I had the same issue with the wing nut coming loose as I was spoiling my reel. I took some painters tape and wrapped it behind the wing nut. This kept it in place. Thanks for making the video.

Great DIY. I had my line come off and bird nested on me. Do I need to spool new line or can I use the same one?

This is just perfect for what I was thinking of doing. Plus I have scrap wood and hardware in the garage. Thanks Brother 👍🏻

I made this, thanks for the video. It should be mentioned that in addition to spooling toward you, if that means it's turning in the same direction that would tighten the wing nut, flip it around. Mine got tighter and tighter, until I realized it was tightening. I ended up butting 2 nuts, absolutely no play at that point. Worked really well!

Make yourself an arm with an eye (hole in top of wood, metal rod in that, bent over, & shaped into an eye for the line) to keep the line roughly centered over the spool so it won't roll off either side to get tangled and you'd have just about the perfect line spooler.

Isn't the line supposed to come off anti clockwise? What direction does the reel on the fishing rod go?

I built my spooler for less than $1. One pencil and my son to hold the pencil.

The son you built cost much more than this guy’s contraption lol
