    Awesome podcast guys! So cool to see more aussie vr nuts. fwiw Fallen order plays fine all (fps wise) the way through, there are several crash points on specific map areas that you can play through flat mode (or just repeat in vr a few times). it's amazing even with the cutscene jank.

    I dno about latency, like at first I thought even wireless streaming from your PC would be too much latency but it's fine when it works. if it doesn't really work though it's fucking terrible. like any hickup or quality drop in VR is very noticable.
    so in theory this cloud streaming could work but I think you'd need like perfect internet all the time and a Meta Cloud data center near you. like as usual I think countries like Australia will get the short end of the stick.... (and probably large parts of the US as well)

      We pretty much exactly agree, especially about the internet. we used your comment in our latest episode during comment time

    VR Cloud gaming will be the biggest flop of any flop that has ever flopped. I guarantee it. They've literally been setting in stone about how VR HAS TO BE low latency or it will make you sick for years. This has always been their biggest issue. Now, somehow, not only are they going to be able to do what every other major company has failed miserably at doing so far, making a gaming experience that's at least low enough latency to be able to game at all, but they're going to go above and beyond to make it low enough to do VR?!? I will eat my shoes if they even get close.

      I know it probably won't succeed, but I kind of want to see a person eat a shoe haha

      And mostly a bs shit it dont get u sick people make it out to be this big thing but like never happened to me or anyone in my family/ friend group has gotten sick with vr even in laggy ass steam vr

      You would think so, but have u played xbox cloud gaming? its actually not too bad (for non-competitive games) and is more about streaming assets than a streaming video feed, part of the local module does a lot of processing locally... in terms of latency using wireless usually adds 20ms+ and the quest does ok without the cable in PC passthru... I suspect people might be surprised(me being one of them)

      in one way you are right. but it can save on having a 2000 dollar PC that you have to keep very current. which is expensive, and does sometimes need repairing too.
      on the other hand, i have experienced in life very often that games do not support modern OS updates. or new CPU platforms. and cloud centers can actually support them because they can be ran on specific platforms in the datacenter.
      also, it enables to have proper games on a tiny headset, and i wont need an ugly plasticky computer in my house that is designed to break.
      and if you consider that you cannot play all things forever anywya because your pc breaks or whatever, it isnt really more expensive, and it is more convienient at the same time.
      however, in one way you are still right, i get that. but some people truly need this.
      and very often, games are run trough very quickly, in like 40-80 hours, or other times you are eager to try but dont know if you even like it. and the 2 hour limit for refunding steam games is way to short.

    meta is stupid, people don't have good enough internet.

    • @victorgreygrey
      @victorgreygrey  6 дней назад +1

      That's probably true. But they most likely want to be the first to offer it so they can corner the market

      While it is true, that many people don't have enough bandwidth, it will offer new options to many people, esp. in big, western cities. I don't think, that this move is stupid at all. But i agree, that it is probably error-prone.

    • @zwenkwiel816
      @zwenkwiel816 5 дней назад +1

      I don't think it will be mass marketed at first. they have to start somewhere though. like if everyone is going to sit around and wait until we do all have enough bandwidth and speed we'll never get there.
      personally I'm not all that interested in cloud gaming ATM though, invested way too much in this PC right here XD

    Who cares, I'll just play the game off my computer....
    I dont see a point of this VR cloud gaming unless they have exclusives which isn't realistic.

      You have a computer and that's the difference. You don't need this, but this opens up to people who have no gaming desktops to run PCVR. I have used Shadow PC and Plutosphere. It worked, but you need a very good connection with low latency and you can run and play games with great graphics by computers in the Cloud.

      yeah. I know a lot of users who only have a stand alone. Plus I use Xbox cloud on the quest and I really enjoy it
