I'll say without hesitation that PROMETHEUS was a huge surprise for me. It simultaneously connects to the original classic ALIEN, while standing on its own two feet as a solid piece of science-fiction cinema that asks familiar questions about the creation of life and our own place in the universe. It may not reach the blood-freezing heights of ALIEN, or the balls-to-the-walls energy of James Cameron's ALIENS, but in comparison to the mostly forgettable subsequent sequels/spin-offs that followed, PROMETHEUS is the most competent and entertaining film in the series since ALIENS

The news that Ridley Scott is returning to fiction after so many years, namely to the universe of alien monsters with acid instead of blood, has inspired hope and confidence among moviegoers around the world that we will receive another universally recognized classic of movie fiction.💫 The genre of fiction, where scientific issues are touched upon, is a vast area for the manifestation of all creativity, all imagination, which the director and other members of the film team are rich in. And here Ridley Scott decided not only to show overly complicated fiction with advanced technology, but also thought about the questions that humanity cannot find questions for or builds theories and guesses. Yes, many theories are refuted, but this does not mean that they do not have the right to life and should not be considered by anyone, which is what the director tried to do. After all, every person thought about it and asked himself: "Who am I?", "Who is my creator?", "Where did we come from?" And after watching the movie Prometheus, Darwin's great theory about the origin of man is put, at least by me, in deep doubt. If we analyze everything, then people who create high-quality fiction have the phenomenon of "genius", that is, people who are ahead of time. After all, until recently we could not even imagine that we would have such technologies, automated equipment, robots. And who knows, maybe in a few decades people will be able to fly to an unknown planet on a spaceship while in hypersleep. The marketing campaign to promote Prometheus was built very competently, which allowed it to become one of the most mysterious and anticipated film projects of recent years: nostalgic posters and virus videos that increased the level of interest. But as practice has shown, not everyone's hopes were justified, and there are various reasons for this. Below I will describe my "curve of interest", which will describe aspects that deserve praise or, conversely, bewilderment towards the creators of the picture. Stunningly. From the first seconds of viewing, the film fascinates with its high-quality visual component. And to my delight, 3D has only played to the benefit here.: it was not made in the frame of "hit the viewer", but on the contrary showed the depth of all the beauty of the surrounding nature. Special respect is due to the fact that the film used a large number of natural decorations that are going out of fashion, and excellent makeup, with some exceptions, but more on this below, with minimal use of computer effects. Mysterious corridors, a vast hall with an unknown statue and a huge number of vase-like vessels gave an unforgettable environment. I was also pleased with the presence of a small number of shots with the bottomless space through which the ship is moving. Here are some more visual advantages: - A grandiose ship that bears the name of an ancient Greek hero; - Space, which forces us with its scale, boundlessness and mystery; - The planet itself, to which they arrived: amazing landscapes, natural elements, waterfalls, the atmosphere of the planet; - Numerous alien structures, corridors of an unknown object, an alien ship familiar to us; - The main visual surprise of all fans of the Alien cycle awaits at the end of the movie. No less attention should be paid to the excellent, sometimes intriguing, shuddering musical accompaniment. The actor's flavor also does not go unnoticed. The main character is defeated by her idea and for her, as a geologist, it is important to discover something new, to give answers to many questions of interest. Michael Fassbender had an equally interesting role, in the role of an android robot, outwardly indistinguishable from a human. His acting in the two previous diverse movie's 🎬 "X-Men: First Class" and "Shame" left a good impression. All his movements, looks, and conversations were convincing. I'll also mention Charlize Theron. Her character Meredith Vickers looked distant and mysterious. In contrast to the well-executed title roles, there are secondary roles, which are played by two geologists who have separated from the main team due to their inappropriate behavior. Here, every sane person would not have done what they did, which later led to an unfavorable outcome of events. It is unclear the presence of Guy Pearce in the image of an old man who owns a corporation, with unimportant and ugly makeup. It would be easier to take a person who is at retirement age. The actress's endurance after surgery is also outraged, but on the other hand, we cannot know how far medicine has gone. The inexplicability of the facts, namely, that scientists were not able to accurately explain the reason for the flight: so the found drawings, which allegedly served as a star map, look at least not an appropriate reason. Time is running out irrevocably, and I still remember my first viewing of "Alien", which at that time caused fear. And for me, let's just say, a partial return to that world was a pleasant surprise. Yes, the movie has flaws, but this does not make it unworthy of attention and respect. Many people come to understand some ambiguities with each other viewing (for example, DNA cells at the beginning of the film, many do not understand what they are shown for). With such a competent approach to this world, after the creation of the film: "Alien: Paradise Lost" or as its new name: "Alien: Covenant", we were able to see the sequel, in which we learned all the answers to the questions that arose when watching 🪬 Prometheus 🪬

