The whole "I care about your health" thing is bull. NO ONE of the haters cares if you are healthy. The truth is they only care how you look. I don't see them jumping on people who drink smoke or do drugs. In fact, some of them do that themselves. They are just superficial haters. Shame is not a healthy source of motivation for any meaningful change. I feel like there is an enormous gap between public perceptions of physical and mental health. Physical conditions are external and the effects are easy to identify, everyone can understand that a person with a broken leg cannot walk. But I feel like internal issues are much more stigmatized because with no tangible displays of disability, it is easier to become frustrated with those affected.

I disagree with you boogie. I was obese at well over 300lbs at 5'11. People making fun of me is the ONLY thing that made me work out and have roughly 18 inch biceps. I'm not super skinny, but I lost over 100lbs throughout my life and joined the armed forces.

I am so glad I watched this. Being obese myself, I get a lot of hate and judgement for it, but it's the first time I've heard someone address the issue in the way you did. It sucks having to deal with looking in the mirror everyday, even more trying to fight it. Given I have tried every single diet there are available to man kind for six years with no results and no apparent biological issue actually, which makes it even more hard to fight it mentally - trust me, I had the will to keep going with a harsh diet for 2 years to no avail- , I had given up. And yes sometimes you get to the point you hate yourself so much you just stop giving a shit about your health, and try to convince yourself it's self acceptance. It's horrible to hate yourself to the point you just stop going out, end up losing your friends, even worse to find out some of those so-called friends only hung out with you because they look soooo much skinnier and prettier next to you. I gave up a long time ago, but hearing you say all of this made me want to do something about it. So I guess all I'm trying to say is thanks

It is true that I stay home a lot because job opportunities are scarce and I can't afford to go out and do stuff, and my closest friends are 3 bus rides away, but when I am at home I rarely eat. I drink a lot of water and only eat when there is someone at home eating as well. Fortunately for me, I don't over do it either. I eat less than most skinny people, but it seems that I have an extremely slow metabolism. When I was 17, I went on a 10 hour raid, uphill walk non stop. Only water and no food all day. I only ate one scoop of diet lemon icecream at the end of it. Came back with an extra 0.5kg. My mother and I are exploring surgery options for when I get a job.
Lea B Eating more fiber could help, it helps metabolism get a little faster, assuming you only drink water and not sodas you are doing fine, just be sure to drink 1.5 or 2 lt per day at least, you probably already knew all this but in case you didn't (wich i doubt) it may help you, if not then good luck in your surgery

I've received an incredibly large amount of hate for being too skinny for what's considered to be a normal Male. Constant verbal abuse and then physical abuse as I started to get older. I guess people didn't think I would be able to hit back because I looked weak... but they were wrong. Even my GF who had several groups of friends from several different schools while growing up who would constantly harass her about being a sickly looking anorexic twig. Even though she's thin she wasn't even that thin. Along with the looking "sickly" harassment she was also harassed by all her heavier friends for not having a decent sized chest. Girls who would tell her guys wouldn't like her because they don't like girls with small chests then try to rub it in her face at how big their's were. My sister who was also one of the skinner girls at her school was harassed a lot but I never talked to her much about it I would just hear her crying and talking to my mom.

I am a personal trainer and *it is NOT OK* for others to make fun of those who are struggling. Most people who make fun of others do so because they don't like their own body's. I want everyone to achieve success and for this to happen we need to help others, not put them down.

I used to be overweight in my school days, between grade 4-10
I went from being morbidly obese[bmi:22] to severely underweight[bmi 15] in a matter of 6 months in grade 11, so I kind of went to the opposite extreme - from genuine love to all things foody to genuine hate for everything that was not water[and later on cigarettes]. So uh, don't follow that path.
A BMI of 22 is on the lower end of healthy.

Your situation is much more real and serious than that of Francis. For a big guy he moves a lot while acting as another character in some of his videos. He has the ability to get better. He chooses to make videos instead. That's fine I'm not bashing him but for his health sake he should try a bit harder and replace video time with mild calorie burning movements. Also he could probably eat bit better watching his calorie intake.

While someone can be against being overweight due to being conscientious about health concerns, no one has the right to belittle any person. If someone is really that concerned about an overweight person destroying himself/herself in the flesh, that person needs to also remember that treating the overweight person badly is destructive on the inward person. Inevitably, all of our bodies will decay and die, regardless of how well we've taken care of them. The worse thing to do to a human is to make them feel like they are not valuable due to being overweight, having a handicap, different skin color, socioeconomic status...etc... Even beautiful people age and the mass majority of people discover that beauty is fleeting - only a passing phase in a person's life. If beauty is what people value, then their happiness will not have any longevity. If love is based upon lust, it won't last. There are a number of beautiful women I've seen who rely solely on their looks and cannot hold an intelligent conversation. Don't let people who don't have their life's priorities straight, control your emotions. One day they will figure it out, if they have a brain - or they will spend their old age trying to recapture what they cannot.

