And 3. Mark was saying he thinks Nate is two dimensional, however I think playing through 2-4 in their entirety definitely would change his mind on that.
Stefan Striegl yep plus they took the gunplay from the 2nd and put it in the game. So it plays a lot better and doesn't have the motion control bs from the original game.
I haven't watched Classic Game Room in forever, but that ending where he was repeating the names, had me in tears. That was so funny. Nice to be watching you again, Mark. I miss your sense of humor. The world is just too serious and i watch your videos and you always seem to be having a blast with the video games you are playing.
I never played any of the Uncharted games before, that was until I got my PS4. My parents got me Arkham Knight and the system bundled with one other game of my choice. I chose the bundle with this collection out of the bundles with shooter games. I played the first game before playing Batman, and it was a really awesome game with a variety of gameplay, well written plot, and perfect controls. I like the 2nd game more since it had more variety of locations and that hot Chloe. I played the first bit of 3 and I plan on finishing that one later on. I am definitely picking up 4 by the end of this year.
Watching this review having just come off of Uncharted 4, makes me realize how dated the original game is now. Even though this is the remastered PS4 version, which already looks better and runs smoother than the PS3 version. Uncharted 2 is where the series really hit its stride, that game still looks and plays amazingly.
+gvfc Another Fun Fact: This game was also designed by Mark Cerny. Who also worked on Sonic 2, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Ratchet and Clank, Jak & Daxter, and created Marble Madness at 17. Not a bad résumé.
The game is 9 years old, its a classic ;) Ive seen comparisons and Uncharted 1 has been given lots of extra attention. Face textures used to be very oily, but were changed to match closer to Uncharted 2/3. The game world is also fixed upon allot here and there and the textures have been bumped up quite a bit in quality. The resolution has gone from 720p to 1080p, but going from 30fps to 60fps is what really made the game feel allot greater to play this time around in my opinion. Same goes for the other 2 titles.
How do I buy games through the site like you are always mentioning? You should do a video about it for dummies that can't figure it out, like myself! :)
Awesome review! I have never played these games before so I got the remastered version and played them on my PS4. I made a review for each one of them and now I am editing my review for the fourth game of the series. I won't give spoilers for my Uncharted 4 review but all I will say is that you guys will really enjoy it! Definitely one of the best looking games of this generation! Keep up the awesome work!
4:50 "They just look a little bit sharper" Not so! They replaced much of the texture maps with the same assets used in the cut scenes, they have redone most of the lighting with more advanced dynamic lighting, and have completely redone the controls in the first game to match the much improved U2 & U3. He should have checked the list of changes before making this review...Also, Uncharted 4 is the final game in the series. This is NOT a spoiler by the way, Naughty Dog has said this from the start. Also... it IS called "A Thief's End" so...Yeah
I actually really enjoy the environmental traversal stuff, more so in games like this than things like Assassins Creed, which have made the climbing simpler and simpler in each game, so you no longer feel like your working out how to get up something and just spidermanining up walls.
To play A Thief's End without experiencing the first 3 (and even Golden Abyss) is just downright criminal. :( You really go on an adventure with these characters, the the review of the final game won't really be a good reflection of that.
Uncharted 4 is my favorite of all 4 games. The game actually took time to tell the story, without relying all the time in action and explosions. The pacing was perfect in my opinion. The puzzles were the most challenging and creative in the series. The action felt much better and there are tons more of platforming to do in order to progress in the story. 1. UC 4 2. UC 2 3. UC 3 4. UC 1
I never had ps3 so I just bought this collection for ps4 and finished u1 normal within a day and u2 hard within 2 days and so far 2 is far the best but 1 was good too can't wait to finish 3 hard just to try u4 and play crash easter egg lol
I gotta say holy shit, the comment section for this is amazing. Everyone's super respectful. It's almost as if it's populated by adults instead of 12 year olds.
I just got done with the PS3 version and i regret not playing it earlier. All I could think the whole time playing was that this is just like an Indiana Jones game should be.
I don't mean to hate but Mark's reviews strike me as really shallow at times. It's just that certain games fare better to his approach than others. The show has always been about the style and the sense of humor primarily and that's alright. I just can't ignore the feeling that he doesn't do some games justice. I'm not talking about Uncharted 1 in particular. I hope I don't get too much flak for this. I've followed CGR more or less regularly since 2009 and I still enjoy it in healthy doses.
***** I see. Well, his videos are certainly fun which is the main reason I watch them. I love his sense of humor. I love seeing what sort of obsolete tech he'll come across next even though I'm not so much into retro gaming myself. My issue is that if a game is trying to be something more complex than, say, EDF, he tends to scratch only the surface of it. It's just like you say - he basically explains whether he enjoyed a game or not. There's nothing wrong with that. It's always been his way. However, my taste in video game criticism has changed over the years and some things bother me which didn't before. For instance, the fact that he didn't bother to look up some technical details about the Uncharted ports on PS4. Or that he usually doesn't go into specifics about game play mechanics or characters. Not that he doesn't mention such things but he does so in a sort of vague and generalised manner. "Looks good, plays good, great production values" - sounds familiar? So, you see, it's my expectations that have changed, not his way of doing things. At least you can always trust that his opinion is always his true and honest opinion. My taste in games doesn't completely coincide with his but I've learned enough about him over the years to be able to draw conclusions. I hope this answers your question and sorry for the extra long post.
I completely agree, I've been watching CGR for a while now but in the past 2 years the quality of the reviews have really been declining. Every review seems like a bit of a ramble with the same things being repeated over and the plot of the game used as filler for the review. I mean from this review all I've gathered was that the story was interesting and the graphics are good. I get the sense that Mark can't be bothered anymore and is more focused on other content such as drawing. For example compare this review to his review of San Andreas and you can really see the difference. The San Andreas review was really well edited and seemed much more enthusiastic than any of his latest reviews.
Dwelling on irrelevant things (Drakes hair, not being able to blow stuff up in a car game, etc) is what really bogs down his reviews lately in my opinion
+King Harkinian Contrary to popular internet opinion, I really enjoyed Golden Abyss. The gyro controls worked great for fine tuning your aiming and getting headshots too. I actually wish they added that option to the console versions.
I've been a fan of CGR for many years (including buying their best of blu ray) but this has to be the most disappointed I've been with one of Marks reviews. Maybe that's my bias towards the Uncharted series coming through since I love the series so much. I can't tell. This review felt like Mark was reviewing a game that he can take or leave. He doesn't like it that much nor dislike it. His comments on the game never got further than "it's good" and seemed really devoid of details. Then I watched his review of Alien on the Atari 2600 moments later. And that review, given it's a game he clearly enjoys personally, was full of humour, enthusiasm and he talked extensively about the good points of the game. And I really loved that review. Something still just doesn't sit right with me about this Uncharted review, though.
Nathan Drakes Hair should have knocked a chunk out of the wall in that last scene! Also, I think he sold his personality on eBay and used it to buy a plastic wig.
I'll say it... I like 3 more. Sure, 2's narrative is better... but that monastery sequence drags on for far too long. And the Lazarevic fight is just awful. 3 offers more variety in terms of locations, and they never overstay their welcome. Plus, the final fight with Talbot is way more thrilling than playing sap tag with Lazarevic. Also, I love how you have Sully shouting about Nate's penchant to destroy everything he touches as Iram crumbles to pieces around them all because of three bullets.
I've been an Uncharted fan since day one and I gotta say, the 3rd was one of the most disappointing moments in my 35 year gaming life. I've grown to enjoy it more through the years. But, it was way too damn short and felt like it was shoved out the door so Naughty Dog could move onto other things (aka - The Last of Us).
+DNAngel Understandable. But I played Uncharted 1 the day it dropped so I guess I'm just a little biased towards that one over 3, especially the story. I just think it's hard to play all these games and not walk away with 2 or 4 being the favorite. But everyone's different.
T. Riley Roo Uncharted 2 is definitely my favourite. I've played abit of 4 and am really digging it so far, could potentially be the best in the series.
***** I'm not crying and please don't misunderstand me, I'm just asking, there's also videogames from other companies that I'm willing to know about from Mark. If it's not a classic game then is all about psvita and Ps4 games and tbh some of them are not interesting at all.
He recently got into a bitter feud with SEGA over the lack of 32X backwards compatibility on the Dreamcast and is now favoring Sony to stick it to them.
Well it's an old game... Great games, but, the games get better. It's like playing asummer blockbuster game. This is why I enjoy Tomb Raider, more jumping adventure.
His hair gets wet in Uncharted 4 haha! xD Man you need to play the other 3 games as well; they each get better and better! and I love the platforming lol I don't find anything about Uncharted boring.
just playing through Drakes Fortune now. I realise this game has been out for some time now, but the controls in this game are absolutely awful. reminds me of Resident Evil: Directors Cut, from back when i was a kid!

