of the trick/problem. Sometimes it helps to perfect a trick to give you the time and room but as most wise skaters say: to get better fast. you should aim more for progress over perfection
yoo starting the new year with 100k subs! congrats dude
i'd watch this over street league any day. such talent.
Been pumping out content at high rates Dan, keep it up!
Happy 2023!
everyday my friend. i try haha
@@DanCorrigan omg me and Dan are friends lesgo!
Best wishes Dan. Going for a year full of skating!
ima do my best
101k - Great work Dan - love your videos, your passion for skating, your encouragement to the groms. Everything man - you're the whole package...
You look good with the clean shave btw Dan! Happy New Years.
Great team to watch all skate at once. Lots of different styles that feed off each other
I think skating should be about having fun and not forcing yourself to land a trick. Let the trick come by itself and not only your body, but also your soul will thank you. Skate naturally as if you were cruising. That's my take on this.
well find that balance of progression and cruising
I had a double take moment. I've only ever seen Mountain Man Dan before. You look so different!
When I started learning kickflips and landing them more consistently I would do them into declines to help myself commit more
It makes total sense, everytime I'm trying a new trick, if I ask someone to film it I'm gonna land it in like 3-5 tries, so of course if my life depended on landing a trick I would commit 100% lol
yeah or like when your friend lands a trick so you want to get his back and make it happen.
So much talent in 1 small skatepark 🙌
Wow Dan , incredible video!!! So fascinating and the skating is so gooood
I definitely get that mentality! I mean, I'm no where near the pro level but "don't think, just do" and using an obstacle that's just a *little* uncomfortable has definitely been my go to in order to progress. Not fucking handrails mind you, I'm 33😅 but just about sackable rails or quarterpipes that are just a little taller than what I'm used to
Can't remember which video, but I did check out The Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs, great album & thanks for the recommendation!
This video got me hyped to skate!
That makes sense. When I was younger, my heelflips sucked on flat ground. Most of them were rocket. When I would try them down something, they would pop right up to my feet. It seemed like that extra “need” to clear the stairs/gap changed something in my attempts.
I have tried it with my first flip frontboart it was just easier to commit on the big bank to rail then just a flatbar. The fact that you go faster, have to commit just makes it less scarier.
Happy newyear dan keep up ❤
Bless you for these daily uploads
thanks for watching my friend
I agree Dan .. 122% .. depending on the difficulty I will use lower easier slappier skate spots to learn super tough tricks .. if it’s a trick I haven’t done in awhile and need to kind of relearn I will do some gnarlier rails and stuff
its ridiculous how good that one kid is...like is he a pro? that really long line was so impressive. also, that seems like an oddly high number of powell boards lol
yea hes a pro, he be like throwing a smith down a 15 handrail
Sometimes you gotta just send it and test your limits. I don't personally do it, but when I see others do it, it helps cut out some of my own mental block.
yeah when i see others pushing themselves it helps me a lot haha
Thats the basis of a great session. Always a better session when others are sending!
3:01 this kid makes skateboarding look more effortless than trying to fart
I’ve learned that it’s my preference to try tricks on bigger obstacles. I’m still learning a lot! And need more experience
Not on big stuff, but if I’m going to learn a new trick on a ledge or rail I like to go fast. Makes me commit more and if I do mess up the trick the speed helps me clear the obstacle.
Lucas is mind-blowingly good
Heavy session 🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🏻
Y’all going ham today
Oh shit!....Dan Pague!...That backflip!!!
honestly using scary stuff to conquer new tricks def works haha, got my first kick back lip because i went down a 5 stair rail instead of continuously failin on a flat, WILDEST EXPERIENCE EVER went to try on a flatbar for a whole day didnt land it, went to the wells fargo by my house prolly took like only an hour, had all my boys wit me it was SICKKK ( i was only 15 so yes i was excited) 😂😂
I do that it's how I learned most my rail tricks and it makes it less scary in the long run
Happy new years Dan I look forward to all the great videos u have planned out this year 🎉
That mini Kien Lieu is awesome.
Dan basically drove a little kid into throwing himself on the ground 🤣
That kid is SHREDDING
I usually have the mindset of fully committing but also try to fully commit my bails
i think that if you increase your hart beats rate and your blood flow which adrenaline helps a lot. skating fast and trying big stuff can give you more reflex and prepare your muscles really fast.
