FREEDIVING THE KONA COAST, HAWAII: Big Island Trip Day 1 & 3 - Dolphins, Mantas, Sharks, and Caves

Day 1 & 3 of my Big Island Trip. At the time of this trip inter island travel was allowed and cases were much lower. I decided to combine Day 1 and 3 of my Kona Freediving Adventure since they weren't as packed with wildlife as other days of the trip. Even though we didn't see as much these days they were still super fun and still full of dolphins, mantas, sharks, caves and more. I got lucky and had the best bottlenose dolphin encounter I've ever had on Day 3 and I had so much fun making new friends during our girls dive day on Day 1. Next weeks video is going to have even more epic wildlife so make sure you subscribe and turn on the notification bell so you don't miss it!

Hi, what’s the marpelagic environment? I’m not sure how to spell it so it’s at 5:18 roughly

The pelagic environment means open ocean. Animals that live in the open ocean tend to encounter people far less frequently as typically deeper pelagic zones tend to be farther from shore. Hawaii is a super cool location where the formation of the islands from volcanoes has created a very quick drop off leading to deeper waters slightly closer than in other parts of the world. Although we were still multiple miles offshore for most of these encounters.
