14 years old!!!!! thanks a lot for professional analysis and emotional reaction to our treasure Diana Ankudinova! Diana had a hard childhood but thanks to her foster mother everything has changed for the better (you could see her at this performance )! so Diana can translate the soul of the songs and we can get all wonderful emotions! she lives in the song. Go on, please and i'm sure you will be surprised and you will enjoy reacting to her masterpieces!
She was one surving kid of 8 from an alcoholic mother. At age 3 she was found thrown out with broken shoulder in snowy street Far East Ruszia. She was picked up by strangers and given to asylum. The massage therapist there adopted her. Diana struggled with speech till age 5 and her adopted mother took her to singing lessons to develop speech. She is really God's child. God bless this beautiful being on her path, wherever it takes her.
I heard it was distant relatives that found Diana on the side of the road & because she didn't speak to them nor anyone else they thought she was deaf & dumb so they left her in an Orphanage. It took the love of her now Adoptive Mother to give her the Love & attention she so much deserved! Love can cure so many sad situations & turn them right around 180 degree's. Diana is a living example of this!
It was her Aunt who found her and took her to the orphanage.

Thank you so much for your reaction. Diana is an incredible singer performer, STUNNING . This young woman had a really hard start to life. She was abused and abandoned by her birth mother. She was in a Russian orphanage until she was five. At five she was adopted by a nurse from the Orphanage. She has overcome a lot. I have a similar background so it is heart warming to see so much support for her. Thank you so much from Canada

Вообще-то числится в сборниках как обычная свадебная) Обычная девчачья грустная песня, когда свадьба не счастливая, даже не потому что сирота, есть разные варианты текста... Но чтобы ее исполняли перед свадьбой или после именно как обряд, такого нет нигде.

@@dingir1000 К обрядовым относят только песни непосредственно относящиеся к ритуалу, например проводить зиму на Масленицу, это масленичные, есть колядки, щедровки, также посевальные, жатвенные.. Но даже обобщенные в обрядовые всегда конкретизируют, например песни на Юрьев день, а не давай споем обрядовую песню) Это слишком широкое обобщение, не понятно о чем речь, тем более свадебные к ним вообще не относятся. Я думаю потому что обязательный свадебный обряд только в церкви, а на свадебных гуляниях пели все подряд и спеть Реченьку там совсем не обязательно)
Все народные песни изначально обрядовые вообще-то, от колыбельных до игровых... Можно смело поставить знак ровно и просто переназвать народные в обрядовые, что вы и сделали) Не понятно только зачем? народ всегда разделял что к чему, да и оф классификация тоже. Не понятно почему на Диане все резко начали писать про обряды и ритуалы, еще и иностранцам) Когда даже нам не известно в чем тут ритуал)
Вот еще вам пример из того что часто слушают иностранцы, Во поле берёза, о природе, значит однозначно корнями обрядовая, даже слова в ней есть непосредственно из обряда когда заламывали или пригибали к земле берёзу и сплетали ее ветви с травой, на Русальную неделю) Ну точно обрядовая))) Но нет, она хороводная конечно же, исполнялась группой девушек когда угодно в хороводах. Иностранцам я бы написала просто народная, а Реченька свадебная, про несчастную невесту. И сразу все понятно, зачем путать людей...

The song is called “The river” or “The orphan bride”. The bride is asking, “ You river, my little river, you flow but does not cradle”. The river answers, “You child, my little child”, why are you sitting but not smiling”. The bride:” Oy girlfriends, my dears, I have no reason to be cheerful, I have no reason to be smiling.( Then she gets excited for a moment, singing) “Our yard is full of horses, our house is full of guests”(then the voice slide that makes the hearts ache). “I have no mother, nor a father to give me blessing”. Then she starts roaring like a wounded animal (the yodel part). Then again, “You river, my little river, you are flowing but do not cradle”. It’s so much better if you understand the story.

