I think my teenager is a "kid". In my mind, they are kids until they are 18. You seem to be classifying a kid as being younger than a teenager when challenging Troomi's opinion that kids need cell phones. I am buying it for my teenager, who is still a kid.

There aren’t landlines anymore so it’s a good option for kids that stay home or with divorced parents so they can always contact a parent. My nine year old has one because he can stay home for an hour or two and he can get a hold of me and visa versa. I will be honest. It sucks not having landlines anymore.
