Forest battle is the greatest fight in the franchise change my mind
The franchise? It's one of the greatest CG action scenes in all of cinema. People can hate these movies all they want, but it makes me shake my head when they try to discredit the computer generated marvels that were the three original film's action scenes.

It is certainly up there, the best action scene in all of the live-action movies easily. It is honestly my favorite action scene in any movie, its so damn good.
Best scene in this franchise Dinobot charge. The score for that scene is still amazing.

20:27 the twins were actually not intended to be racist stereotypes, the voice actors and writers intended them to be wannabe ganster stereotypes. They were actually surprised to see people thought that way
Edit: rotf handled the death of Optimus better than the original 86 movie
now that i think about it, if it wasnt for the twins then Sam wouldn't have found the matrix. or at least immediately after seeming like all hope was lost.
And who do folks think of when it comes to gangster stereotypes that talk like that and don't read? If they didn't think about that, it shows their racial biases even more bc no one thinks of that and associates it with white people/teens.

Fun fact: During the final battle where the fallen teleported to a group of soldiers, if you look closely to the bottom left, you could get a full view of a guy getting decapitated, like his head straight up went flying, fully on screen.
I love these videos, cause they make me feel less delusional for really liking these movies. They're not perfect, but there's so much good and fun about them, that I can't help adoring them, and it's just nice to hear that I'm not the only one who thinks this way. Keep it up. I can't wait for DOTM (my personal favourite).

As a kid, this movie was the one I grew up with. I loved seeing Optimus being so cool and I loved the fight scenes. When Optimus died, I was probably scarred. I still love this movie regardless.
Revenge of the Fallen is my third favourite in the Bayformers franchise, sure it has its problems, but the problems never bothered me too much as it's under the shadow of the epic action the film offers
My personal headcanon is that Optimus's 'give me your face line' and exceptional brutality at the end is the remnants of Jetfire's personality mixing with Optimus's whilest he's merged with him

I just watched it, and hownstly it surprised me how much I enjoyed it. The theme of Sam and his parents coming to terms with him being his own man was really well done honestly, and that moment where his dad is begging they all go together almost made me cry.
There are some flaws within the editing, writing, and what not, but it was a really fun ride that me and my wife enjoyed after getting high. Glad to see I’m not the only one who likes it
I never understood the criticisms of Optimus killing his enemies..
I mean yeah, he wasn't doing it in the cartoons but that's kind of the point, the movies aren't cartoons. They obviously went for a bit of a darker tone.
Another detail that people seem to forget is that the Autobots are FIGHTING A WAR!
A brutal war that lasted for eons and destroyed their planet, I think it's a bit too late to take POW's. 😂
I know it's weird to see a childhood character cross that line but, there's logic to it.
Not every character needs to be Batman.
Revenge of the Fallen is my most rewatched film ever, this was the first transformers film i've watched when i was a kid and by the time i've seen it on theaters, i was so hooked; that when the blu-ray came out I rewatched the heck out of it! But that caused the disc to render uplayable...But that didn't stop me from watching it atleast a few more times up till today, although it is the most rewatched movie in my life its not my favorite in the series (That goes to dark of the moon) but its where my passion for the transformers started, and I cant deny how the franchise inspired my own artistic works to this day.
I loved this movie 🍿 it never gets old, I love doing Stop Motion animation with my Movie & G1 Transformers mainly 🎬📸🎞️‼️
The first two is something special. Definitely a perfect nostalgia of the mid-late 2000’s.

Jetfire is also awesome because he’s the Blackbird. One of the most gorgeous planes ever created that still holds records to this day. I loved the Blackbird as a kid so seeing it in this movie was great and that he was a transformer.
I always loved how, when Bee pisses on Alice, Sam just watches at first, thinking "Wait, it that...?" Then remembers Bee pissing on Simmons and goes "Ouh, OUH!!!! WOOOOAH!"
Btw the satellite that Soundwave taps into is the Nest satellite they are using to have their little video conference with the generals.
This is actually the first transformers movie I’ve seen in theaters and I was so hyped when optimus got his wings
Greatest moment in history is when Megatron smacks Starscream over the back of the head with Starscream’s own severed arm
I’ll also go ahead and say- I think it’s overhated more than underrated. The distinction for me being people say it’s one of the worst movies of all time when it isn’t, but the people that like it (including myself) still go “yeah I mean it’s only /sort of/ horrible”
@@ElaineClush I like it better than the 86 movie, so no I don't think it's "only sort of horrible". I only think that about Dark of the Moon, because scenes like soldiers escaping a collapsing skyscraper and Sam taking out Starscream are the only thing stopping me from hating that movie.

