@@catcrazy336 They are good people all over the world. What did you say that was so positive and upbeat?? Nothing at all. Feel sorry for yourself. You are the one complaining about the state of the world instead of understanding that good men and women exist.
@Chad Hoskins Does God love all His people, even the least of His people which is ALL of us who He asked All of us to love as He loves us, to care for, to have each other's backs? Does God accept into Heaven those people who abuse their family members as 'discipline', who teach hate and abuse in Jesus' Name...how about the ministers and the politicians who preach hatred of anybody, gays, Muslims, whoever in Christ's Name with His cross or worse yet His crucifix with His suffering body depicted thereon on the alter behind them? Do those well meaning and deluded folks find a forgiving God to judge them? Jesus never asked us to judge or punish each other and as an adult, I was too ignorant as a kid which is what kids usually are why they need our instruction, I can not picture those same ministers turning around to face that cross or crucifix and preach to Him what they just preached to us. I guess that is my criteria of judging my actions, would I defend those actions and words at the foot of His cross with Him up there dying for me, all of us. And, no, I still 'f' up, don't get me wrong but that criterion does steady and inform my behaviors especially at this sorry time in our political circumstances. So do gays go to Heaven, if they don't do the rest of us sinners have a chance? Ask that of the parents of the six million kids in Child Protective Services put there because their (to them fully justified by the scriptures) Christian parents abused and put those kids in danger of being killed by these same parents who most of them were married in a Christian church. How about the abusers back in the day who forced their wives and daughters (no DNA testing so the boyfriend was off the hook) to have the dirty coat hanger abortion which was the leading cause of death for women in their child bearing years. The college studies of the '70s linked abuse with the deadly abortions but do our politicians and 'spiritual' leaders even whisper out against family violence which STILL drives abortions...just the clean, safe, legal abortion. They KNOW the dirty coat hanger abortion will return if they get rid of Roe v Wade but they do not speak of how they plan to protect the girls and women against their abusers any more than the ministers and politicians spoke out against family violence when I was a girl in the 50's and 60's. I count my Catholic Church in this group of silent 'leaders'. Nobody cared about the violence forced upon the girls and women back in the day and by their silence they still don't care. Are these folks going to Heaven? Do the ministers pass judgement on the husband or father or boyfriend who forces a girl to have an abortion today...no??? If they do, it certainly is not in the same robust, implacable, public terms they use to condemn the gay folks whose being gay looks like it is a genetic variation, certainly NOT a choice. If it is genetic, God made the genetics, argue with Him. The family violence is NOT genetic, it may have certain genetic traits which can exacerbate the violence but it is first and foremost taught...in the Name of Jesus. And then we wonder why He wept in the Garden of Gethsemane knowing His sacrifice was vital and unavoidable and hopefully NOT knowing the extent of the abuse of His Words would be used to foment down the years. We each of us have to answer for our own sins some of which are a lot more grisly than being gay and, sadly enough, not even considered sins by those committing them. Jesus asked us to take care of the least of His people, that would be ALL OF US, gave us the Beatitudes and the Sermon on the Mount, the challenge of Christianity which a Protestant Army Chaplain taught this Catholic Army nurse to guide us. But is a copy of The Beatitudes, the Words taught to us directly by Jesus, even promoted like the 10 Commandments, the grade school version of Christianity? We ALL know the answer to that question. Good luck, stay safe and trust in God...our human 'leaders' obviously have their shortcomings which they need us, 'The Body of Christ', as they say in my Catholic Church, the sacred congregations of the Protestant Churches, to lead and also instruct and support those same leaders. Just because they are leaders up to and including the Pope, they are no less vulnerable and fallible as the members of their flocks. Sorry about the rant fest but it seemed like it needed saying.

What I do have a problem with is Christians denying the fact countless faiths predate their own, and are worthy of the respect Christianity all too often demands, and that countless Christians feel they have the right to tell the rest of society that, their lives and specific events such as these holidays would be pointless without a belief in Jesus and God. These holidays have traditionally been a time when people set aside their differences and came together, which is how most people celebrate them today. Today many folks choose to come together regardless of their religious and or political views, so it's unfortunate that some would use these holidays as a means to divide society by playing the whole "My faith is better then yours" game. With all of the positive teachings about, tolerance, accepting those who are different, etc, within the scripture which could be used to bring all of society together in peace, it's sad that some would rather choose to use passages which promote, division, hate, and bigotry. One such example will be those who ignore all the good Jim Neighbors has done to try and bring folks together, and to celebrate peace and love, and cast hate on him instead simply because he was Gay. Europe went through 1,200 plus years of intellectual and scientific stagnation due to the Church having a stranglehold on society, by using the power of the Church and that of the State to persecute those who sought out the truth and who tried to promote those facts that went against church dogma.
