    Great show and very interesting information. I do have the LP Love letters with the RCA logo on top (orange label), and now I know why there are 2 different covers. As for the Chuck Berry song 'My ding a ling' which prevented 'Burning love' from the number 1 spot, I do believe that it Berry's first, and only, number 1 song on Billboard. Looking forward to your next episodes.

    your thoughts...with your friend there....about elvis not moving during aloha...you said it was the perfect live recording....bingo...that was always my thought...a sublime live recording.....i had an almost life sized poster from aloha at bottom of my bed all during my childhood.
    marty lacker gave an account of a very sick elvis the following morning, shivering on his hotel room balcony hardly able to move or speak....i think he was weak as a kitten with the 500 calorie a day diet he was on.

    OBSERVATIONS: BURNING LOVE WAS A NO 1, IN THE UK on the opposite chart record mirror. What a
    Strange thing that elvis movie songs were looked on as silly and my ding a ling gets top slot . Anyways elvis owed chuck one or two i guess.

      Hi David. The answer is...no. I mean the black RCA dog near top U.S. pressing. To my knowledge, there is no black 50th Anniversary U.S. label for that LP. Not in the U.S. at least.

    My Ding-a-Ling" is a novelty song written and recorded by Dave Bartholomew. It was covered by Chuck Berry in 1972 and became his only number-one Billboard Hot 100 single in the United States

    I bet RCA changed the cover at the colonel’s insistence, but then used the backstock of original covers for later issues - and not being a new album by say, 75-76, colonel wouldn’t notice. Or care!

    • @collectingtheking
      @collectingtheking  4 года назад +1

      Agreed. Same story with the "Fool" album. Not sure if it was Elvis who was offended by the original cover and asked to have it changed or the colonel. Heard two different stories. That would've beeen in 1973.

    • @mikebutcher2024
      @mikebutcher2024 2 года назад

      In 75-76, the colonel no longer had any say on back catalog items prior to the 1973 buyout. RCA could do what it wanted.