I don't really think anyone can care about your health on he internet, they don't even know you. I once had a random person look through my photos, guess my BMI, and then make me a diet plan. I'm not even obese. If my family tells me, that's a different thing.
People hate other people who are different or vulnerable. Why? Because they themselves are different and vulnerable in real life and need to vent on the internet to feel stronger. Haters who sit behind their Mom's computer monitor and type hateful things to other people because they get bullied in school, they have no friends, they gave up trying to get laid after age 30, or they need to boost their self-esteem by making others feel worse than they do.

I weigh 225 lbs and I am ridiculed almost daily by family and friends. Granted, I've started flipping out on them right back and it usually shuts them up, but only temporarily. You are totally right about overweight people commonly resorting to eating due to some mental issue. I have dealt with depression and anxiety my whole life and one of my go-to forms of comfort was always food. As a teen with a healthy metabolism, this wasn't an issue as I could literally eat all day long and not gain a pound. But these days? Not so much. And depression and anxiety have kept my eating habits in poor shape. I made attempts to change my eating habits early this year, but due to some recent events in my life, I have fallen back into the habit of unhealthy eating. Its an endless cycle and I hope one day I'll take control of it. But its an uphill battle and right now, I am losing.
Robert Santellan I've been reading comments on this video and a lot of skinny people think it's just as easy to just not eat the unhealthy food. They have no idea how deep overeating is ingrained in the mind. In the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy remake they had this gun that made you feel the way the person was that shot you. I wish that gun existed so we could all relate better to each other.

I was about to be considered obese and decided to start a diet, the nutrition expert told me, as you pointed out, that I was getting fatter due to the sugar and carbs that I ate and that I had to cut them down, thankfully not eliminate 100% of them, but cut them all down.
The first 2 weeks were killer, but then I got used to it, also had to eat 2 snacks per day with no more of 100 calories to accelerate my metabolism (granola bars, yogurts, whole grain cookies... I kinda love them now). So I continue to eat everything, just in different quantities and frequencies, that's what I would recommend to others!
I also need to do more excercise... that part I'm still struggling to actually be constant on, I excercise 1 or 2 days then quit D:

+Juan Escobar Hey there, know how that feels with the exercise. I would suggest just doing something fun (that involves active activity) one or two days a weeks for an hour and move up from there. That way its nor a chore to get up and do it. I joined a sports team awhile back and can already feel much improvement in fitness.
I've lost about 25 pounds so far and I recommend eating oatmeal and soup, they are filling but don't have a lot of calories.

But in doing this, you dont fret over it. You see it... but you seem to have stopped caring. You care about your happiness directly. Thats something many people (even completely healthy people) never do. As someone with my own issues... thank you. While I am not in your exact position, you help to inspire. I suffer depression and social anxiety... and yet I see from your example that you can love yourself even if you have problems, and that a good judge of who you are is in how those you love percieve you. My fiancée loves me, and for the first time in a long time... I love myself too. Thank you for helping me to see that. I still have depression... but like you, I will not let my condition prevent me from loving who I am.

Personally, this is the exact reason I don't make fun of people to such an extent irl or online. I've always had a fear that whatever hurtful thing I say might be the straw that breaks the camel's back, and they go home and end it all.
I find life is so much better for me when I make those around me comfortable and happy, whether I've met them for the first time or I've known them for years. Seeing smiles makes me feel like I've done something right.

I remember when I was a child, I was skinny as a toothpick, I had a friend over, Dr. Phil was on the TV talking about obese children, and all of the kids on the show were morbidly obese; my friend could not stop laughing and being in awe at these kids, calling them names, etc; I ushered him out of the room for a moment while I blocked the channel, when he came back I told him the show ended.
Point is, even when I was a small child, and not overweight, I still understood that shaming and feeling some form of enjoyment out of ridiculing others was wrong, it's almost no surprise that some people never grow out of it, as sad as that is.
Honestly, I don't give a damn what you decide to do with your body. Your fatness does not affect me so I don't care. What does affect me is your behavior which is great boogie. I also use the word hate sparingly.
Accepting obesity is just as bad as hating on it, neither solves the problem, one sweeps the problem under the rug while the other sets it on fire. I don't agree with the hate movement, but I would absolutely support a tax on soda much like the cigarette taxes.

It's better to stick to whole foods for meals and keep the volume of the meals high by adding lots of vegetables. Also, remove all drinks from your diet that are not water.

I used to be 198 lbs and 5'6 at 13 (which is a bmi of 32.0! I was also very unfit so had basically no muscle.) back in April. I started eating right and exercising on most days. I'm now 14 still 5'6, but 151 lbs instead and have gained some muscle.

Update: I made it! I weigh 131 lbs, just trying to maintain it with the exercise and healthy eating but I'm eating as much as I burn now. Went from XL to small...

I have had a few overweight friends in my life and all of them were very sensitive to other people needs, very funny (it seems to almost always be the case), generous and always there for you when you need them the most. I suppose that being hammered all the time by insults, misconception and even physical abuse sculpt them into better human being.
