  • 🧐 Create A Latest Day Slicer in Power BI
In this tutorial, I'll show you how to create a default slicer selection for the latest day in Power BI using Field Parameters. This is perfect for daily invoicing summaries or reports on job statuses.
If you're tired of manually updating slicers or filters every time new data comes in, this video is for you! We'll explore a solution that keeps everything within Power BI Desktop, no need for Power BI Report Builder or complex DAX.
I'll guide you through the steps to automate the process of selecting the last day. We’ll create a Field Parameter that references a measure, ensuring your slicer always shows the latest date. This method is beginner-friendly and avoids the hassle of manual updates.
We’ll also cover some small limitations and alternative solutions. By the end, you'll have a dynamic, up-to-date report without needing advanced tricks.
Stay tuned for a neat Tabular Editor tip from Owen Auger to refine your slicer. And if you want more advanced time filters like last week or year-to-date, check the links in the description for additional tutorials.
