Thanks, William. Wish UE documentation kept up with their releases, especially on new features like this. It would be great if there was a way to make real hard cumulus clouds for more dramatic backgrounds and adjustments to make darker storm clouds.
Haha I think Epic releases so many new things that it's hard for they themselves to keep up! You absolutely can makr a hard cumulus cloud, just need to be familiar enough with a clever material setup. It's far from easy/idiot proof though!
@@WilliamFaucher I suspect UE5 effort is absorbing a lot of document people at Epic. So many interesting experimental or beta plugins with so little documentation. Volumetric clouds are one of those areas that would be nice to have a few presets or at least starting point settings, Anything to minimize a lot of wasted hours by thousands of developers fiddling with 100 parameters. In this case, it can be faster/easier to grab an HDR to get some dramatic clouds.
@@ScottSquires Yeah I think the actual release of the Volumetric Clouds just lacked some finishing touches really, imho. The classic is the bug in the default cloud material that displays the hard edge and right-angled cloud shape.
This occurs because the texture maps doesn't tile and I saw many people getting stuck on this. Hence why I did my first video - ruclips.net/video/M2rOitk_I9g/видео.html
you `re incredible! Thank you so much!
Thanks William, Awesome, you are putting us all on cloud 9 with all this content.
Hey, really cool video! Thank you so much! Just another question, do you know a way to animate the clouds, kind of like they are moving in the wind?
You'll just have to add a panner to the material in question. The default volumetric cloud materials have the correct node setup, just need to copy them into the cloud material of your choice.
