I'm not a religious person but let's look at this for a minute. God asked his angels to love humanity more than himself but Lucifer couldn't do it. Lucifer was an archangel and God's favorite son. We are like a speck of dirt in comparison. Imagine if your parents asked you to love a goldfish or something more than them. Could you do it?
I wouldn’t bring the Bible into this show Lucifer thought he was above god it was his pride and jealousy that lead to his fall. The relationship the angels have to god is different for us as well. He wanted to become god.