Dan GOAT of most proper tricks in a line?
for me this works for game of skates, since u only have 1 try for the most part and i rly wanna win so i skate better
not as extreme as skating scary stuff but it’s a similar principle i think
Love the content...
The Future looks Great 👍
Kid with the pony tail is mad good
That strategy only works if you’re already at a high level of skill.
I'm afraid that's untrue! I can confidently say I'm not a high-level skater but I use this strategy on obstacles I have little to no experience skating. And I can tell you... it works! It's using fear to help push yourself harder. The adrenalin works wonders and you become more resilient to fear. If you aren't pushing yourself each session then you plateau.
i agree with you. i've seen 4-5 kids fracturing their arm or dislocating their elbow, learning how to drop in ._. i feel like the method in this video, can only be done by those who have solid fundamentals, they have more control and they can learn new combo's on down hubba's etc.
I do that when I play basketball. I sometimes do it In every thing else.
I put one red ball in my right pocket and one blue ball in my left pocket. Works wonders!
@@johnglow7845 Ohh, I will give you my balls!
I think there should be a break knee, break neck bar for when its worth a try. Levels of concussion and how much it affects your future ability to skate matters. Besides that it may come down to individual or skill level, like I still struggle with basic stuff so trying to commit to a hand rail feels wasteful compared to getting better at landing clean basics.
Happy new year to you and your girl
I cracked my board by the bolts on a sketchy front heel board slide on a hand rail and I had one chance. It’s like a rush of adrenaline when you know you have to land it this try. Got the trick, but broke the board right after doing a lousy Ollie lol
'Skate till you fall' Said everyone ever :D
*Dan uploads new video* Me: 😃
:)
I always start small then if I feel comfortable I'll step it up. As for redoing sketchy tricks, I don't call it a trick unless I get two in a row.
Isaiah Thomas (yes the basketball influencer - through a training video) taught me the same thing with basketball. Start under the basket, then work your way out.
the chad bartie reference unlocked ancient memories lol
haha dude was a ripper
Happy new year, Dan!
What park is this? :o
Lucas probably - “ Nah, you don’t have to send me the clip, it’ll be easier if you just record it on my phone this next try. “
dan looks so nice cleaned up and much less like a hobo
happy new years dan!
right back at ya
Johns frustration of trying to land tricks after an injury is real
what park is this???????????????????????
kid just kept going holllllyyyyy
I want to try this strategy, but I don't fully understand it. Lets say I want to learn lip slides, do I try it down a downrail and fully send it? or do I need to know how to lipslides before, then go for like a handrail?
see I find this the opposite with downhill longboarding which is what I do most times or almost all the time whenever it's our last run or we have to leave or we're getting kicked out somewhere. we always call it bonus instead of last one because almost all of the time when you call it last run and everyone's trying to get in those final tricks. at least one person gets hurt. so it's just not worth it but I can see the commitment in having one more try and just going for it. but it's definitely two different sports. two different disciplines.
shout out to all my fellow late 30s millennials who have never even stepped on a skateboard before and are binging random skate videos.
Your video are 14 minutes but there 45 mins to me cause I keep going back cause I missed a trick 😄
That little girl is so good
thats a cool park
Happy New Year!
happy new year!
1:32 what black shoes are those?
I like scruffy Dan
Yea man Julian is dumb good. I hope he sticks with it and becomes a top tier pro.
id be surprised if he didnt at this point
@@DanCorrigan for real
Need to get him and ginwoo on a session and watch em push each other
I thought something significant happened that was going to be the title of this video
the mini donger with the red shoes rips
Dan can you please ask where homie got the brown and black jacket/pants combo? i need it. love u
ill try to remember next time i see him!
what size board does julian skate ?
came across this channel a few months ago without following, was kinda confused who I'm watching - the beard and missing
sweetness
Sometimes I do. Where I'm like
..I know I got this but I need to be pushed.
Usually comes with someone I'm with telling me I got it when I'm doubting myself.
So many talented skaters in this one
i agree. they fully wrecked the park
that muscle murmurray
So many tre flips that I lost count.
Landon is so sick
i agree. he can just do it all it seems
Happy new year!
happy new years my friend
