This is now my favorite series.
My man managed to take down a Black Knight in two attempts but died more than 20 to the Gargoyles? Yep, that is Dark Souls for you.
Did the black knight even take two attempts? I thought he killed it first try
Tbf the Black knight's are insanely easy to parry, and fighting two enemies at once can be tricky, especially with this games omni-directional rolling.
The black knight took himself down.
@@thomasdevlin5825 I couldn't recall right then if he did to the first knight he found, just that it was very close.
@@huntsman197He did 1st try, but had to spent all his estus. Was a fair fight. Not one you can say "You're cheating!"
bros moans at the start got me acting unwise
He's definitely the Chosen Undead, only he can moan like this.
IM SO SALTY HE GOT THE BLACK KNIGHT GREATSWORD ON HIS FIRST RUN. My favorite weapon in the game and it never drops for me 😂
"Walking across these beams, child's play"
FORESHADOWING
"Its too soon to be suffering so much..."
Poor summer child.... if only he knew....
Bee has parried more times in these two episodes than I have my entire souls experience. This includes 13 ng+ for ds3 and 3 in elden ring
In Dark Souls 1 parry is really easy. It is the DS3 and Elden Ring where I was never able to parry properly except a few times here and there. I learnt it when I had to face Gwyn because he is still beatable without parrying but parrying makes him way too easy.
Black Knight Ultra Greatsword... My beloved
Every big enemy or dragon in this game you can cut off the tail and get a cool weapon. If you get yourself a bow and a few hundred arrows you can go back to the dragon on the bridge, shoot his tail from under the bridge. Eventually his tail pops off and you will get a cool sword that will carry you half way through the game.
I am so thankful he listens to the dialogue
4:36 is why I love watching people on their first playthrough.
The black knight falling off the ledge had me in stitches
Getting the Black Knight Ultra Great Sword is a pretty big Win. It’s rare and most go through play throughs without getting it if the chances aren’t in their favor. Furthermore, it’s just a super good weapon once you have the stats for it. I can totally see that being your main arm if you’re going for a strength build.
There are way better options than the drake sword that you can barely find materials to upgrade unless you invade
"Too soon to be suffering so much" you dont even know.
4:46 mans literally got one of the best weapons in the entire game....and beat both Black Knights first try? Nah dudes absolutely cracked fr.
Genuinely, for this being your first playthrough, you are seriously good! You've got those gamer instincts!
This is already my favorite playthrough
33:16 "And I took that personally" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
"Dark Souls Heal Animation is Slow"
Monster Hunter players before World: you're funny
me and the boys popping a farcaster every time we get hurt because we hate healing animations
Now road to blighttown 😁
I’ve never played any Souls games. However, this game seems like the PERFECT YT series :) I’m really enjoying it so far
Well they are super hard. He probably didn't show all the deaths navigating here.
@@barcster2003 which is fine. Watching a player struggle on a single boss for 1+ hours is not fun in a livestream format for me. But, watching the highlights in a RUclips video is perfect :) (spending a lot of time on these enemies isn’t an issue for the player, just the viewer)
Souls is an experience. This game teaches u how to play by being tough on u. Everyone that played this game and survived came out a better and much more focused and patient. The sheer joy of clearing an obstacle u had trouble with in these games is indescribable
The sheer patience on display in the last attempt was really fun to watch. Maintaining that focus while you wait for those openings is really intense. Great job my man! \[T]/
Thank you! I appreciate that a lot. I’m doing my best in terms of concentration, these games are no joke.
That bonfire is the biggest prank From Soft pulled on the newbies. I remember myself playing exactly like that but all this going up and down started giving me a headache. I finally caved in and looked up an online guide and found out you can just easily run past the dragon. Patience is a virtue. You are not supposed to run blindly. You can take cover behind pillars and wait for it to swoop down.
I love that despite like 30 deaths you're committed to not summoning, keep it up.
On the topic of the deaths maybe ad a little bright stroke to the death count, cause when its on dark background it's a little hard to read.
the good old Bell Gargoyles, A great and very difficult boss fight. I remember it took many attempts as well for me to take them down as well.
