WTF is that French interpreter?! He didn’t give justice to France’s answer. He totally messed up!
Iris actually said: “I failed during my first year in medical school because I didn’t see my name on the passing list. So the very next day, I bought more books to study further. When you fail, you need to keep trying, as we all do.. If I don’t win tonight, I would still be honored to be a part of the top 3. Thankfully, the following year, I passed my first year in medicine!”

Thank you for your translation. Actually I do not understand French. As a medical doctor, only one word I heard from her was medicine. But I didn’t hear the word, medicine from the interpreter and I thought something went wrong by this interpreter. Anyway, her answer was the best and she deserved it. Congrats, Iris.
France's answer is the most relatable of the three, authentic. She answered directly and based on her own personal experience.

The "interpretiaton" of France's answer has almost NOTHING to do with what she really said. The so-called interpreter missed absolutely all the essential points she made. She talked about her exams in Med School which she thought that she had failed at first during her first year of studies as a medical student etc etc. This is OUTRAGEOUS! Imagine if Iris had lost the crown because some ignorant, incompetent, fake "interpreter" had not done their job properly. The so-called interpreter has a below-average understanding of French, I can't believe he got that job! This is a SCANDAL!!!
Fortunately for her she still won but that wasn't the case for Miss Universe Korea 2007 Lee Ha-nui (Honey), who dominated both Swimsuit and Evening Gown competitions, only to see her chances completely obliterated by her translator.

it's almost four years now, i am still inspired by france's answer.
France's answer is not purely intellectual,it's personal.It is not just a product of the mind but the product of real human-experience.And that's make her won.You don't have to be intelligent in answering the q and a but it should be true and authentic.

Instead of answering the question in first person Colombia chooses to pontificate and go off on a tangent. Just like Venezuela in 2013
She answered the question terribly. It made no sense at all.
Just by looking at Miss France her Aura and face looked so welcoming and very easy to be friends with. Her kindness and intentions and written all over her face, I get why she's miss universe 2016. Now I get how miss U org chooses the queens, not only through the content of their answers but as well as the sincerity the audience feels and the magic that's written all over their faces as if they are telling about a story and wants to rewrite the ending not to be in the lane of tragic but into a better and progressive one.
Reference is: Miss U, 2015,2016,2017,2019 and 2019; as you can see all of these candidates shares the same aura if you were able to notice it.
Gowns are similar but the gown of France took nearly 5 months to make
Being a Miss Universe doesnt mean u dont have to use an interpreter, or to be good at speaking english, its abt how well u can express your answer confidently and powerful, and how u present yourself in public and influence ppl. Everytime a Miss Universe wins, I dont judge them because they didnt use english in their answer. They are very confident, it is sometimes the interpreters fault because the interpreter did not translate it right or get the contestant's point. LOVE FOR ALL THESE BEAUTIFUL WOMEN. XOXO
i dont know why colombia was sadly surprised to be placed third in the end, i am a native spanish speaker and her answer did not make any sense to me, the interpreter did a great job with the translation ...

I'm late but I only realized now how beautiful France is. I love her answer! I don't even think it's an answer because it feels like she's telling her story and life experience. I remember watching this in 2016 and immediately turned-off my tv because I was upset Philippines never made it to the final 3. I just love France now!

@@absisfabs873 yes, when I was in Senior High School, I preferred French over Spanish, however when I worked in Cruise Ship, I had many Latinos friends and they taught me Spanish, and I found that knowing Spanish is much more beneficial in Cruise Ship since it's the second language in that industry. I now love traveling to Spanish speaking countries and it gives me a great chance to be promoted for higher position in my company.

Colombia kinda went off track. Haiti also answered well but France was the only one who actually answered the question even though her interpreter messed up, she still managed to put her point across.

Even though a France was going to win from the beginning. I think Haiti probably lost the crown for asking Steve to repeat the question, if she really wanted to hear it again/ think about her answer longer, she should have had the interpreter repeat the question. It wouldn’t have looked as bad.

Haiti just wanted to take longer time to answer it by asking to repeat the question. And actually earthquake is a natural disaster and it’s not the name she failed at. French gave a solid answer.

The translator of French didn't give justice to the answer of Iris. I'm a francophone, and the translator have give an answer very different to the original. And he doesn't even have the knowledge of the language. He was more stressed than Iris to translate. But thanks God, Iris won

Rewatching this coz I wasn’t able to watch it due to work schedule conflict, ghaaad ilang taon na rin bago ko pa napanood to 😂 . Colombia’s answer was good, she pointed out some examples where we really failed to accept someone based on her examples.

The Haiti answer is better than France
The judges clearly loved France. The interpreter didn't do a good job, but yet she won. However, someone who speaks French would agree that Iris' answer in French was much better than the translated version given by the interpreter. She said "medicine" but he said "casting".
Miss Colombia looks the best but she spoiled with that answer as well as Haiti.
