After installing the belt, turn the ignition key just a little bit to turn the engine. This will make sure that the belt is aligned properly on the pulleys. Do not start the car. Check the belt again to make sure it looks good and then you're OK to start the car.
Thank you! This video gave me exactly what I needed, I was afraid to really crank on what I thought was the tensioner. Turns out I was on the right one, but I felt a lot better about it having seen your video. Also knowing which pulley to do last was super helpful.
Great video. I changed my alternator today, successfully, butI gave up at the very end trying to get the belt back over the edge of the alternator pully. Makes way more sense to use the other one like you did here, so I'll try that out tomorrow. The tensioner on this camry barely moves, it's very difficult to work with. Thanks for the video
Bought a brand new belt and I struggled getting it on the idler pulley. One tip that helped out tremendously is to remove the lower bolt on the alternator and loosen the top alternator bolt with a wrench. Helped me get just enough slack to get it seated on the idler pulley.
Such a great video. Hardest part was getting those retainer wires off the bulb. Found turning that cover off to be easier when I used the connector as part of the place for my thumb to grab for leverage. I only had to do the passenger bulb. Sounds like the driver side is more difficult. Thanks again.
Thank you. I appreciated the bungee cord at the start; that really saved me some frustration. And of course you were right about the smooth side pulley being the easier way to install the belt under tension- that worked great for me. Thanks!
As an owner of an 04’ Camry 2.4 from personal experience when levering the tension pulley go easy and smooth, don’t use too much force too quickly. That bolt head is cast aluminum and can snap off… Trust me.
yes I did, you dont have to but it is much easier especially with these tensioners that hardly can move, n it takes about 3 minutes to remove the engine mount, hope this helps, thanks for watching this video.
Any suggestions on how to do it without that 19mm bolt? I bought my toyota a few years ago and i was trying to change the alternator. But i noticed the bolt was broken to loosen the tension
I do not like front wheel drive sideways sitting engines for precisely this reason, the basic maintenance is difficult. It's a shame that this is the setup for the majority of cars made today.

That is why I don't use the tensioner too much because these tensioners don't let the belt go that. Easily., Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, tried with a lot of swearing a few months ago to get the belt off the alternator pulley as opposed to that nice smooth one lol

Yep. My nut head was stripped. Had to take to the shop for new tensioner pulley
Outstanding camera work sir! Great job! Thanks for doing this. It helped a lot!
Glad it helped! thanks
Did you take off the top passenger motor mount to get to the 19mm bolt on the tensioner?
yes I did, you dont have to but it is much easier especially with these tensioners that hardly can move, n it takes about 3 minutes to remove the engine mount, hope this helps, thanks for watching this video.
Thanks saved me a lot of time , great video

This was so helpful, thank you!!
thank you very appreciated.
Do we need a laser belt aligment tool to do this job? What is your take on that? Thats the only thing that's stopping me from. Doing it.
if all pulleys are aligned you don't need any thing else
Great video ! Thank you!
thank you very much for your time on the channel.

What if the tensioner bolt 19mm is stripped. How would you try to get belt back on?
I love these questions, here are 2 different links on how to remove it diffrent cars: ruclips.net/video/zG6FKKpp5Qk/видео.html

What year is your Camry and is it the SE? I ask this cause I know someone who just had their ac belt in the 2005 Camry SE actively shred while driving
