For the obliques for easier workout you can just do russian twist with weight
You don’t really contract the muscle with twists. It’s more a stabilisation. Cable twists are far better

You’re the first person I’ve seen mention obliques in building abs👏🏼 I’ve been looking for this, as a skill player in football I always had abs and the exercises were easy. Now not so much and Ive been looking for someone who actually has full core training without the nonsense. I’m still in good shape and workout but never train core so just looking to get it back
Abs is a singular muscle, no idea where the lower upper abs thing came from. But aren't abs one muscle that contracts at a same time?

A lot of exercises, like leg raises for example, cause a clicking in my lower back(I'm 28m), which drives me NUTS, causing me to not do them. It doesn't hurt its just super annoying. If anyone has tips, I'm open to suggestions.

Those are decline sit-ups you are showing; not decline crunches! They will work your hip flexors and lower back hard.

Thats the problem wit people when it comes to abs, they treat it like its not a muscle that needs progressive overload to grow. U wouldn’t just do push ups if u we’re trying to grow ur chest would u?
u are right brother but he didn't mentioned that you need to be lower than a certain body percentage and the exercise he just told not everyone can do them that's why i told easier exercise that everyone can do.

I like those silly ab rollers and swimming. I swear I get more of a longer stretch from those two things. Pilates is also great if you can find a machine. Im always pushing more for like swimmers abs or like Brad Pitt in Fight Club abs. I think body builder abs are kind of ugly.

Less about seeing abs visually and more about getting a stronger core. At least for me.
How many times a day should I do it
It's recommended to do 3 sets of up to e different exercises until failure for each muscle group (your abs are all together one muscle group).
Keep in mind your sets should be between 10-15 reps till you reach failure. Get this right by adding more and more weight.
You'll be fine doing 3 exercises a day until failure. Please note that your muscles also need around 48 hours to fully recover. So have a rest day.

You're better off just doing crunches honestly.
If you're just starting at the gym, I highly recommend you get a trainer to build yourself a training plan and explain the machines so you don't hurt yourself.

Don’t listen to sludgy, unless you can only do 3 x 15 crunches. Abs are like any other muscle and should be trained for hypertrophy. Look up some “hypertrophy ab exercises” like grabbing a rope and crunching it to the ground on a cable machine. You must either go up in reps or weight week to week.
