I have an 89 xjs convertible with 15k miles thats been sitting for 24 years, what should I do to prepare the car to start, oil change and fuel removal and flush is key but what else should be necessary? Thanks
Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime :-(
Hi Abe. My car is a 6.0 V12 from 1993. I have an Error code FF77 which says 'Speed Signal - Looks for Engine Speed Signal from Engine Ignition Control Module' - The cars starts sometimes then not others. Any ideas? How did you fix your issue in the end?
On the V12, there are two important sensors: the Crank Position Sensor (Front Crank Shaft) and the Speed Sensor (Rear on the Flywheel). I suspect that since you say that the car will start sometimes, the connector on the Crank Position Sensor is bad and will need to be changed. Change them both. They get dried out and brittle. The car WILL NOT Run if the Crank Sensor is not working or connected.
You will find the Crank Sensor connector on the Left Bank (looking from Rear of Car) next to the AC compressor. It snakes down to the sensor on the bottom of the crank.
Many thanks Abe that's very useful.. I will try that and let you know what I find. It may be a few weeks as I live in Ireland and the car is in Portugal!
Thank you sir, I've been looking for a picture or video to find the crankshaft position sensor. Great video!

Sorry to ask where does the fuel pump gets power from ? We got no power on the pump ?
Wish you could diagnose my 1996 Jaguar XJS....so matter what we fix, she goes back to stalling with frequency on warm start.

Hi, Can you post a link to the second part of this video? Thanks
I never got around to it. What problem are you having? Injectors not firing?

That belt on the AC compressor needs replacing.
