    Dave notes the voice acting in Arkham City is "all very professional", it sure is! That's because Kevin Conroy was involved and he's been the voice of Batman in cartoons and games since the 90's. Same with The Joker voiced by Mark Hamill and the legendary Tara Strong as Harley Quinn.

  • @LeviathanRX
    @LeviathanRX 5 лет назад +10

    Mutant Apocalypse is a Capcom game, that means Street Fighter style special moves (Like Hadouken for Cyclops Optic Blasts) It just required a bit of practice to master each character.
    Also the first set of levels count as the First Stage, once you clear that part you get a password and can move on to the rest of the game where you choose who to use each level and don't get a game over if one character falls.

    • @Pimpjira87
      @Pimpjira87 5 лет назад +4

      I also have idea how it could be said that the game doesn't have health pick-ups. The Gambit level is even shown in the gameplay footage and it would be hard to miss the health in it.

    • @LeviathanRX
      @LeviathanRX 5 лет назад

      And on top of all this you can cheese almost any fight with Beast, press down and attack in the air = infinite hop
      Easiest way to beat Magneto

  • @Dongled
    @Dongled 5 лет назад +5

    Just a heads up regarding Mutant Apocalypse:
    -Yes, there's plenty of health around in the game. In fact, i'm not sure how Dave or Joe or whoever wrote the script for this didn't see it, as every level they played had health pickups in it.
    -the way that the first go around of stages work is that you have to play through the first 5 stages with each X-Men character. Once you beat all 5 stages, you get a password to continue. Think of those stages like intro stages to the rest of the game.
    -learning the move sets and limitations of the characters would help you with playing the game. There's a down and Y move with Wolvie that would've allowed you to grab the X icon by the sentinel spine thingy.

    • @Bleusilences
      @Bleusilences 4 года назад

      You have to give that Mutant Apocalypse is genuinely hard and you have to play it a bit to finish the stages. War of the Gem is a better version of this game, even if they made it a bit too easy.

      A key point of the game I using the correct mutant for the level. For example, Gambit and Nightcrawler are good at level 2, they can somehow attack up through platforms. Cyclops is best used tactically as a distance fighter. Beast excels at boss battles due to his strength. Psylocke and Magneto are too slow and are useless.
      And Wolverine is the slugger.

    In spiderman the point of not being able to move while healing is a deliberate design choice, to be a risk/reward mechanic like for example healing with an estus flask in dark souls, where you can heal but you take the risk of opening yourself up to a worse attack. If you could just heal with no risk at all it'd absolutely ruin the difficulty balancing

    Mutant Apocalypse has passwords and health-up items. For passwords, you have to get passed that first batch of levels.
    For health-ups, you just have to get further than you did (or explore the levels more). Some of them aren't hard to find at all. I don't know how you could have missed the ones in Gambit's level.
    Try looking up a move list if you ever come back to that game. And you should. Cause you suck at it and need to get better.

NES is one of the last major consoles they never devoted an episode to so only a matter of time. Wii and GBA are two others that come to mind. My brother and I used to play the X-Men Genesis game ALL THE TIME. It was difficult and hard to control and frustrating, but we played the hell out of it nonetheless. It was pretty good co-op fun back in the day. Also, Nightcrawler could phase through walls and skip a LOT of any given level, which was always nice.

    You can't start talking shit about Mutant Apocalypse on SNES if you don't even know how to play. It's an awesome game, it has great controls and each character has many special moves that you can pull of using classic Street Fighter inputs (Wolverine even has a Shoryuken-like move). The icons for refilling your health are red containers with a black 'x' on it and you can get extra lifes by finding 3 blue x icons throughout a single level. Don't go misleading people away from good games just because you couldn't figure out how to play

      Oh and the password feature isn't broken. You just got to complete each character level (wich are fairly easy), after that you get you first password. After that ther are more levels and you can choose any of the characters to play them.

    I love that SNES X-Men game. X-Men 2 on the Genesis is a decent single player game, but co-op is pretty bad. There's slowdown the entire time and you have to get way too close to the edge of the screen before it will scroll, resulting in tons of cheap hits.

      Game Sack Genesis version is, yeah. SNES version is alright. X-Men 2: Clone Wars is just plain awesome. Hard as balls but awesome, same goes for mutant Apocalypse. The original Genesis X-Men was decent too. A longtime superhero fan - before it was chic, actually - I really enjoyed this episode. Was glad to see a Rocksteady Batman title featured but I have to highly recommend Sunsoft's NES Batman. Too date, one of my favorite video games of all time. Sunsoft's Genesis Batman and Konami's SNES Batman Returns are great plays as well. Most of Konami's 8 and 16-bit Batman entries are worth playing, to be honest. Capcom's X-Men and Marvel 2-D fighters are awesome too - avoid the PS2 ports though. Joe, you may like Ultimate Spider-Man if you like cell-shading - I'm sure it's a step back from PS4 Spider-Man but the Venom levels have something of a Hulk Ultimate Destruction vibe to 'em. X-Men Origins: Wolverine is the best Wolverine game I've played - the M-rated 360 and PS3 versions really let you cut loose. The X-Men Legends games are more-than-decent, Dave, and if you like them, the Marvel Ultimate Alliance spiritual sequels are worth a look.

    • @duffman18
      @duffman18 5 лет назад

      @@herbiehusker1889 not really. The superman movies were enormously successful and the first one is genuinely one of the best films ever made and so people watch it to this day. You had the very popular incredible hulk TV show in the 70s, the even more popular batman TV show of the 60s and so on. Its just a weird gatekeeping thing some comic fans like to do, a hipster attitude, like "I liked superheros _before_ they were popular" when in reality comics sales show they were always very popular, and the movies and TV show adaptations from the 1950s onwards show that too

    Didn't expect Dave to be so hard on Mutant Apocalypse. It's brutally hard for sure, but it's a very well made game. A fun time to be had for sure.
    Batman seems to have the best track record of video games by far. The original Batman on NES is my favorite, but the Genesis version is also quite good. Then there's Batman Returns on the Game Gear/Master System, which is a fun platformer, the SNES and NES versions, which are fantastic beat em ups, and the Sega CD version, which has fun driving stages. The Adventures of Batman and Robin was good on the Sega Genesis, CD and SNES. Batman Return of the Joker was great on the NES, with the Genesis version being shockingly awful. Superman on the Genesis is alright, the music is some of the best of any game, but damn is it hard. Captain America and the Avengers is probably one of the best 16-bit superhero games out there. Injustice and Injustice 2 are very top-notch fighters with a large roster of DC heroes and villains.
    My Hero One's Justice is probably outside the scope of what you're used to, but it's a superhero game and it's quite fun.