Overhated? Yes
Its very cool to see someone not only really like this movie, but also have so much to say about it! I did a review/retrospective on it a few months ago and it came out just under an hour! Very cool to see others have a lot to say about this movie with most of it being positive. I wholeheartedly believe that it is underrated, it may be the weakest movie of the first 3 Bay movies but it is my personal favorite. I agree with much of what you said about the film and enjoyed your thoughts on certain things. Its nice to see someone else think that Optimus wasn't unjustified in killing Demolishor, he wasn't innocent in any way, I'm glad someone else called out how great the scene is with Sam telling his parents to get out of the battle. Plus pointing out the very apparent themes, Sam's story, finally someone else gets the "robot heaven" scene, etc. Excellent stuff! The only thing that I'd disagree with is the Twins, they made me laugh, that "its supposed to hurt, its an ass kickin'!" bit always gets me, and I honestly don't see them as racist.
But still great video! I enjoyed your video on the first movie and really enjoyed this one! Looking forward to Dark of the Moon, I love that movie, and honestly I know you don't really like it but I wouldn't mind hearing your thoughts on Age of Extinction. I never disliked it, but my opinion on it has gone way up since first seeing it in 2014 and I honestly think it does a good job following up on DOTM.
I actually enjoyed how AOE placed more focus on Optimus Prime as a character and how he had to slowly relearn how to place his trust in the humans, especially after the humans turned on the Autobots. I totally get why he is the way he is at the start of the movie, jaded and angry. I would be out for blood too if my friends and comrades were hunted and melted down for transformium. Best story arc for Prime in the Bayverse.
@@darrenccwong I enjoyed the focus on Optimus. It was a simple character arc, but I really enjoyed it, Prime is completely justified in his actions in that film and it is very understandable why he is so jaded and angry. I'd also argue that AOE had Peter Cullen's best voice performance of all the live-action movies and maybe even in the entire franchise. He does excellent work in Age of Extinction!

I can't honestly say I agree with EVERY part of this defense, I'm not sure I'd even say that there's more good than bad to this movie in particular, but I do 100% agree that all these movies have a lot more good qualities than most people acknowledge, and it's great to see someone pointing some of those out instead just jumping on the "I hate Bayformers" bandwagon like most people seem to.

The sixth blip was actually Grindor. Which apparently was Blackout from TF ‘07. Apparently he was close enough to the shard blast to be revived.
Gotta tell ya. I love this style of video. I have watched endless amount of movie analysis videos and the long videos (long meaning like an hour long or more) are my favorite without a doubt. Great format, love the little edits adding in little scenes to help complete you’re point is amazing. Just brings it all together, makes it more engaging. Love it, keep it up. Can’t wait for you’re new videos.

Definitely. I rewatched it last year expecting to view it differently since I hadn’t seen it in like 4 years but- no. I laughed out loud several times during it and really enjoyed my viewing of it I loved it as much as when I was little. I guess for some people others just can’t ruin your enjoyment of certain things