Ah man this was hilarious . The toughest thing about the gargoyles is that you won’t think to not use lock on cause it’s been crucial so far. But without lock on, it’s more manageable. Great video
Nice job, your making good progress, but still a long journey ahead. Never give up no matter what happens :)
Don't you dare go hollow
I'm not gonna lie, this 1st-time walkthrough is so fun and easy to watch! Great job, man!
here's something the game never tells you: 32 is the required strength for that greatsword but that's only if you wanna one-hand it. you can use it with both hands with 22 strength iirc
You can't cheat the Dex requirements though gotta have them up to full
To be more precise: dual-wield gives you +50% str.
Always hit the tails… maybe even the tail of a certain red dragon… using a bow from below the bridge 😅
A tip: One issue thats screwing your stamina is you constantly block. That makes your stamina recharge significantly slower.
Really enjoying this playthrough, has a lot of fun energy and natural intuition
Lmao always so fun to watch people experience my fav game ever keep it up we believe in you!!
Looking forward to THE Area with the black knight cousins, you think you had pain? You just wait to learn the true meaning of pain... 😂
22:00 you have no idea how lucky you just got...
The spike in the death count from 7 was hilarious. I never tried playing DS solo, but considering i always go with the Mage, i don't think i would struggle as much. Maybe 1 off these days I'll buy the Remaster and give it a go, just to see if i have improved at all after who knows how many Souls-like games under my belt.
that bonk sound is so hilarious
The Thoroland guy's voice sounds like Azurda from Xenoblade 2, maybe not the same guy but they sure sound alike
Encountered the knights in the church, one of them dropped the Baulder Side Sword, which became my favorite weapon for my first playthrough.
I see that you're leveling Strength like an absolute gigachad! Greatswords and shields are a really fun build in this game, definitely worth the stat investment; you'll need lots of Endurance to compensate for the high costs and weight though!
Also, that Black Knight Greatsword that you found is awesome! Personally I prefer the Claymore and Zweihander, but it's a fun weapon nonetheless. You've actually come very close to finding those weapons too, explore a bit more and you'll be rewarded!
Did the drake on the bridge get nerfed?
'Cause I remember him trying to cook me up from way farther away and having to run my happy ass to those stairs before getting toasted by a damn hair.
NPC summons usually aren’t OP or carry you, the most help they provide is splitting the bosses attention
Best video series on Darl Souls in such a long time!! I genuinely laughed myself sick😂 Thank you for making my Sunday❤
Don’t you dare go hollow on us, Dee
Shield/spear guys - kick the shield.
Watching all the vods/streams was a blast DeeBee! Ever since you did the Demon's Souls video, I was dying to see you play more souls ( no Pun Intended🤣). It's great to see you come back and finally be making a series out of it now.
The patience paid off 😂, Thank you!
I've been watching your content since BOTW and went through the entire Zelda journey with ya. Either on stream or in RUclips videos. It's great to see go from Zelda to Dark Souls, two of my favorite games!
Love the content bro, keep up the great work! ❤
That moment when you first lose a large amount of souls forever... it's a right of passage in a souls game. It's when you finally kind of let go and feel free
cant stop watching this series, really this is so fun
Swap the heater shield back in for wooden shield as wooden shield isn’t 100% physical block.
Heater shield is one of the lightest 100% physical block shields in game so worth sticking with that as well as the long sword 👍👍
Red dragon is the best farm area early on
Can’t wait for more.
good going this has ben omage apalth fo the way fo wite
I can't believe he got the black knight great sword to drop. That's crazy luck
I never played dark souls but enjoying the gameplay because of you deebeegeek
4:55 FYI if you 2 hand the weapon I believe it reduces the str requirement by ~half, but don't quote me on that unsure if it's half or 40% or whatever but it's significant
He's actually good at parrying I can see that.
Dude you got the Black Knight Greatsword AND a chunk off a single gravity kill? Holy crap your luck.
