We'll also share some tips and tricks for getting the most out of your radio, so you can stay connected and communicate effectively in the field. So grab your KT-WP12 and let's get started!
For adjusting quickly le volume level : press the ON/OFF button, this action will switch the TX to monitor mode. Then you can use the keys up and down to adjust the volume level. After this, press again the ON/OFF button to activate again the squelch.
There is no need to go inside the menu.
Hi, found some useful bits of info in your video. Just on the volume concern, it is actually very easy to adjust. Simply use the up and down arrows from the Home Screen
Been waiting for a vid like this. I just bought one of these, delivered today but started a stretch of nights so haven't opened it yet...i think it'll be a fun radio for the truk
Cheers
Thx for the content
The programming cable is becoming a problem. The one I purchased doesn't work although it works with my other HTs contacted the manufacture and they told me to order direct from them :/ so waiting for a payment link from them .... Great :/
There are actually 3 ways to adjust the volume, one way is the way you have shown, 2nd hold the yellow button down and it will open the squash then use the UP and Down buttons to adjust, and 3rd, press menu and the number 6 button, also labeled VOL then press the UP and Down buttons.
Great tips.
👍
At 17:00 just use long press volume button 6
Sorry i have not uploaded anything for a while with Job Changes , Child, School and other life things i just have not had the time.
I see there was a comment that CHIRP now supports this Radio , i will TRY to do a vid on that , but life is life and will see. I hope you are all doing well :)
Volume can be changed by long pressing orange button then using up/down to adjust.
You mean short press :) to put it into Monitor mode, long will turn it off :)
I second that. Short press to switch if the squelch and place it in monitor then up/down keys, short press of orange button to exit. Simples 😁
The mic is covered by the rubber keypad
Menu + 6 key is quick access to volume. Now if only I could figure out how to easily change the channels once there are programmed from my computer.
Decent length video showing the menus and how it sounds - cheers!
The branded Anysecu WP-9900 is the same radio.
It looks and looks like it behaves like all of the tiny QYT radios and the QYT walkies. Same menu system, same screens etc.
If you search on here for that model number, one of the vids mentions programming the top keys for volume I think. I wonder if the programming software allows for that.
I'd say using it with an aux cable through the car's hifi would be a good workaround.
What was the easier way you found - top left button> monitor> up/down key?
I've had one of the tiny QYT radios once before - the 7900D. It was a PITA to use if I'm honest.. too many bugs/quirks but it always seemed near enough ok using just the mic to operate it as you have shown.
You can press and hold rather than multi-clicking too by the way.
How does the body feel at 5w?
Cheers 👍
Yeah use the monitor button then up and down
Any idea how much current it draws while listening? How about transmit? Wouldn't it make a great radio for a tiny radio-box type setup? I'm thinking off-grid base camp or hunting lease type thing.
can you unlock more frequencies as in a open tx mod?
new replacement radio seems to be working even was able to place 146.760 into a channel which the other one would not do. note even in the cigarette lighter plug ti still has some noise from my 2005 rav 4 but not enough to disrupt using
Nice to know the replacement is working :)
I just purchased and installed a radio set like this in my Pajero, but I have a problem as I can receive and hear messages but cannot seem to send . What could be the problem?
On 4:11 sec that was Macomb repiter 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🙋♂️👍
its repeater VE7RPT on Mount Seymore in North Vancouver :)
finally got the anysecu vip software loaded but found 146.676 only would go in channel 0 and they say dont use that slot. also to change volume press the orange button to open squelch then adjst vol with up down keys. for power use the # key to select h m l leve

They have also a Handheld model that can do 10 Meter! The Qyt Cb-58
That's a CB radio isn't it , 27mhz
@@ham-fam YES! Great radio can do AM and FM on CB and the upper channels
Hi,
I have one of these and I notice at 3:56 yours, like mine, shows an "M" on the screen when in low power mode and not an "L".
When the rig is in low power mode I get 22w on VHF and UHF which is pretty far from low power.
How about you?
Ah, I don't have my RF meter yet. Will test when it gets here.
Here is a better solution to manage the volume adjustment procedure without going into the menu : Just hit the orange or red button on top of the mike real short. You will here the typical noise without squelch ( open squelch ) - now you can adjust the volume for your needs - hit the orange or red button again and you are done ! It´s that simple - Have fun !
Now that's a great tip! Thanks!

quick shortcut to the volume might be: menu-6-menu then up or down. 73!
There is a quicker way. I discovered it last night :) will be in next vid :)
@@ham-fam Great!! looking forward to it :)
Does this transmit/receive out of frequency?
What frequency are you wanting ? It's designed to transmit in the range it's designed for.
The latest KT-9900 will not save the repeater offset information in the memory channel, at least when programming from the handset. Very annoying having to reset the offset freq when you've selected a memory channel. In VFO mode it works fine.
Does this post have frequencies from 446.00625 to 44619375??? Thank you for your answers (14UVR010 in France)
Is it superheterodyne or RDA?
I believe it's RDA but not 100% sure
would you recommend this radio compared with anytone at778uv ? thanks
Sorry for the delay, ive been offline for a while- Hmm i would not be able to comment fairly as i do not have and Anytone at778uv - if i decide to get one ill certainly make a comparison
I have no problem with the three different ways to set the volume.

