Love the show. The Live in Memphis and He Touched Me with Grammy stickers is really cool. I not shocked at all…….there is no rhyme or reason for the things RCA did.

Another great show Robert. I knew about the Grammy sticker on the album He touched me, but never knew it was also featured on Live on stage in Memphis. I"m guessing you won't be selling that copy? As far as the FTD books, I have a few of them, including Fashion for a king (which I bought the first time it was released). It's a great book, and the 2 concerts were unreleased at that time.

I was a thermoplastic engineer for 15 years. We used a limited proportion of reground plastic purely to save money. We had to be careful as too much regrind would affect the quality and properties of the product. For the customer there was no benefit in the finished product not being 100% virgin plastic.

Love Letters From Elvis was the first Elvis LP to be originally released in Dynaflex. The original release of Elvis Country was in rigid vinyl. It is just that subsequent pressings were done in Dynaflex as it came out shortly after its initial release. You would find rigid and Dynaflex versions of Elvis Country in the same bin in 1971. Again The Sun Sessions and EP Boulevard first pressings were tan label. But Promised Land and Today first pressings were orange label, the tan label soon followed in 1975. There have been plenty of transitional incidents. My favorite is Roustabout, first pressings were on the Silver Top large dog label and within a week or two they were pressed in the subsequent White Top small dog label. The Silver Top Stereo version being particularly rare. The Silver Top Mono is easier to find, but it was also soon replaced by the White Top Monaural label. There are copies with one style label on one side and the other style label on the other side!

Hello fellow fan! Just want to let you know that Tan Label and Orange Label copies of "Promised Land" and "Today" were pressed simultaneously! The Hollywood pressing plant manufactured the Orange Label copies where Indianapolis pressed the Tan Label copies.

Hi Robert, Having started collecting in 1971 all but of a couple of the early albums and soundtracks in my original collection were orange label dynaflex. I recently bought a small lot of albums very cheap because I saw there was a Kissin' Cousins NO cast photo album.. I was a little disappointed it turned out to be an orange label (what do you want for 8 bucks, so no big deal). However, the inner sleeve was from the early to mid 60s so I know the album is not original to the cover. My question is how would anyone tell it was a "rare" orange label with the No Cast photo unless you unsealed it to find it that way? If I switched out the inner sleeve on mine wouldn't it appear to be the uncommon pairing? It makes me wonder a bit if that was actually a real "thing." It doesn't really matter to me as I don't dive that deep into variations. Great show as always!

Hi Thomas. Good question and one I can answer with confidence. Of course it is possible for someone to swap newer records with older covers (even in 1971) however, in all my years I have found this rare combination at least three to four times and believe them to be a legit product of RCA factories. The key to them being legit is the absolute mint cover and flexible record with the addition of the 1971 black and white inner sleeve. Sounds like the one you found might have been swapped. But the one's I found have always been from collections of orange label reissues (like the one I showed on one of my earlier shows). Thanks for watching!

Yes, I have no doubt that the one I have was swapped out.@@collectingtheking

I don't think VHS or BETA tapes have any value except to novelty media collectors. I got rid of my tapes a long time ago. Hope this answers your question.