Soundwave sending a decepticon dog, who sends beads, who sends a decepticon to get the shard has the same energy as Palpatine sending a man, who sends a man, who sends a shapeshifter, who sends a robot, who sends bugs to go kill Padme in Attack of the Clones
I mean other than the humans scenes other than nest I think this movie is golden. They really under utilize a lot of Autobots like Sideswipe, Arcee, Chromia, Elita one, Jolt, Ironhide, and Ratchet. I know the last 2 were in the last movie but they were just shoved out of the way just for Skids and Mudflap which I think were ok. The opening of the movie was also badass but I wished we could've seen some more of these missions because it was amazing. Overall I enjoyed this movie just like you just wishing there was less human screen time.
When Lennox says "Arcee twins heading your way" I think he actually meant "Arcee's and twins" referring to Skids and Mudflap, that line confused me for the longest time 😂
I love this whole series, even AOE and TLK while they are the worst I still love watching them. Rotf is one of my favorite even if it only beats those two movies it doesn’t mean there isn’t a jump in quality between them and this though in my personal opinion
I believe it had potential out of all of the films in the original series, if you look into it deeply:
The decepticons are leaderless, Megatron is dead, and this could explore a more depth-like story of how they fall apart easily without Megatron holstering the faction. This is shown somewhat when the decepticons: Demolisher and Sideways don't even bother trying to kill their enemies the autobots and try to escape. Starscream is considered the most chosen subordinate, as the Fallen is inactive, via chair, Soundwave, while considered Megatron's close ally in some situations, is also inactive as he is busy learning of the location the allspark shard or Machine. This could've been a good chance to explore on how Starscream could've tried to become the leader, proving his worth to the Fallen that he could take down Prime, and rule earth, without Megatron.
The new autobots are on earth have trouble bonding with humans. No allspark and no means of returning to cybertron, they must learn how to live on this new world and some could consider it an ultimatium or terrible to live on, while Prime is having trouble to get these new autobots into the motion as well. Replace, Sideswipe and Arcee instead of Skids and Mudflap and you'd have a more dynamic story with them and Bumblebee and the humans.
More of the transformers' origins could've been explored somewhat, including their biology and transformation abilities, since they introduced Devastator and Alice, and Seekers, different transformers with rare abilities and techniques.
There could've been a thing where perhaps instead of the Great Machine that blows up suns, instead be a planet drain machine, like doing a galactus type of thing, that would make more sense than too add solar system and universal consequences(I guess solar), instead of having the matrix by the key to the machine, it could still be connect to the Allspark like in the original idea for the film, where the remaining shards could be use to reactivate since the matrix was destroyed.
All of this or half of it in my opinion could've worked into a better sequel, that and hiring a better direction, I also think Bay should've just waited for the writers strike to end.

7:46 always bothered me how they got the little details wrong with Lennox and his team in the first three movies. The first movie refers to Lennox’s team as a special ops team and they all wear the patch of Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT), but during the Hoover Dam scene we see that their beret colors are black with the DOD blue flash and a US Army Special Operations Command insignia. That is wrong, the beret color would signify his team being armored or infantry, while the wikipedia states they are Rangers (not all of them are Ranger qualified and if that was the case their beret color would be tan). Special ops soldiers could still work with black beret if their Armor/Infantry but they should have the red and black beret flash to signify USASOC. None of them wear any airborne wings, and a couple only have Ranger tabs which it is possible for non-airborne qualified soldiers. But the No jump wings, mismatched beret and flash, no qualification tabs. The last knight screws this up even worse, during the negation scene Lennox is back with the Green Beret and the corresponding Special Forces Tab plus the proper beret flash of USASOC. This would be fine except his left shoulder has the Shoulder Sleeve Insignia is of the 1st Special Forces Command, which has a different colored flash than the red/black USASOC flash. He’s also wearing no Combat Infantryman Badge, he’s seen combat in every movie he was in 😂 and there’s still no jump wings. No way you’re going through Ranger and Special Forces qualification while not being airborne qualified, no way. This was definitely an oversight as Robert Epps’ uniform isn’t as inaccurate, he’s a combat controller with the scarlet beret, he has the jump and combat dive badges which Lennox should also have, and in the first film during the Hoover Dam scene he’s with the Air Force’s M81 uniforms and he had the right AFSOC and Air Force squadron patches.
In regards to Prime leaving Megatron alive at the end, I'm like 99.999% sure he thought that killed him. 😂😂😂
Yeah I'm happy I'm not alone in thinking that this film isn't as bad as people say it is.
Don't get me wrong, I think it's really flawed and the writer's strike's impact cannot be ignored here.
But in my personal opinion, we were given the shell of what could have been peak fiction.
Luckily, that shell was surprisingly not bad thanks to Michael Bay's direction, Steve Jablonsky's score, the great VFX work and how good the actors are.
FINALLY MY VIEWS OF THIS FILM ARE VALIDATED!!! Rotf is a absolutely fun movie and I’m tired of pretending it’s not, lowkey little me thought this and the rest of the trilogy were PEAK cinema. Still hold to that somewhat, great work in these vids tho it’s nice to see a more positive light on these films
I enjoyed watching this video. You've made many points, and I can say that now I don't hate it as I used to. Though, this isn't by any means some hidden gem; there are still many criticisms about it. While I can understand that some circumstances led to the movie falling behind, I didnt like many things about it(some of which you pointed out yourself)

