Robert, do record values differ if they are either US releases or Canadian releases?
Funny you asked. Many years ago, I asked that same question to Chris Giles (The Elvis Shop) in Memphis at one of my shows and I'll never forget what he said...(in reference to the value of Canadian pressings VS U.S. pressings) "I mean, they're from Canada, aren't they?" I assume he meant that they weren't worth as much. So. I have to agree to this day. There ARE certain Canadian releases that have gone up or maintained they're value like "Something For Everybody" because of it's cover variation. But for the most part, I think collectors in general prefer the original U.S. pressings. TCB
Great show Bob. I still remember our Elvis discussions at the old Hillside record shows. Regards to Carol.
Thank you Robert for another interesting and informative video. Nice to run into you at the countryside record show.
~ Robert, when you have Mr. Tunzi on, please ask him if he still plans to release a brand new "Elvis Sessions IV" book in the near future. I believe others would also be interested to hear his answer to that. Thanks!
I'll try to remember that. TCB
@@collectingtheking Thank you
~ The PICKWICK licensed Elvis albums (formerly on the RCA Camden label) were first issued in December 1975 ... 24:14
Would love it if you showed more hard to find stuff. Maybe Sun 45’s or 78’s, or other early hard to find stuff. Do you think Elvis Sun records will increase in value as the years go one?
In my Opinion, I think the SUN 45s and 78s are guaranteed to always increase in value, especially in MINT condition.
Great video as always Robert greetings from the Netherlands 👍
Thanks 👍
I have Recorded Live On Stage In Memphis on a tan label in my collection with side A and side B
Excellent! Would love to see a picture of it if possible for a future show.

A very cool and informative video! Nice Robert!
Glad you liked it!
I have one question. I thought your det!il of record collecting and the industry growth was quite detailed and well done. However, I wish you would have done a more specific, or deep dive, into the Elvis record collector. Who was the first one? When was the first Elvis specific collector's show. The growth specifically of the growth perhaps decline of Elvis records and memorabilia. Perhaps on a future show.
We'll see. But I'm pretty sure it would be impossible to determine who was the first one. LOL.
@@collectingtheking But is there a " Godfather " of Elvis collecting? Soneone who set the bar and standard as a top Elvus collector? Maybe the guy who put together Presleyanna?
Hi Robert love your video what you Very nice show, as always .keep up the good work
Thank you, I will
Hi Robert, thanks a lot for a new interesting video. Stay Healthy !
Thank you very much. TCB.
My mom bought one kislux and she loves it. It had been there for over 10 years when she went out with it.
Not sure I understand your comment. Sorry.
One more thing, Robert. I would lay odds on it that your Mint copy of “Worldwide Gold Award Hits” rigid vinyl came from the Rockaway pressing plant. I have seen several and ALL were from Rockaway.
I'll have to check mine and see. Thanks!
Great show as always, Robert! You hit on a point that I have visited on many occasions. Where is this market going? The way I see it, Elvis’ original fan base are aging and in reality, they’re dying off. Most collectors today are 2nd generation fans, such as myself (I’m 62). As time goes on, fewer people are going to be interested in collecting or even listening to Elvis. It will become a niche hobby probably by 2040 or so. Along with this, demand will go down. There are already more NM copies of “Harum Scarum” than there are collectors who need one in their collection! Supply is beginning to outweigh demand. As for these new FTD’s, Friday Music, Music on Vinyl, etc. releases go that we know are horribly overpriced, they will ALL plummet in “value” over time. One day they will be commonly seen in thrift shops along with all the John Gary, Billy Vaughn and Montovani albums. But that will be years down the road. I just like to collect for the FUN of it and love finding interesting varieties. Cheers! Walter
It's funny the past year or two I've often wondered about this sort of thing especially with the elvis film doing so well,i had a feeling that prices would hold there own,now that we have a younger generation interested. Anyway great video and can't wait to see Johnny b. Luv the show.
