That SG looks VERY similar to my Biliie Joe Armstrong Les Paul Jr. Signature that came with a hard case I got a while ago. Two knobs, white, P-90, retro tuners, set neck with a different body shape. It was $549 USD at the time. (I love it)

    G'day Andy,
Yes, we old guitarists should support young and new/aspiring guitarists. A friend of mine has a 12yo son, who plays trumpet, & has already had a couple of "gigs" playing The Last Post on ANZAC Day, for his local Returned & Services League. My friend rang me up a month ago, asking me what I know about guitar amps, because his son wants to play guitar too, and he needed an amp. I told him about tube amps, solid state amps, and modelling amps, & chatted a bit about prices. It sounded like he had a new amp in mind, but it wasn't too good, so I offered to give his son an old Behringer 30W amp I had here. Then I asked what sort of guitar his son had, which was a Squier Strat. I think that you can't have a Strat by itself, so I just had to give him my old Squier Tele too. Whilst my mate was on his way, I grabbed the amp, a guitar lead, the Tele, gave the Tele one last hug, and put them all out to be picked up. My friend told me that his son was over the moon with his new(ish) gear. And, as much as I loved my old Tele, it was just more important for my friend's son have it, than it was for me to keep it.
But, this is the bit that you'll like.... Before the sun had gone down, I realised that I was down to only one Telecaster. So, in the last month, I have replaced the Tele that I had given away, bought another Tele that I have been lusting over for 8 months, and bought myself 15W Marshall Micro Stack.
Anyhow, I enjoyed your video, and had to respond to your request.
    Keep up the good work
    Andrew

Seeing a young artist get a signature is great imo, especially with how badly Gibson/Epiphone missed the boat in the 2000s, when guitar music was a big thing. Plus Epiphone hasn't had a good SG Jr. in quite awhile, and the lack of artist branding makes this one great, if you can get it.

Never heard of YungBlud or his music until I saw this guitar. I will say that my favorite guitar in my collection is my 2011 Gibson SG Junior. It is, acoustically, one of the loudest guitars I own and extremely resonant.
I purchased this guitar from Sweetwater, and I did it with some trepidation. Epiphones have been hit and miss with me: some sound good, some seem to resonate only from the bridge and have no soul when plugged in.
I received it today, and it surprised me. It is every bit as deeply resonant as my Gibson. I still need to set it up a little bit before I plug it in, but the exact reason I didn't buy a cheaper model is because they all tend to be a little dead to me.
This one also has CTS pots and electronics, so I expect it to sound halfway decent when I plug it in.
I think, for a signature model, and with a hard shell case, that the price is more than fair if it's a quality guitar.

Regarding the comparison between a Blackstar Debut and a Boss Katana, the former is a solid-state, analog amp with digital reverb while the latter is a digital modeler. Those who dislike modelers as much as I do would therefore want the Blackstar, though I would choose a Laney Ironheart (or Lionheart) Foundry or Orange Super Crush before buying anything from Blackstar due to their nearly 15 years of marketing hybrid amps as valve amps.

Sadly, I am a bit older than you and I checked out of mainstream music 30 years ago now. So, you have taught me something about the current scene. I reckon I am mostly ambivalent about Youngblood the artist but the fact that this is a signature guitar that's priced closer to 500 bucks than a thousand strikes me as a good thing that bucks recent trends. As for cultural significance and impact on young people wanting to pick up the instrument all I can say is I sure hope you're right. The ways in which money has been taken out of the music business has had this weird consequence of making young people seem to not really value music much anymore. At least the ones whom I have talked to about it. I haven't met any Youngblood fans but other than the Swifties I don't see a lot of folks that get into music like they once did. The loss of subcultures that were derived from music in particular seems very apparent to me_ but that's a much longer and different discussion for another time. Cheers

I'm gonna disagree a bit with the Yungblud epi. I never heard of him, because im old, but you know who is way more responsible for youngsters picking up the guitar that has an Epi signature model? Marty Schwartz. It is a bit more expensive, but you get a lot more for the price.
That said, if it's yungblud or MGK that will be the catalyst for them to pick up the guitar, I really don't mind. I just think there are better options on the market rn.

    • @Robstafarian

Do you mean the Epiphone Marty Schwartz ES-335? That is a US$900 guitar with a body which is probably too big for many adolescents (I am 5'8" at 40 years old.). I would recommend a PRS SE DGT at that price.

I liked the mosfet preamp design of Blackstar's Debut 50, but ultimately asked myself why in TF did they go with class D?!! Also the price. I mean, if Blackstar had went with class A/B for that price? I would of probably been all over it, but for the price of their new 100? One could easily fetch themselves a Katana 100 second hand for now, and then fetch another down the road for a super sweet dual amp stereo rig.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
As far as that Epiphone Junior?
What in the actual heck?! That price is ridiculous!
I've owned a Firefly double cut with a dog ear P90 that, after a Grover upgrade?
Was an insanely great guitar that originally only cost me $130!
    $600! Are you kidding me?!
I also owned one of the Iverness Green open pore dual P90 Epiphone SG models, and that guitar had some of the worst quality control I have ever seen.
Uneven frets. Scratchy pots. Tuning issues galore!
    No thank you Epiphone.
I'm pretty much exclusively a Squier man these days.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Why give up an analog circuit just because the power amp is Class D?

    • @EasyHeat
      @EasyHeat Месяц назад

@@Robstafarian Because an analog Mosfet or Jfet amp in a pedal stomp box could accomplish it better into the Power Amp In jack of a Katana for less investment. That's why.
If you don't understand? I honestly haven't the time to explain it to you. I suggest you Google it, and look at the schematics.
For large P.A. systems and compact yet LOUD Bass Amps?!
Class D can & does work fine.
At the expense of typically lower Ohms impedance ratings.
For guitarists however, who particularly do more than mere gained out, super loud, mid scooped, overly aggressive & binary percussive chug wankery?
Solid state Class A/B is (while clearly less energy efficient comparatively to D) far more superior.
Within terms of "feel" and overall amplified sound recreation anyways...
Although don't just take my word for it (even though I am a nationally published ASCAP union card holder and have ran live sound P.A.s for over 2 decades).
RUclips search Colin's "Science of Loud" channel for an affectively more detailed and in depth explanation between the differences in power amp classifications.
      For strictly electric guitar?
Class A or Class A/B running @ 8-16 Ohms output impedance is more or less considered ideal for an analog signal path.
Regardless if it's a solid state or all tube amp.
      Now,
      That being said?
Class D is becoming increasingly popular within the fully digital community of Fractal (I previously owned an FM3), Helix, Kemper, Neural, and so on...
Although then we are entering the realm of individual component emulation. Including power amp algorithms, and that's honestly opening up a whole other can of worms...
      ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
      Have a nice day.
      🙂
