My father served in the Welsh Guards from '31 to '35 and he was "invited" to go back and help out again from '38 to '46. I suppose whatever it was in his nature that attracted him to this sort of life has been passed on, in part, to me. I get a deep thrill of pride in seeing this.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
Thank you, you’re very welcome! 👍
In olden days, it was to present the arms to the capt, and to hand over the palace keys, from old to new, now it’s, changing of the guard, from old to new, that’s the way the arms are, and what it means,
I'm watching this from California. I wish I were in London.

And Wellington barracks is so very close to BP, if anything , I mean huge, like war, chemical attacks, anything that will threaten the crown, kings guards are very close for all emergencies, so they can get there pretty darn quick
I'm watching from north west london I love watching the guard videos and I watch the videos at horse guards and seeing the Lovely horses
Sie sind die perfektion!!😊
It's called "presenting arms" it is the formal salute of the colours

Would love to see this when I come to the UK in June 💜
The King’s Guard will be wearing their famous summer scarlet uniforms then! 👍
Watching from Hampshire in southern England
The soldier at 10:05 is an officer . Officers have much taller /higher bearskins- noticeably so.
Maybe those guards are coming into BP, to get ready for change at the entrance and private areas of kings residence, as guards are everywhere around the palace, not just the front,
BP? What that mean

question : does the soldier come from the Regiment He is assigned, In other words if he’s from Wales, he’s assigned to the welsh guards?
Not particularly but yes, kind of.
You basically get to shortlist 3, maybe 4 now, Regiments that you wish to join. So I could put "Welsh Guards, East Anglian Regiment, Gurkhas". You can put here pretty much any Regiment that exists.
However, the recruiting sergeant will then usually try and guide you to a more local Regiment (probably because they're a part of that Regiment, or have more of a stake in it). For example, if I put down to join the Welsh Guards in Scotland, the recruiter would probably try and convince me to join the Scots Guards instead. I don't *have* to accept that, but we all know that recruiters can be a bit.. pressuring and scary for an 18 year old, so you probably would accept that.
Then obviously you've got to pass examinations for that regiment. For example, if I wanted to join the Para Coy, I would need to do a 9.5 minute fitness test over the standard 11 minutes. If I fail, that option is now out the window, and I would instead have to pick one of the other two options.
The best bet for getting in to a specific regiment is to go to a recruiter who is a part of that regiment. So if I wanted to join the Welsh Guards the most, it'd be best for me to go to a Welsh Guards' recruiting office.
It's pretty similar to how the US Army works I think, just with some small differences here and there.
@@Perseus7567 so the Gurkhas have a regiment with the kings guard? They’re from India.
Do the military bands have performances other than street marching? Does your military have singing groups?
Don't be silly.
@@william6682 here in the US, each branch of the military has a marching band, one or more touring groups with singers and instruments, and a full orchestra/choir. Generally, the marching bands parade with armed service personnel, the tour groups are ambassadors representing their branch and the orchestra/choir performs for special occasions. I was just wondering if it’s the same for the British military.
Search youtube for the Bands of the Royal Marines, they're pretty darn good. Other regiments and arms of the UK forces do have bands and do play in public but I'm not sure if they have singers, apart from th Royal Marines. So try the Marines, you won't be disappointed.
@@william6682 thank you
My pleasure, hope you enjoy.
I'm looking for plumes, and this lot don't have any!

You put this video on 3x speed 😂😂😂
Really?
If you’re referring to the Colour being carried, their march is especially fast - no part of this video is sped up. All is filmed in real-time 👍
@@TheKingsGuardsChannel it was amazing Thank you for an excellent video.
@@TheKingsGuardsChannel it was a joke 🤣 the way the guards marched, 🤣