Though it is great that we have a new generation of Elvis fans, I question just how long that will last. Collect for the FUN of it!
Great show Robert. I prefer the original vinyls than the re-issues.
Incredible show. Really love the theme and you nailed it on values, Ebay and FTD Vinyl. I am really enjoying when you pull out something rare or something that you think might go up in value. It makes me go through my vinyl and see if I happen to have it as well. Love it. It also helps when when I am going through record bins at shows and garage sales. Seeing the same old albums but knowing what makes them rarer than the usual ones. I hope that makes sense. I have the non gatefold Sings for Children as well without the card on the back. Mine has, what looks to be record club number, - R143637 - right under the word cassette. I will try and post a photo. Again - Love the show! Please do more of those gems that we need to be looking for when we are out hunting Elvis records.
@@markroberts2406 Yes, that “Elvis Sings For Children” non-gatefold (R143637) is the exact example that I own as well, which makes me wonder if that was the only way they were available, through RCA Music Service.
Great show as always. Prices really are unknown. I've seen some stuff that I paid say $20 sell for a lot more on eBay. I think in some cases people just lack some knowledge and overpay. But the same can be said for some sellers, sometimes people don't really know what they have and list stuff way below market. So, I think it works both ways. I'm lucky that I started collecting the FTD vinyl's when they came out, so I have the complete collection. I don't think I would pay the asking prices for the early ones today. I did however see a Jailhouse Rock FTD vinyl go for $40 this past weekend. So that's an example of been in the right place at the right time. The On Stage vinyl you showed tonight, I have this one, with the shrink wrap still on it, and mine has a Best Buy series sticker on it. I noticed I had it after I re-watched your show about the best buy series. Thank you again for another great show, keep them coming.
I love a good orange label discussion. The WWGAH set came out just like the other 1970 releases to include the Camdens, a short run of rigid followed by flexible vinyl in 1971. The Paul Combs site has them documented, but as "non-flex", not rigid. As the owner of probably hundred or more orange labels, I have compared them a lot. These are just as rigid as the deep groove variation and I call them flat label rigids. There is a weight just below it that isn't as rigid but not flexible either and I prefer to think of those as the "non-flex" variation. I think there is as many as five vinyl thickness levels in the orange label releases but I won't go down that rabbit hole, I'll keep it simple...lol
Hello, Mike. If you’ve noticed, the majority of “flat label” Rigids are most commonly Indianapolis pressings. Some actually hail from the Rockaway and Hollywood plants, but those two normally issued the “deep groove” LP’s. Have fun with your collection! Walt
@@mikebutcher2024 Yes, when it comes to the RCA Victor Orange Label pressings, it really is a rabbit hole! Have fun 😁
Very interesting show Robert. I couldn't be there but watched it today. I don't buy new reissue stuff but I buy original pressings. Ftds are too expensive and I think original pressings are better. Adios.
Very nice show, as always😃...greetings from Bucharest, Romania 😄....keep up the good work👍💪💪💪.....TCB FOREVER!
What a show,so informative as always thank you can’t believe it’s episode 42 already
Thanks, John. I can't believe it either. :)
Great video Robert. I have stopped buying modern vinyl (FM, MOV FTD) because of the absurd pricing but do buy a lot of the older 1st press and reissues. I feel these 1st press and reissues may now be dropping in price, but in 10 years all that new vinyl will be worth next to nothing (because the scarcity is artificial, saturation will occur and the market will collapse) and prices for 1st press and reissues will climb again (if there is still any demand - the fanbase is not getting younger). Markets and demands do fluctuate. Whatever happens, then I still do have a nice collection of Elvis lifetime records that gives me joy until I die.
Alexander, I agree. That's one of the most important things about collecting (in general) is that it gives us joy, no matter what happens in the future.
@@alexandernijeboer8385 I agree with you 100% on everything that you said. These “new vinyl” releases that people are spending up to $1,000 each for (stupid money!) will eventually plummet and sell for peanuts in comparison to their current “value” because people will realize that it’s the same darn music that is on the Black Label, Dog Near Top reissues from the late 1970’s! Such a waste of money!