+Ramsfan09 I played all 4 games in the past days. For me 2>4>3>1. For me, is pretty overrated as game. All seems just generic and mediocre. Anyway, this is my opinion. But I know, Sony fanboys kids, don't give a fu*k about opinion of other people. You are forced to like the game, or shitstorm incoming.
Marco Ak Yeah that's the Internet for you lol. I love them all, but I do respect your opinion. My only question is if you think the series is mediocre, then why would you go through the trouble of playing all 4 of them? Sounds like a drag to me.
You should definitely play Uncharted 2 before you play Uncharted 4, if you have the time
And 3. Mark was saying he thinks Nate is two dimensional, however I think playing through 2-4 in their entirety definitely would change his mind on that.
And Golden Abyss on Vita :) .
It's an amazing remaster so much work was done for the graphics. Plus the shooting is much improved over the ps3 version.
+yodagamer1 is it 60 fps?
Stefan Striegl yep plus they took the gunplay from the 2nd and put it in the game. So it plays a lot better and doesn't have the motion control bs from the original game.
+Stefan Striegl Yes.
No more L1 R1 shooting yay :)
MrSlashStudios A critical improvement.
I think Mark spent the entire review playing Crash Bandicoot
I haven't watched Classic Game Room in forever, but that ending where he was repeating the names, had me in tears. That was so funny. Nice to be watching you again, Mark. I miss your sense of humor. The world is just too serious and i watch your videos and you always seem to be having a blast with the video games you are playing.

