    Today we chat about why your WiFi sucks and it may be nothing you can do about it.
    This is because of WiFi interference and there is nothing you can do about it.
    So how much should we worry about other WiFi networks interfering with our WiFi speed?
    What can we do about the many wifi hotspots and access points that are blasting their WiFi signal everywhere?
    Do they really impact our internet and wifi speed?

    Your main LINKSYS router is designed to have the antennae pointed in a vertical orientation. This will help with signal propagation throughout the area surrounding the router. An antenna's radiating signals are perpendicular to their axis. If they're in a horizontal orientation, the signals propagate up to the sky and down into the ground instead of out. The only time you'll benefit is if you're directly at 90 degrees from the antenna's pointing direction. Keep the unit flat and the antennas pointing up.

      Me too. I had the entire house wired for CAT6 when it was built - every room and a couple outdoors. That turned out to be a great decision. My house is now very 'IoT' and there are any number of wifi bridges forced on me by people such as Wyze (or seem to think you need a wifi extender for everything). Plus half my appliances are internet connected. So I reserve the wifi for laptops, ipads etc., and I have no speed/hesitancy/latency issues anywhere.

    May need a larger parabolic shaped reflector around the router in order to increase range. Soda cans appear to small from your test and just mess up the antenni. Also, it would be interesting to see if the receive speed is the sample as the transmit speed.

    What’s sad is when your router/modem comes from internet company and you can’t do anything but complain then they schedule tech, who may or may not come out, but when he does he moves your card around at the “box”. So moral of this is, I wish I hadn’t become so dependent on internet.

    Basically....this is WiFi crosstalk. When wired, that is prevented by the twists in the wire and shielding. That is why Cat 7 can transfer data faster and better then Cat 5. Wi-Fi broadcasts in channels like a TV or Radio station. You have to be on channels that are not close to other channels, or you will definitely get interference. Also the device will have a hard time because it will end up trying to switch or connect to the other signal.

    • @bobkinney2430
      @bobkinney2430 3 года назад

      @@joefuentes2977 there are several terms that are closely related, cross talk is the oldest of the therms. There is also signal bleed over, channel hopping, RFI (radio frequency interference). Cross talk is a simpler term that describes when one channel interferes with the one next to it. Been around six TX, RX cables, scsi and parallel cables, etc. Wi-Fi is just another transmission medium, that can still suffer issues similar to wired medium.

    Hi Liron, I'm UK based and have a Sky broadband with router and repeater and extender installed to get signal around my house. Should all be set to use the same channel or each to different channels? Does cci happen between the devices in my own home? Ditto if I use an old router as a repeater or extender? It would be a nice extension to discuss this as part of this video or as a follow-up.