I agree with your perspective. Personally, I acknowledge all of the flaws in this movie, but I still think there were a lot of good qualities to it.
I gotta say the cemetery scene that was like the uncle Ben and Peter Parker scene. A father figure and some what if a son who become distant and argue but Sam atleast apologized before he f died and revived.
I appreciate this video. Being honest about what you like. I loved these movies as a kid but as i got older and got more exposure to the wider internet opinions I think i became more insecure about the things i like outside of the moment. Either because its big and dumb or "for kids" transformers, godzilla, some superheroes, powerpuff girls, ect. There are so many movies i haven't seen in a long time and even more that I havent seen yet but want to. I chocked this up to losing attention span from playing videogames as my main entertainment. However now i believe its insecurity about just owning what i like, like my opinion just doesn't matter. That or somehow being afraid of discovering new things i like outside of my current bubble of childhood favorites.
Keep being honest i admire that. It's nice to see someone be unapologetic about the things they love and just own it.
I loved the original Bay trilogy, and I genuinely think they are actually good films. I might make a video on it tbh

I love the Constructicons and Devastator’s design in this film. The entire combine scene still holds up spectacularly to this day, beats out just about anything today CGI wise. Only imagine if it came out nowadays.

always loved the bayverse tranformers as i grew up with them 1-3 still watched the later ones but like them less so glad someone did a lenghty review and anxiously awaiting for the dark of the moon as its my favorite got my subscribe and like,one thing that always got me is the size diffrence between the fallen first arival scene and later on during the fight but oh well and the fight against the fallen and prime like you said but one of my favorite parts is the tranformation of devastator
I really liked this film but they missed an opportunity to have mudflap and skids combine into a rail gun to bring down devastator in the 3rd act. It would have at least justified them being there and followed the combiner theme of the film with the twins already established, with the contructicons, and with optimus and jetfire. Forest battle is goated though and the action is overall great in this film and an overall step up from the first action wise from the transformers I would argue. Also, I still really enjoyed the final fight. We should have seen more of the fallens strength against optimus, but it was satisfying to see his finish and crippling megatron.
I'm not a fan of how they wasted the arcee sisters.
*Or Jazz, sideswipe.. but they never fail to shove that twinkle on wheels in our face*
And thank you for addressing the "Transformers Heaven" scene. I always understood it as The Matrix wasn't destroyed....it only "transformed" into ashes...cause you can't FIND the matrix of leadership...you have to earn it....
Out of all the films, I still think ROTF has the best hand to hand fight scenes out of all the movies. No shaky cam, no random people with guns shooting, just pure on robot on roboy carnage.

the 2007 and ROTF was for me peak cinema back then cause i was little kid and i didn't pay much attetion to the story so i saw ROTF as the better one there are many scenes that are amazingly done and then there is the story which is mess and doesn't make much sense but as child i just saw bum, blast and sometimes between some plot thing happing but now i know this isn't enough to make good movie but there is one thing that always save for me this movie and that was the characters still all of the main characters are still there and i care for them even the human characters Sam and Mikaela have so well made relationship and there was arc for them to push them to say they love each other and this always work here and i think here their relationship work best and even to this day i like this and is my favorite aspect not only about this movie but even on the first one. yes is kinda funny i care about this thing in movie that is about big gigant robots that transforming into a cars but if is something is well made it deserve praise and this ROTF and 2007 did the best

. A pacifist who’d rather abandon the autobots to live a life of peace while daydreaming all day and studying life on earth but he still aids in the fight out of a sense of responsibility
. A racing addict
. A generic decepticon
. A super learner who can learn and master new skills really really fast
There have also been multiple characters named mudflap over the years
. A fighting champion with anger issues. After feeling under appreciated by the bots he joins the cons. After a long while the decepticons (surprise surprise) prove untrustworthy he realizes the full implications of his actions and is unable to cope with everything he’s done. To his everlasting shock and confusion the autobots invite him back.
. A decepticon who wants to switch sides but doesn’t because he fears his reputation will precede him
. A criminal using the alias sawtooth for some reason
. A mercenary

I already loved it for the spectacle it is, but some of the themes you mentioned are really solid and so many things are set up and paid off.
To me its the second best movie of the trilogy, dotm is the worst because the style was lost.

11:07 I always hated how they did Sideways dirty because he's a much bigger deal in his original appearance. He was essentially the Silver Surfer to Unicron's Galactus. I wish they would have just named him something else in RotF, but them's the breaks.
Personally, I get Skids & Mudflap are annoying, but I do not really agree on them being racist. Since I believe when they landed on Earth or before on Cybertron, they were learning the human language & felt really bonded with The Gansta rap music genre & took that as their personality.
Although at the same time, I won't shame anyone who thinks they're racist, I just wanted to try & explain why their voice is so... Stereotypical?
I'm so happy and suprised that this movie is more darker and deep than just being a movie about giant robots beating each other. You gave alot of good points for this movie than any other film critics gave nothing bad points after bad points. That is not fair. There are things to like about this movie.