Fun fact: the guy who worked on the level design for Uncharted is the same who did level design for Sonic 1 and 2.

LemonSlice Well, if you want to be technical, yeah. But, he still had a hand in the design process. So, totally counts......(I hope he bought it.)
Wow. I literally just finished the game tonight and wanted to see other's opinions on the game and here was your review Mark! Lucky me.
Which one should I get first? This collection, 4 or The Lost Legacy?
The game is 9 years old, its a classic ;) Ive seen comparisons and Uncharted 1 has been given lots of extra attention. You should do a review on Uncharted 2 on classic game room mark

Mark, you should really consider playing 2 and 3 first before taking a shot at 4, but not only that 2 is INCREDIBLE compared to the first game.

this made me really happy :)

mark please review DOOM, u'll LOVE IT, it's old school to the bone plus nextgen gfx
2:43
if you mean climbing and jumping I do
but opening a door I don't mind it
I bought the collection disc this week for 20$ and proud
In terms of this franchise, I've really only played Golden Abyss. I do own the second game too, so I should probably play it or something.
+King Harkinian Contrary to popular internet opinion, I really enjoyed Golden Abyss. The gyro controls worked great for fine tuning your aiming and getting headshots too. I actually wish they added that option to the console versions.
I didn't use the gyro, but I really enjoyed the game too. Definitely a must-own for the Vita.
+King Harkinian mah boi, this game is what all true gamers strive for!
They made game play improvements too not just better graphics or performance
Play the Remastered version and then the original PS3 version. You will be shocked at the difference a faster and smoother frame rate make
I grew up with a dude named Landon Ellerbe. I wonder if it's the same dude lol.
Nice! My PSN made a cameo... You beat my grenade kills (my PSN is pixelheap). Fine job Mark!

Nathan Drakes Hair should have knocked a chunk out of the wall in that last scene!
Also, I think he sold his personality on eBay and used it to buy a plastic wig.
You're on twitch? Username?
I dont like that last big shoot out,its RAGE inducing!
I thought cgr closed down?
Nice!
Too bad video not in 60 fps..
I'll say it... I like 3 more.

+T. Riley Roo Uncharted 3 is still better than Uncharted 1 imo. The airplane sequence is what elevates the game.

