I have to fly to John Wayne Airport in Orange County, CA from Newark Liberty International Airport in Newark, NJ with my parents on October 2018.
Sounds like a great trip. I know some airlines have some great deals between those airports these days.
As you know, this airport is 15 miles away from Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA.

It's not the Santa Ana Airport. The destination is Orange County. That is why they don't have a commercial airport in Anaheim. Stop confusing people. The airport is located in Unincorporated Orange County. Unincorporated areas in The OC have Santa Ana Mailing Addresses. JWA is not part of the City of Santa Ana, and well outside the city limits and surrounded by Irvine, Costa Mesa and Newport Beach.

Speaking of rental cars, this airport is the place to rent a rental car when the vacation begins and return a rental car after the vacation is over.

No, you need a permit for ORANGE COUNTY, not Santa Ana. There is no Santa Ana Airport.

@@aldairt4899 JWA is in Unincoroprated Orange County. The mailing address of the airport and other unincorporated communities in Orange County (Lemon Heights, Cowan Heights, Red Hill, etc.) are in Santa Ana but not part of the city limits.
You can't compare LAX to OCJW. Because LAX is an International airport and john Wayne is Not.
Technically it is an international. Southwest typically has flights to mexico and westjet to Vancouver. Nothing outside of north america. Obviously not to the scale that lax has though haha.
Just with covid, international flights have been suspended, southwest will be picking up ther mexico flights in a couple weeks