Gargoyles are one of the biggest walls fresh players face. It took many friends of mine ages to beat. Definitely an iconic fight, even among iconic fights
2:06 ah, this shorcut lmao. I love seeing people realize an extra 2 feet onto the bridge would make them have this amazing shortcut
4:40 EXCUSE ME????? not only did you deal with arguably one of the tougher blk knights, but you got his sword? I love that sword. That was pure comedy 😂😂
5:24 PARRY GOD
16:20 the duality between andre the blacksmith, and his basment "pet" is always a good shock to the system
If you press square or X depending on the controller you use, in tye item menu, you can get additional information on items. Sometimes they explain what they can be used for, but also explains lore (much like elden ring)
4:37 masterful tactics
5:45 you can do a kick to break open a guard, by pressing forward+light attack - the same as you to with the jumping forward attack. A kick won't necessarily break the guard of every enemy in the game, but it's better than trying a normal attack just to get bounced.
9:12 never turn your back from the enemy or otherwise ignore his threat, if they aren't recovering from a finished attack sequence, or are otherwise momentarily unable to attack.
Here's a thing - in Dark Souls 1, armor's Defense actually had some impact, compared to later games in the series.
Did you find which stat increases the equipment load? That stat is probably the most important in DS1
Basically, the more efficient way of increasing your damage is not raising your stat, but reinforcing your weapon - you get more damage for your expenditure, and you don't raise your level, which is important from two reasons:
1) you can focus on developing other stats
2) you don't overlevel yourself for purposes of multiplayer
Generally, see what you need for a certain weapon and reach it. You need *guts* to wield that Black Knight Ultra Greatsword.
...although, some wisdom. Reinforcing weapons drastically increases the damage dealt (hint: it's not by the difference of the vague "attack power" stat you see... the actual damage dealt increases more than that. The damage formula in DS1 is quite complex). If you reinforcee your current sword (or some other "lesser" weapon you get and like well-enough) enough, you might find that your BKUGS, when you get to wield it, might not entirely... *cut it.* And reinforcing it (and many of these top-of-the-shelf special weapons) requires rare materials. Still, there are things to consider, for your weapon choices:
1) animations, reach, etc. An Ultra Greatsword can sweep hordes of enemies with a single swing, but the attacks are relatively slow, and expose you for a very noticeable while after them (you won't be able to block, parry, or roll away as soon as with lighter weapons). Reach is nice, but there's a catch - if your attack hits a wall, it will bounce. This might prevent you from hitting an opponent with a horizontal swing and put you in a veeeery bad spot.
2) unlisted properties - aside from damage, blocking ability, possibility of inflicting status effects etc. there are some matters which are not listed, but can be be quite crucial. The heaviest weapons, even if they don't do as much damage because of lack of upgrades, still can do things like easily flinching enemies, or even knocking them around (builds based on using heavy weapons and heavy armour are considered a bit OP in DS1, precisely because, when did properly, they allow the player to basically trade blows and win, even against bosses). There's also the thing about attacks being blocked - lighter weapons might bounce from a shield, exposing you, while massive weapons would not, and they might just break the guard or smash through it.
I never knew you could do that to the black knight😂
Bro you got a black knight great sword so early. That’s an insanely lucky drop . I didn’t get one until I opened the final area of the game . Was bullshit . That’s my favorite weapon in the game . It’s worth eventually getting your stats to the right place to wield that .
Ok, I swear I’ve already seen this
This series is fresh new one. The video you’ve watched was an approach we’ve decided to change.
@DeeBeeGeek ah ok, I'm not going crazy then ahahah
@@Choppeteno worries I’d be the same lol
Remember that Leeroy Jenkins reference for later.
So some non spoiler tips to help you out: when human you can kindle any bonfire to get more estus when you rest at that bonfire, for now it'll only be 10 but you can eventually get to 20. There's also 3 kinds of dodge rolls, fat normal and fast, fat being the slowest with the least amount of i-frames, there's a detailed way to figure out the weights and stuff (don't exactly remember how it works for dark souls 1 lol its been a while) but the best way to go is taking of armor until you roll quicker, and the more levels you put into endurance the more weight you can carry and the more and heavier your armor can be
yo you got the BKUG first try, was my first ever OP weapon drop in DS, its such a badass weapon
Great vid bro
how the hell is this level of underated ur channel is really good
Thank you 🥹
@@DeeBeeGeekur welcome
I want him to use the black knight sword just to see the gatekeepers mald
Watch out for the Gaping Dragon...
