I went tonight, was utterly bewildered by the cavalcade of the commercials. And then even more bewildered that the script reading ended after one episode! I'd think that the cost of getting everyone into one room would have greatly outweighed the cost of having them continue making them.

    I FORGOT TO MENTION!
    - I thought all the actors did great, and this was one of the best recent Peter Cullen reads I've heard in a while, he really sounded energized compared to the movie stuff
    - Occasionally I stopped watching MTMTE part 3 and started watching someone in the row below me play Marvel Snap on their phone
    - Can you count the total number of Lost Media Frames in this video?

Im glad the first episode was good! but it seems to do all this for a theatre presentation for 1 episode. and the rest just dvd. If they couldnt do actors. they could have edited for facts about the episode running at the bottom. Decisions at the time of what was needed for the episode. picture in picture of character art etc. I know some of the info is already out there. but they could have repackaged and redited it in a way so the rest of the episodes were at least seem more like a new experience than the dvds

unusually, the UK version of this had none of the ads. all we got was regular, boring cinema ads and then an earthspark season 2 promo before the program began.

I ALMOST wish they put the commercials between the show's commercial bumper. I'm still not sure if it would've broken flow, but it would've been BRILLIANT.
I can't recall the name but the guy who did the Jazz read in episode 1 was amazing.
    Things I noted:
As a toy presentation first, very little of the show was quality media. Voice work did a lot of lifting for the pacing, art, and even the script.
You could FEEL the show was scared of being too violent.
Spike and Sparkplug kept throwing themselves against the Cons. These guys are equal parts helpless and willing to fight god.
There were a lot of abilities you see once and only once. Most toy features, a few nonsense (Megatron can reprogram memories?)
I could've sworn there was a moment where the Autobots lost flight. They just stopped.

In the Netherlands, we didn't get any of those commercials, it started RIGHT AWAY with the earthspark season 2 teaser (I had no idea what was going on, as I never got to see season 1).
I agree with everything you said, and the first episode was definitely the highlight, but watching Megatron on a huge screen helicopter-ing away from the dam fight with his mace is now living in my mind rent free.

The commercial thing is really funny, I see that with a lot of Fathom Events and other special screenings, what feels like ANY commercial even tangentially related to the thing people are there for. Saw the new Gundam movie recently and same deal, very "uhhhh here's some model kits and Tamashii Nations and also look official youtube!" promos that I can't imagine exist anywhere else, just awkwardly slapped on cause it's related.

Huh, I watched the event in Germany two days ago - there were no commercials for any of the current products and no Pulse segment. But the trailers before the event featured the current Transformers One trailer, which was kinda nice to see on the big screen.
The real big surprise though - episode 2, 3 and 4 had an ENTIRE new German dub! And it was AMAZING! I did not recognize any of the voices from other German productions (well, two sounded familiar, but I have not checked on this yet). At first the voices where kinda strange to hear, but after a few minutes you really felt the voices, like it was a real German 80s dubbing production. Someone really put effort into this dub - with the scripts, the translation, and the voices chosen. On some the voice effects where a bit over the top (like Megatron), but Soundwave was perfect! Overall I would say it was almost perfect, there were some context errors here and there but nothing major. I really hope this paves the way to a new German dub of the G1 cartoon (we have a G1 and a G2 dub from different studios with different actors, but not all episodes have been dubbed in either version; some episodes have a G1 and a G2 dub, which is kinda funny), at least the first season, which is my favorite. I cannot wait to find out what they are gonna do for the 40th anniversary of TFTM here in Germany - will we get a new dub as well?

Interesting, we didn't get any of that in the UK.
I went to a cineworld to see it, we just saw the standard latest trailers (Including, fittingly Transformers One with different dialogue which was fun), then straight into Earthspark clip and into the main presentation. Overall I thought it was a good time.

I just got out and left after episode 1 like you’d mentioned on Bluesky. It was Welker who said at the end of the gag reel “When can we do this again? 😁” and honestly I don’t think there’s a more energizing way to watch an old cartoon than this way. Seeing the actors’ faces was wonderful. I would love to see Hasbro do this again with another episode or set of episodes.
Also, I have only given a slight look at Prime Wars and the WFC Trilogy, so this was my first time really hearing Frank Todaro as Starscream and he’s incredible. The best way I can describe it is he does a near perfect impression of Latta but simultaneously makes the performance his own.
On the topic of the masters, I was actually trying to watch my Shout G1 DVDs recently and noticed how bad some of the interlacing artifacts were. I wonder if blown up to theater size that was enough of a problem that they opted to go for the Rhino versions. I’d never actually seen or heard the Rhino version before but there’s a lot of clanking foley that I’m certain was not there originally.

    • @Vangelus
      @Vangelus  2 месяца назад +1

Yeah the additional 21st century foley work is a frustrating hallmark of these Rhino masters >.<
And I agree Frank is so good at performing Starscream! I really hope he gets more chances to showcase that in stronger media than those two trilogies