Did I forget to mention Wheelie is really funny and yes I know, he has an ugly design but I love his facial expression when he is happy, sad, and angry. Also they had the professional voice actor, Tom Kenny, the voice for Spongebob Squarepants makes it more funny. I never thought I heard the day Spongebob or Spongebob voice actor actually can said some curse words when he is voicing Wheelie for this movie.
It’s a great movie. I mean what else did they expect from film about Alien Robots fighting on Earth? They are all ridiculous but that’s the appeal. Great video!

We come from a time where people can be ok with most of the animated Transformers stories but when it comes to live action, people have no forgivness. Cartoons and even the movie messed up alot, but are forgiven. The Bayverse does make sense and even the new movie ROTB can be looked as a prequel. I know there's alot of negativity toward the bayverse. I do theories that explain it and wow I have received some hate just for that.

My problem with Alice is that if they can make transformers that can turn into humans, why don't they use that more? Why can't the Decepticons just have one of them transform into President Obama and just be running the entire United States immediately. Seems pretty simple to me.
Because it was a bad idea, that give younger viewers nightmares. Bay took this from the Pretender toy line back in the late 80s. Alice wasn’t that bad, just interesting.

The Blue Arcee is Chromia. She was seen in G1 with Elita-1 & other female Autobots. She is basically a female version of Ironhide. The Twins, around that time, I prefer the Constructicons from Animated, than those 2 rip offs of Timon & Pumba. Also, the video game adaptation of the movie is better than the movie itself. The Final Battle between Optimus & The Fallen is better & longer.
am i the only one that loved the 07 movie and rotf from the beginning? first when i saw them in theaters back in 2007 and 2009 with the toys and the final battles. I just love them.

As you know, the writing trio wrote a 15-page outline before the strike began, that Michael Bay then expanded into a 60-page scriptment during pre-production as the strike was ongoing. You left out that when the strike ended, the writers spent four months finishing the screenplay while locked in hotel rooms by Michael Bay. It absolutely was a mad dash to the beginning of shooting. The script definitely had issues like the ones you've described due to the time constraints the writers dealt with, but it's not like the story was being written as they were filming it. Of course, changes were made during filming and post-production like with any other movie of this scale, which is why both the novelization and comic book adaptation have notable differences to the finished film.
As much as people like to shit on this movie and the others, I still found them to be generally entertaining to watch. Even this movie, I had a blast watching it in theatres. Sure there were moments that I cringed at or could have been cut or tones down. But in all honesty, I still enjoy this movie
These reviews have been super great to watch. Since I did too grow up with Bayformers and gotten my fair share of hate and criticism for liking them.
Revenge of the Fallen came out when I was at my height of Bayformers popularity from the video game, toys a backpack, and saw it day one. I never hated this movie. I found it quite fun.
Seeing it in 2024, there are definitely outdated aspects, but it's still solid. Fantastic review doing this movie justice.

As much as I do really enjoy this movie (for what it is, flaws and all) the thing that’s always annoyed me about it since I was a kid is that the Fallen always insists “only a Prime can kill me.” That to me is just insanity. You’re telling me that if Bumblebee, Ironhide, hell even the twins point a canon point blank at the Fallen’s face and pull the trigger, that the Fallen is just gonna shrug it off cause none of em have the title of Prime? I dunno about that.
I loved the parents too. they were great. shia for all the hate he gets is great in these.

I couldn’t tell you the exact amount because I don’t know. But for my ROTF and DOTM videos I had just over 2 hours of footage, and somewhere between 2-3 dozen clips from the movie to go cut into one video. That’s the main reason I needed a month for each. I needed time in between to rest, then several hours to film (between prep and actual recording) and the rest just for editing and uploading
I have litterally never seen anyone complain about sams parents. Even cinemasins had to adress that theire relationship is portrayed pretty realistic
Why not explore what could’ve been changed about AOE and TLK to make them better rather than explain why they suck. You could probably fit both movies into a single 10-20 minute video because I think the concepts of these movies were great but their execution was terrible…

@@darrenccwong Yeah Optimus is great, despite what the haters will say. Definitely the best action, the forest battle is hard to top! Overall the first one probably is the best but I feel like DOTM could be argued to be the best as well.