I'm so pumped for this series! I hope you play ds3 and bloodborne eventually too!
He's going through DS3 on twitch currently^^
It's such a joy seeing someone beat the Bell Gargoyles for the first time 👊😎
One of these times you will see a sign that says, "Illusionary Wall" and there really will be one and you will walk away from it not believing it. xD
i’ll patiently be with you until the DLC😂
Getting black knight great sword this early is a little crazy though
14:18 I can't even-
Also pro tip any dragon type enemy including the bell gargoyles are highly weak to lightning damage if you find any greases or faith spells utilizing it
AHAHAHAHAH BRILLIANT 4:40
36:45 the genuine git gud moment. For me it came much later in the game when I beat a certain DLC boss. I was so done with these I chose to call Solaire for them. After you understand the rhythym you realize how you can manipulate the AI to finish the fight in a couple of minutes. But you have to learn to play the game it wants you to play. Once you do that the game becomes infinitely easy except for a few later game areas where it gets difficult again but by that time you get used to the mechanics so well that you don't really feel it.
First Kingdom Hearts and now Soulsborne, what will be the next franchise Dee to become a fan??? 😏 (Prise the sun goddess Ōkami)
For real, the bell gargoyles are no joke. I died to them 37 times in my first playthrough, more than any other boss. And we could see DeeBeeGeek improving throughout the attempts. He stayed focus in a tense situation, learned to overcome a gank, and rang the bell. Victory Achieved.
I don’t know how far you are in your playthrough, but a word of advice: for some bosses, such as the gargoyles, it’s advantageous NOT to lock on. We believe in ya mate. Also excellent parrying.
I don't know if its too late at this point but when you two handed what actually happen is that your strength stat is up by 50% so you only need like 22 strength and when two handed it will become 33 and you can wield it with 2 hands.
"The Bell Ends" lol
cant wait for him to realize his mistake with the greatsword, hes gonna get his strength and dex up, sure, but he will need a bunch of endurance to not be a fat bastard with it, which means less points put into health, and less defence from needing lighter equipment.
the regular black knight sword is OP as hell and wouldve trounced the entire game for him, but using that heavy UGS early? im fine with this :D
Any boss that has a tail has a secret weapon inside the tail. Hidden mechanic
Primary rule of Souls games: Never run in front in panic. U are doubling ur danger since the enemies will chase u and u are going into an unknown area with more enemies. That results in a guaranteed death or atleast a few heart attacks 😂. Best way is retreat and try getting them one by one. This game will teach u all u ever need to know without actually telling u.
Okay, I think I'm going crazy but are the first 2 episodes "reuploads" I'm pretty sure they were uploaded some time before, but then again, maybe I'm just confusing those parts with the live streams/vods
Anyways, this was a super fun Dark Souls playthrough, inspired me to play it again, for the second time without cheeses and by defeating the one optional boss I missed from my original playthrough
It's been 10 minutes , where is the next part ??
Ahhh lads, it is time for another installment of the Dank Souls with Deebeedickens
33:00 did his chat kindle his bonfire a bunch for him?
Have fun with the Gargoyles
bro got the black knight greatsword so early, luckiest man alive
LMFAO THE BLACK KNIGHT
Wait, I remember the part with the black knight falling off the edge. Did something happen that these videos needed to be re-uploaded?
BTW (someone correct me if I'm wrong) I think if you go into another covenant without first leaving your current one that counts as a sin. So like make sure to first leave this one if you're to be joining another.
The funny part is, across the rest of Dark Souls 1 AND Dark Souls 2 he still did not suffer this much with basically any other boss after the Gargoyles.
STRONK! 🌟🐝🌟
stronk af boiiii
dont worry lad your gonna have a journey of not knowing WHERE THE HELL TO GO good luck 😋
He's surprisingly good with parries considering how bad he is with timing rolls XD It's the opposite for me.
