This is the tune Rudy Zarzo auditioned with Q.R. He learned the song in E although the song was in F. Randy Rhoads told Sarzo about him playing in the wrong key this, “Yeah, don’t worry about the mistake. I know that it sounds like a typical E riff but it’s actually in F,” Randy explained with his typical unassuming music-teacher demeanor. “We like to do things a bit different in this band.” From “Off the Rails” by Rudy Sarzo
Just found out Randy recorded the solo on this song using the Frankenstrat (The brown Fender Strat he has been pictured with- google it). Crazy ass guitar.
If my friends and I had ever heard this era of the band on the radio we would have been in the record store the next day! Somebody screwed up on getting this out.
Anyone remember the old METALSHOP radio show with Charlie Kendall? That's where I first heard this song 30 years ago or so. He was doing a Randy Rhoads tribute show. Damn! Those were great times! I looked forward to that show all week. I even sent away for the t-shirt with the METALSHOP logo in the middle of a circular saw blade with the moto "The only show with teeth" at the bottom. I still have that shirt. Of course, it looks like a dish towel when I hold it up to me now (lol!). I keep it in a frame on the wall of my cave/bar/the place in my house that smells like beer.
I as well!! Yep Metal Shop, episode where they did a Randy tribute. But it was a more refined version of KG's...hmm. I heard it in 1984. Wow...QR wasn't great in the 70s...even with Randy. HE was the only bright spot...
love this stuff. i remember my neighbor finding this album during jake's stint with Ozzy. We were at UC Santa Barbara and took a drive to LA in search of Randy's grave, but we ended up at the wrong cemetery, near some F104 fighter plane stuck in the air via a tremendous pole up its back end. From then on, the "F104 ream" was code for being vexed in a crucial endeavor. Chris Bonachea was my buddies name. He died just a few years later of a congenital heart problem. He was a shred. Came from Sacto and at one time was invited to play with City Kid. thanks for sharing, KD! Great memories.
I remember recording this and Slick Black Cadillac (Randy Rhoads version) from a documentary on Randy that aired on a local radio station in the early 80's. This was before Quiet Riot reformed. I remember loving this song and wishing I could get the whole album, which was impossible at that time.
Don't mind me, just leaving my love for Randy. I recently saw an interview with Rudy about him and now I have to listen to all his music. Yes, I mean music. THIS is music, not all that current year shit.
You have to wonder what would have happened to QR if they found success before 1983. Would Randy Rhodes remain in the band? Will he still be alive today? The first two QR records only got released in Japan, don't know what the record company was thinking then. Now don't get me wrong, Randy was great in both QR and Blizzard of Ozz (this was what Ozzy Osbourne originally named his post Black Sabbath band). Its just fun to speculate about what could have been.

Great Book!
It's amazing the Randy became a legend when leaving QR, and QR became an early 80's metal icon band.
gave dubrow a boost.
Released in 1978 ITS 70s
beautiful song
such a great band for the time

There's a video where his tech showcases it with an awesome guitarist Tracii Guns.

+James K. Same here! It was where I first heard this jam. It was after-the-fact on a cassette my cousin taped.

Dennis Edwards you rock, sir! Love that name,I'm afraid I've got the same look going on! Rocking the long hair since 84!
'Actually sounds like textbook Randy during the solo. it features many of his licks and techniques, and even in progression, to an extent.
Gran tema y recuerdo... saludos desde Chile al mundo del rock

WOW! This is my favorite QR song! The best there is.
FUCKING FANTASTIC
Bought this on Tape in 1993
didnt see an ad just saw it in the store.
I knew Randy was in QR but know they recorded songs, its a Great CD collection
That Fender Strat from the tech on the solo was that brown one that had phase switches installed. I think it had a jazzmaster neck on it.
LOVE IT!
Great song!!!

This is real Quiet Riot. I love Carlos Comazo, but Randy Rhodes had heavy chords.
That you could cry to
RHOADS!
Randy was better than the rest of the band by far.
so awsome
Anyone else think of the Small Faces when you hear this?
🤘🤘
yeeeaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!
Is it just me or does the intro riff sound like Looks that Kill?
Yeah hahaha😂but I think this song is way better😂
It doesn't can't believe i never noticed 😅
I have since the early, early 1980s.
Why not 1978 Thats when this song came out lol
So was Ozzy... Then again any band would be better with Randy...
I like this recording better
Wow Motley Crue stole this for “Wildside”…
I hate these re-recorded vocal/remixed versions!
*No more juice!*