@@Th3Gam3925Hm.. The source mentions the book "Ridley Scott. The genius of the visual worlds. From "Alien" to "Martian"."
This is a unique chronicle of the director's creative life, which tells his journey from the first filming of an advertisement to "The Martian".
The book contains a lot of archival material from the filming, comments from the director and funny stories from the cast and crew.

Ridley Scott made a prequel to the first Alien movie and created a new storyline for the next movies. The director of the innovator has not shot in the genre of science fiction for a long time and decided to return to it again. I don't remember anyone shooting in this genre right now. In Prometheus, Ridley Scott realized ideas that he couldn't realize in the 70s when he was making the original movie

I completely agree with the above. Complex fiction, but very interesting, fascinating and ambiguous! We need to look carefully. And after reviewing it, I enjoyed the script, the actors. And by the way, many of the scientists assume the same version of the coming of the human race to earth as in this movie. In the movie, of course, and in general it is clear that this is fantastic

    • @Th3Gam3925
      @Th3Gam3925 2 месяца назад +7

@@SoniaSoWebb The origin of the Alien is so completely convoluted and unnecessary.
David spiked Holloway's drink with the black goo. Then Holloway impregnated Shaw with a squid Alien which then impregnated an engineer that gave birth to a "proto Alien"
The whole thing is so ridiculous.

I like this movie too much for the production quality. The frames, the cameras used, the acting, the story, dialogue, props, sets. Just the amount of work put into making it that top shelf quality. Even the deeply disgusting scenes are still somehow lovely at the same time. Great work to the entire team that made this one. You can see the love that was put into it.

A spectacular, gloomy, sometimes creepy science fiction film by Ridley Scott, with deep meaning, making you think about intangible things in places. It is not for nothing that the spaceship is called Prometheus - in honor of the titan who created the human race. So at the beginning of the film we see the execution of one of the super-creatures (an Engineer), whose cells contributed to the origin of life, possibly on Earth. Hence the subsequent desire of these creatures to destroy their own kind by means of a creepy life form bred on one of the planets. The director portrayed scientists who stop at nothing to confirm their theory quite angrily💥

I already said it elsewhere and I repeat it, the real hero of the movie was the alien worm that killed the incompetent geologist who couldn't orient himself and the incompetent biologist who couldn't identify that the creature had a hostile attitude.

I remember watching this movie with my sister. You can immediately see when a master of his craft is working! What an idea and what an embodiment... definitely A GOLDEN COLLECTION! Ridley Scott uses this movie to develop his theme about space and unexplored worlds after his four movie hits "ALIENS", and how he will subsequently connect and show it all. And then the sequel ... Noomi Rapace alone is worth a lot, and of course Fassbender is as good as ever! A wonderful movie!🔥

In my opinion, the picture is underestimated. It was mainly seen as a prequel to Alien. Although she is good at this as well. I think, however, that people of older generations immediately guessed that Prometheus was a film that outlined a fundamental reversal of feature films towards classic science fiction. The one in which the main thing is not only and not so much external effects. And a philosophical rethinking of being, as Isaac Aizimov, Stanislav Lem, Robert Sheckley and other luminaries once taught us. Isn't that why it was announced in Prometheus Is the Creator just one of many on his planet? Besides, he is lawless and eccentric

Despite David being under orders and an android, he still has this curiosity to him that's interesting to watch. He likes to explore and experiment, he's very terrifying how cold and detached he comes off as, regardless of if he's being polite. He really has disdain for many of that crew and views them as disposable as Weyland and Vickers did. First time watching this I immediately didn't trust him, regardless of him being a machine or not