@@collectingtheking Thanks for replying Robert. Really love your show. Keep them coming.
HI......If you follow Ebay sealed original pressings of Elvis are skyrocketing
Gregg, yes, indeed. I've seen that. That's a topic for another show. Thanks for watching.
That was good. I've been collecting for years also and and always find things I didn't know existed. That's part of the fun I think. I've bought a few things from you and was very happy with what I received. Keep up the great work. Love your videos.👍
Thanks, Tim.
Got both those box sets.
Great, informative video as usual! While I often wonder if the floor will drop out on prices as our generation thins out and eventually disappears, since I don't anticipate selling my collection, it really isn't important to me. After I'm gone, my kids can do with it what they wish. It would be nice if it would bring a good sum at that time, but no one knows, maybe one of the kids will be in a position to sell it off a piece at time to maximize what they could get but that would just be gravy for them (I hope). I think the money is made by those who deal records and look to turn the sales around quickly. Current "limited edition" releases by all artists that are deemed desirable are scooped up by those looking to resell after the new supply is exhausted. Except for select issues I suspect doing a "buy & hold" investment in vinyl, of any kind, will be a losing proposition. The enjoyment I get from building the collection and, of course, listening to the music can't really have a value placed on it. So now I've got to start looking for a couple of things I saw on this episode and will probably overpay now that you've told everyone 🤣
Thomas, I have to agree with just about everything you said. However, as a dealer, thanks to the 2022 ELVIS film, I've seen a rise of younger buyers and collectors. I hope that with hold over in the future. We'll see. Finally, it's funny you should say that about the records I talk about on my shows. I have seen one guy who sells on Ebay who always seems to list some of the records I talk about on my shows at higher than usual opening bids right after my shows are posted. LOL! Thanks for watching.
Hi Robert, I like you started collecting back in the late 1960's. The local record store was my go to as I got to know to the store owner and he would always let me know when new Elvis records were coming out. I over the years would go to second hand stores looking for rare recordings. Then as you said Ebay came along not only here but also in different parts of the World. Discogs values are subjective. The FTD earlier limited editions releases are commanding crazy prices today,
Brian, I agree. Thanks for watching.
Thank you Robert for your fascinating insights into the future. I must say the FTD vinyls are great but I’ll take an original 1254 any day!! Best wishes and look forward to the future shows planned. 😀
Always interesting, Robert. TCB ⚡️ ⚡️
Thanks, Michael.
As a long time fan from '56 when i was 8 i saw Elvis 30 times 69 to 76..(taped them, on bootlegs)..met him in '67 and '68 too...❤...well i was so shocked to see the CBS special when it came out....ive probably only watched it a few times as it is just so sad to watch!!!....yet i've watched TTWII and Elvis on Tour hundreds of times, even have all the outtakes...i love how he sings i really dont want to know but otherwise it's just too sad to see Elvis like that!!!....a great episode with lots of new information...thks! 😊🇨🇦
Sounds fascinating😊
Looking forward to this episode as I grew up in the 70's with no internet. Collecting via record stores and flea markets.
Love the sound of this one , can't wait. Luv the show.
Everything decent is disappearing.
Great subject. Looking forward to the episode
Can’t wait for this episode. Thanks Robert. 😊
Neil is a long time friend of mine! I love seeing and hearing all his collections and stories. Thank you for featuring him!
I've been going back through some of the earlier episodes and decided to pull out all my U.S. Elvis For Everyones this time to look at the yellow vs gold border colors on the back. I was expecting to only see the yellow border on my AYL1 Best Buy copy but was wrong. My orange flex, tan, black label DNT, and AYL1 copies all had the yellow border.
@@mikebutcher2024 - interesting. I'll keep an eye out for that.
Got this although knife 🔪 scratches over 2nd vinyl because my crazy mom thought I'd ripped my younger brothers comic . I hadn't and she's nuts