Nathan Drake is more than "somewhat likable". He's one of the most likable and beloved video game characters of the last decade.
The shootout after you discovered the crashed plane in the jungle was annoying as HELL!
+Charlie Athan I agree!
I like the part where he talks about Nathan Drake's hair. i.e. the entire runtime.
games for sale on your store? where?
+nuketowncity I'm with ya man. I can't figure it out either.
+Joe Snes Perhaps the "buy on eBay" link is referred to him so he gets a few pennies if you end up buying or something.
game.com is life!
Best review channel
Why is Mark only reviewing Playstation games?
Because Playstation has the best games.
***** I'm not crying and please don't misunderstand me, I'm just asking, there's also videogames from other companies that I'm willing to know about from Mark.
If it's not a classic game then is all about psvita and Ps4 games and tbh some of them are not interesting at all.
pr0xy Mark doesn't review games for their quality, He reviews everything.
He recently got into a bitter feud with SEGA over the lack of 32X backwards compatibility on the Dreamcast and is now favoring Sony to stick it to them.
+Jorge Gómez I was kidding guy.
You forgot to mention the 60 fps :)
Love you Mark, but come on man, Uncharted came out 6 days after Assassin's Creed, how would they TAKE anything from that game?
I'd say play all three Uncharted games before U4. Uncharted 2 is a big leap forward from Uncharted 1 and is considered the best in the series.
*Classic Game Room - Killing Floor 2 review*
You seriously never played this until now? In 2016?
Honestly out of all the uncharted games I think number 1 is the worst to me the others were all a lot more fun especially 2 and 4
uncharted 3 is my favorite
Listening to you talk reminded me why I hated William Shatner
I haired you like _Uncharted_
I miss Who Defeatz
just playing through Drakes Fortune now. I realise this game has been out for some time now, but the controls in this game are absolutely awful. reminds me of Resident Evil: Directors Cut, from back when i was a kid!
This was the very first PS3 game i ever played.Never liked the the first game at all. To me it felt like a decent concept, but the gameplay was MEH to me.
+Michael Gleich Isn't this just a 'HD' port? Are these really remasters? I assumed these collections were purely ports.
It's ridiculous how Tomb Raider franchise owners gave up their ground so fast and easily.
Uncharted series seems like what TR should have been grown into.
But U lacks the easy-playing feel to it, and TR lacks everything...
+N1GHT5 Tomb Raider is way better than Uncharted, but they are different games,i like Uncharted but for different reasons lol.
+Tim Tam's
You're on coke. Uncharted 2, 3, and 4 are way above TR.
Maybe name your channel, OldGameRoom
Woooohohohohooo!!!
that you tube money is like coke 😤😂😂😂😂
So after watching this review, Im scared to watch any of your other reviews, since you put HUGE spoilers in your reviews. Cant believe you showed footage of the zombie/monsters.
i hope doom is on its way
Just finished the first one and have to say its one of the most overrated games I have ever played, couldn't wait for it to be over
hell no, you're going through two and three! especially two! !
You gonna do DOOM?
Mark thinks Uncharted 4 is exactly the same? Ok then....
I think I'm the only person who thought uc3 was better than uc2
I quit UC3 after 1.5 hours because it was boring as fuck
+MrSlashStudios You missed out, the beginning is a little slow, but it really ramps up and never stops, I would recommend you start it back up.
Tool0GT92 Thanks for the recommendation!
I think I'll wait until I buy a PS4 and play it on the remastered version which should help a bit.
awesome
You used to do better than this, CGR.
I'm so sick of these FUCKING KLONDIKE COMMERCIALS!
This wasn't that great of a review which is kinda shocking, it isn't slightly better then the original either compare the two. But if you can play through all of them, less on the hair too it didn't work well. This felt rushed and halfassed.
Nathan Drake uninteresting? What is this blasphemy that you speak of
Uncharted 2, just finished it today. Man that game went to shit after a while. That last 4/5 chapters are pretty awful.
Not really bad, just fucking frustrating. Especially the final boss
Tommygfool It is a shame really. Up until that tank scene, the game was great.
Couldn't get into these games, just found them pretty boring.
definitely have the right to your own opinion but I feel for your significant other. Must be pretty difficult to excite you.
T. Riley Roo Just not a big fan of cover shooters never was.Get bored a few hours in every time.
***** I just don't like the genre, felt the same about Gears Of War and Quantum Break and Tomb Raider
+drseussisdeaddd Try The Last of Us Remastered. It's a slower-paced game with a great story.
DNAngel I have tried it
3 yo easy puzzles, climbing simulator, poor story, poor caracters and fanboys, many... many... fanboys
LoL love the video
Uncharted 1 is so bad nowadays. The only good game of old serie, is U2.
Lies. lol
+Marco Ak I really liked 3 but 2 is definitely better and maybe because I just finished it recently and it's fresh but Uncharted 4 is my favorite.
+Ramsfan09
I played all 4 games in the past days.
+Luke Pike Hype for 4, I guess. And the small lenght of every game. If every uncharted needed 20-30-40 hrs, I wouldn't have completed.