However, stupid is better than stupid and forgettable, which is what made it hard for me to give damn about the characters in "Alien: Covenant." OMG You two babys! First off I'm ANGRY and UPSET with you.😡😡😡 Remember the movie ALIEN '79? I wrote you a long, long comment about the Alien Movies series. (It's my favorite and i know everything about it) I told you BEFORE watching ALIENS you need to watch this movie Prometheus. It happened BEFORE ALIEN. Remember the company ? Weyland industrys? Well here is the original Peter Weyland. Remember ASH? Well Ash is the second generation of the Robot. DAVID here is the first generation. You see here how evil David is. Now if you watched this movie you would have understood where the Aliens came from. I write you another long, long comment here.
The planet in Alien where Ripley and crew crashed on is in the LV star System. THIS movie is another Planet in the LV star system. Thats how in ALIEN the computer diverted the Nostromo because the Company already knew there were Aliens from this movie. Peter Weyland and David sent back radio messages to the headquarters., but the Weyland company did have the technology to get back to this planet right away so when Ripley and crew comes along the are sent to another LV planet.
Doesn't the Engineers space ship remind you of the crashed one Ripley and crew found? Doesnt the Engineers chair look like the exact same one? YEs BECAUSE it is just another ship trying to leave that was already infected with Aliens and crashed.
So Ripley and crew take Kane back into the ship and ASH lets him in. Ash had instructions to bring back the Alien life form because Weyland radio message them before dying. ((This is also key to other movies in the series) So we now know that the Engineers created man and were going to destroy the Earth, but Shaw and the Captain figured out what they were up to and the Captain crashed this ship to stop it.
NOW COMES ALONG ALIENS movie sequel. Well the Company has sent a group of Earth teraformers to LV 426 and when Ripley is found 57 years laters they get more infor about this planet and Aliens. So evil company man sneds a raio message to the colony to investigate the location where Ripley reported the crashed Engineers ship was and sure enough the guy, wife and Newt the little girl find the ship and the aliens attacked him.
In come the Marines with Ripley.to tryand save the place. Here the third Generation Robot "Bishop" they finally got a robot made right and he now safeguards human life about all else .
OK now lets go back to Prometheus.. Evil robot David gets Elizabeth, Dr. Shaw to fix him and they are last seen leaving in another ship to go where the Engineers came from. The SEQUEL to this is the movie ""ALIEN COVENANT."" Needless to say now you can watch it, having an understanding about the series. and follow what happens to David, Dr. Shaw, the planet the Engineers came from. I will not tell you more because of "spoilers"
I did tell to you also BE SURE TO WATCH THE 10 min DELETED conversation in Prometheus between David, Weyland and the Engineer.but of course you didn't 😡😡😡😡 Director Ridley Scott said he cut most of it out because he thought it gives the fans too much info. I disagree, as a fan it tell me so much more about the Aliens, Engineers, their plans..SO this Deleted cut is available here on RUclips for Free. PLEASE watch it and do it as a short clip before watching Alien Covenant.
Now as far as the other moives in the series ALIEN 3, ALIEN RESURRECTION, I dont care for them. i think they are dumb, however other fans will disagree. It's up to you, if you like this series or not. There is a brand NEW ALIEN movie set to release anyday now. It is set to occur in the timespan between the 57 years Ripley was missing. So needless to say Im very curious about it.
NOW ONTO YOUR REACTIONS..I do love them. Vicky loose them metal hoops your wearing on your ears..They don't look good. Compliment to the nice cloths you got on. I think the male fans prefer to see you in shorts so they can look at you nice long legs btw...😃
and I must ask you this Lea, based upon your reactions to the snake going down the biologist throat....Do you swallow???
OMG you had me rolling on the floor lol here!!🤣🤣
OK guys. PLEASE FOLLOW MY SUGGESTIONS this time!!!!!!! This took me 45 minutes to write. So take a few minutes to write me back a comment.....

Yes. She and Laura are the only ones who haven’t. Magy should watch with them, since she’s seen the most, including the TV shows.
