Creatine definitely causes hair loss in those who are prone to hair loss. DHT is known to be the single biggest factor in genetic hair loss and creatine raises DHT, voila. Not that difficult to understand
Sounds like you didn't understand what he was saying. ONE study found an increase in DHT, but no other study replicated that finding. And in that one singular study, they didn't explain how creatine could raise DHT. It doesn't raise testosterone, which converts to DHT. And they didn't find more of what DHT breaks down into. So if you don't increase the precursor to DHT, and you don't increase the successor to DHT, and creatine doesn't contain DHT itself, it doesn't make any sense to think creatine increases DHT. Not that hard to understand.
@@aaronlawrence6350 Oh I do understand, I have spent countless time researching this topic as I really want to take creatine but can’t due to genetic hair loss. It is commonly thought that the testosterone-to-dht pipeline is the only way for DHT to be synthesized but this is actually not true. There is another way which is called The Backdoor Pathway in which DHT is formed from 21-carbon steroids using progesterone or hydroxyprogesterone to form DHT, thus bypassing the need to make testosterone. More Plates More Dates has done a video about this which anyone can watch. Furthermore, the other studies that you mentioned never looked into DHT as that was not the purpose of those studies, they only looked at testosterone. This means that the backdoor pathway is certainly as possibility here. Couple this with countless anecdotes (broscience I know) where there are sooooo many people who lose hair on creatine.
Creatine increases DHT in the body but not to supraphysiological levels. Basically stimulates DHT production to the maximum level your body is capable of producing on it's own, which is the argument for why creatine isn't doing anything diabolical. However there are thousands of anecdotes of hair loss caused by creatine in those prone to hair loss. It's real and there needs to be many more studies done on hair loss because I love what creatine does for my musculature but I need to keep all the hair I can. Say what you want but I've personally experienced this on a few occasions.
Caffeine at 600mg has been shown to be slightly anabolic in studies. However, it needs to be taken earleir in the day, because we are most anabolic during sleep and if you ruin your sleep you are not achieving anything. As for meth, its so much stronger that its not even comparable. I tried 600mg caffeine and I tried 100 mg meth. The meth gives you energy and euphoria for 6 hours even at 100mg, also tommorow you will be very tired so its not worth it.
800mg...he said 600mg before meet and then another 200mg shot. Sheesh...that sounds like something bad waiting to happen. I take like 100-150mg before my 8AM morning workout and maybe another 100 for the midday work slump (2:30-3PM), but that's it.
I would say #1 A solid multivitamin to cover whatever your already solid nutrition plan might miss. #2 Vitamin D (most people are deficient.) #3 fish oil for omega 3 #4 extra virgin olive oil #5 Fiber (offers best gut health results)
Keep it simple. Just don't pull a Joe Rogan and max out everything that you've heard before about supplements. Anything can become toxic if you get too much.
Not everyone needs those. Those are more dependent on deficiencies if present. There are cases of people who had normal magnesium levels and upon taking it in a supplement form experience symptoms like depression, fatigue, and digestive issues. Also people who get plenty of sunlight can have normal vitamin D levels. Layne’s list was to address supplements everyone can take, not to address deficiencies present in only specific populations.

But I do eat like a carnivore diet with little carbs and for supplements I just do 1000mg of Ashwagandha every morning and melatonin gummies before sleep. Thing is cant really afford anything other than that, A normal day costs me about 6 bucks for meals
Gummies are garbage! Do a bit of research. But, carnivore is great!
No vitamin D, magnesium, and Omega 3 (fish oil) on this list is crazy.
Rhodiola made me feel like I was back on SSRIs. Didn’t like it
I use Creatine, Citrulline, Multivitamin, Protein and on occasion Caffeine.
Arshwanganda for stress and Melatonin for sleep.
Wow - these “TOP” supplements are not health-focused -
Health first and then performance would the most mature/ practically functional paradigm for top down supplement choices -
Just saying.
My top 6
D3 + K2
Magnesium Glycinate
Vitamin C + Garlic + Pine Bark (Blood Flow/Immunity)
Zinc + Copper
Whey Protein Isolate
B Vitamin Complex + Choline
Magtein is better magnesium. Try it, it's incredible.
Any colostrum or bovine liver fans in the comments??
Omega 3
Vitamin d
Magnesium
Gotta be up there
I was totally expecting those 3. It surprised me to see they weren't mentioned at all when they are a HUGE deal.

Same
100% true
Layne spoke so fast, had to play twice to get his Creatine Monohydrate. It's likely way too much caffine.
Myodren from nutrishop...
I cannot trust a guy that promotes seed oils & Vegetable oils.
600mg of caffeine….?!? Da fk lol
Maybe try meth or coke.
@@nocapproductions5471 😂 thanks for the insight
@@nocapproductions5471 caffeine is an MTOR blocker, in which universe is it anabolic?
I'd be a shaking wreck if I had caffeine seriously not good in large amounts,
800mg...he said 600mg before meet and then another 200mg shot.
If you are on psychiatric medication, I'd definately stay away from ashwaganda
Someone's gonna die following that caffeine recommendation!
velvet bean extract, D.H.E.A. G.A.B.A.
Then stop harping on the hairloss issue. 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Bit disappointed that eagle eggs didnt find their way into the list
Keep it simple. Just don't pull a Joe Rogan and max out everything that you've heard before about supplements. Anything can become toxic if you get too much.
And omega 3? They give free Phd lately.
Do you know that your muscles are 70% water?
I met Layne at an Olympia expo. 😒
How this guy puts caffeine and whey protein on the “Mount Rushmore” but misses out D3 and Magnesium is pretty scary
Was he aiming at supplements for general health or for weight lifting? Caffeine not needed for general health.
vitamin D too
500 mg. How…? I’d have a stroke
Commentary on the subject of caffeine is way off . Take some of this “with a grain of salt.”
My top 5:
Caffeine
Cigarettes
Beer
Cocaine
AG1
I'll add weed to that protocol and we're good to go.
You give more value to AG1 than others.