Hello, on my TX the 1750 Hz tone does not work. Could someone help me to fond a trick ? I might have miss something...
Read the manual and find there are a much easier way to do the volume. Use the top on/off button to put it in monitor mode and use the up/down buttons to adjust the volume then hit the moni button again.
Yup, the video was made 2 and a half years ago when the device first came out with the usual poor documentation.
Does this have the ability to display the channel name like the UV5R? Or you stuck with just the Feq?
It can show freq, chan number or channel name
I purchased one today. I'm having a problem using DTMF. The * and # do not emit a tone when I push PTT and * or #. I can not control my Allstar node without these tones. Does anyone know how to get these tones to work?
Ill have a play around with my KT-WP12 when i get a moment and see
@@ham-fam Thank you for the reply. Please check out the QYT WP KT12 version of this radio, if you can. I returned and purchased another WP-9900 version and the new radio does the same thing, no DTMF for * and #. It must be a flaw in the firmware of the radio and I can not find an update on the website. This radio works great and is exactly what I need, except I need those DTMF tones for Allstar commands. Thanks again, 73!
@@larval1766 Did you find a solution to the DTMF
I downloaded the software at their link and it wont open says missing files thats after bitdefender blocked it as malware how did you get the software to load ?i just got this for christmas
I always right click on the setup files I download then goto properties then tick the box labeled "Unblock" if it's there. Then try again
DMR version would be awesome
Yeah it would , not sure how they would fit it all on the tiny screen though :)
What's the antenna connector?
SO239 on the radio
@@ham-fam ordered two. VE7ESE
finally l odaed software but it says open comm port error ?? Is this due to the radio not being connected to the laptop >
so you run the software after installing and it immediately pops up with the error ? or is it when you try to read or write from/to the radio ?
@@ham-fam I got past that issue but now when i program my freqs in they either do not work or they txrx but no tx audio or it wont hit the repeaters even though my ft60 sitting right here does
Send me your config file and I'll try on mine
Someone found out that tapping the orange button than up and down changes volume - it also opens the squelch. Another brand but probably the same radio.

No reason to going each time to Menu 46 for volume setting! There is quick access to Vol setting of course… just open SQL (press top orange button) and set Vol using UP/DWN buttons as you want. Then squelch RX back with top orange button. Cheers.
Or simply press Menu > 6 to access Vol setting.

Orderes one on a whim usually hate repeaters mostly listen...
Let me know how you get on :)
After following the tips you recommended in your programming video I was finally able to get the radio programmed. I installed it in my car and used it for about ten days and then the radio just died. I tried the usual diagnostics; fuses, etc. and nothing has worked. I now have a compact brick. Very disappointed!
Oh no sorry to here that Ted :(
well it asted 3 weeks then stopped tx so have to return
Oh no :( mine still going strong
@@ham-fam display says it is tx but wont open repeaters suddenly i reloaded the freqs and tones still wont but it rx just fine very odd
Does simplex work ? Or just not txing in general ?
@@ham-fam shows tx on display but nothing on repeaters or simplex

Oh yes there is a way to change volume several as a matter of fact.
There are two that I'm aware of. In the settings and when you turn on the monitoring, do you know of more? Please share :)
Whether the radio can still transmit in the frequency range 136 Mhz - 144 Mhz ? First I Thanking You for Your Attention Sir,..🙏 Warm Regards from Indonesia,..👋🙏
You can program it to 136 if you want , via the software or the keypad
@@ham-fam Thanking You for Your Kind Information Sir,..👍🙏😊
I waited 18 minutes to see the memory channel actually programmed in...... I was ultimately disappointed.
Disappointed that the menu system is not good or my contribution being disappointing? Either way :)
@@ham-fam It was actually a well organized video presentation.
Programming cable is useless because Chirp doesnt support it yet and factory software is shit.
Yup the software is horrid. I hope chirp support it soon
RTSystems supports this radio $25 for the software if you have a cable it will work.
what is the type of the antenna connector?
The antenna connection on the radio is an SO-239