Thanks Valerie for your reaction . I spent a lot of my life in the forest and I understand the natural meaning of a river (Rechenka). It is a crossing point between Humans and Beast alike . Diana reminds me of a Free-Spirit a wild spirit just like a Wolf.

Love the review. That Ghostly voice "You never smile" In context I believe is the spirit of the river, or of her mother from the river, seeing her sitting on the bank motionless and sad, telling her "до тичего ты сидишь. Ты не улыбаешься" ("Up to nothing, you sit. You never smile") I only had three semesters of Russian, so there may get a better translation from a native Russian, but it seems to fit the story, so it should be accurate.
In many Eastern cultures, the river has a spiritual significance, the spirits of the dead return to the water. and in the song, a young orphaned bride goes to the river lamenting. The guests are all at the house waiting, the horses are in the yard, The wedding guests are all at her house, but she has apprehensions about getting married, and no mother or father to advise her or bless her.
VWW...Look into her back story and you will understand her emotion. You will probably shed a tear, i did.. She was abused ( beaten ) and abandoned by her MOMSTER at 4 or 5 years old.. Her extended family found her on the streets alone. They took her to an orphanage, she did not speak. A worker there took her to a singing teacher to see if he could help. It worked, she started to make yodel sounds to the music. She started to learn to speak and started to sing. About four years later the woman adopted her as her mom. She is the lady in the glasses in some of the videos. Quite a sad and then heart warming life story.

So impressed by your reaction and the promise of more of Diana's performances that I had to subscribe. It's difficult to find superlatives to describe Diana, all the usual ones are insufficient to describe this wonderfully beautiful performance. 'Rechenka' is my favourite but so many others. The English songs are amazing especially 'Tomorrow is a lie' and Adam Ferello and Diana's 'Vibes', the nearest to pop music. Thank you, I look forward to the next ones. xx

Will probably top the lists but there are many others. I hope you will react to more of Diana as you will see that she is very versatile. And sings in several languages (e.g.: Rechenka (Реченька) = Russian, Human = English, Dernière Danse = French, Me Voy = Spanish). As you know, she doesn't just sing. She performs and re-interprets. She also dances, including tap.

I've started uploading at times that work best for my world wide fan bases when it comes to certain singers from Russia and Europe.
Just so you know, her name is pronounced

[I'm a bit of a stickler for getting names right, because *so* many people mis-pronounce *my* name!]
The song is derived from an old Russian folk tale about an orphan girl who is supposed to marry someone she doesn't love, and so she goes down to the river (the border between the living and the dead) to talk to her mother and get her advice. That strange rough whisper is the spirit-voice of the mother.
I label her as a Total Performer; her body-language and hand-gestures, the 'effects' she adds to her voice, the strengthening or softening of the projection of her voice ... it all comes together as a unified Performance to tell the story of the song. Yes, she is indeed a natural story-teller! And she can do all this *so* well, at *only 14!*
You should do a reaction to her performance of 'Human'; the chanting/yodeling there is *so* evocative, in my opinion! (Or have you done that already?)
This is the own making of Diana 100% at the age of 14 as, she is a wonderful creator.

This was the first of 9 shows. Each contestant(9) gets to sing 1 song of 9 different 'genres/styles'. In this first show
Diana had to do a song from the Grammy Awards, next show someone else will have to do the Grammy.
The tenth person in the middle of the top row is a different guest each show.
The FULL video link below has 11 segments, the first is an intro to the show, the 9 that follow are all of the contestants
performing, the second last segment is Diana singing, and the last segment is the voting session.
No contestant can vote for themselves. The scoring points are from 2 to 9 and each point can only be given once in
every show. (NO Judges, voting done by contestants)
The contestants are as follows: 7 from the "Mask" show and 1 from the "Superstar"(Alica Mon) show, also 1 from the
"You Are Super"(Diana) show.

I was deciding between learning Russian and Chinese, since I feel these are the two nations of the future, but Diana decided me to learn Russian, since Russia has so much more soul. Although the production values and staging are incredible and make AGT look weak, I didn't even notice them the first time I heard this, I was so hypnotized by the singing.
