"Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" came with the PS3 that my brother and I purchased together, and it was amazing. When I first saw it, I was a bit skeptical considering adventure games weren't for me back then, but because of this franchise, they are now.
My only problems are the jet-ski controls (it's fine because you only have to do it twice) and the puzzle in the library. That still makes no sense to me to this day.

I found this frustrating until someone told me that you can just autofire without stopping and Elena is extremely accurate at taking the barrels out. Makes the whole level so much easier and such a smoother experience.
I couldn't agree more with your review. Some parts were frustrating, but the good vastly outweigh those, and I ended up considering it one of my favorites.
Just beat it! I enjoyed it, I played the remastered version on PS4 it seems like they did a very good job with the graphics from a 2007 game started playing the second one, hooked

Am I the only one who found this game quite frustrating? Like having to drive that jet-ski and shoot the gun at the enemies and barrels at the same time. Just beat the ps4 remastered version. It was good, if you like Indian Jones and or Tomb Raider, then I recommend playing it. And there's decent replay value cuz you can unlock bonuses and stuff, character skins , etc. So it's pretty cool.
I only just recently competed the first game four times in a row followed by the sequel. Such a classic game and is so much *fun!* It also helped me cope while my dog, Merlin was ill and then passed away soon after. 💕

I have the remastered edition for all three of the "Uncharted" games in one on my PS4, and I gotta say, for me, the gameplay controls were a little stubborn sometimes like you said, but still since I pay attention to the story and plotline, it doesn't compromise the fact that it had great characters, really fun and enjoyable scenes within it, the graphics were really good on the PS4 and best of all, it had some really hard puzzles in the game, for me, at least. They were challenging, I gotta say, although I happen to cheat on one puzzles to get it right, just one. But still, that doesn't mean that this game is horrible or anything. It was really fun. I give it a 4 out of 5. Cannot wait to see what "Uncharted 2: Among Thieves" is going to be like on the PS4, it's going to be awesome. But, yeah, very nice review, Jeremy.
Fun fact Jeremy: The devs have said that the Firefly guy WAS there bases for Drake, not only that, but the guy who wrote the Firefly music did the music for Uncharted.
Idk if it's just me, but uncharted drake's fortune felt alot more frustrating to play than it should have. Some obstacles and areas for me felt so frustrating to try and navigate and figure out how to do, example being, the generator room. I walked around for many minutes inside trying to figure out what in the world I was supposed to do, until I gave in and searched a walk through, and upon seeing what I was supposed to do, I felt so mad. The enemies also felt pretty bs to fight at times. I would shoot an enemy around 8 times and see them fall back and flinch, and then 2 seconds later see back up like nothing ever happened to them, this was on normal mode btw. There were also times where you just turn the corner and get immediate blasted in the face by a shotgun and die. The part where you had to ride up stream on a jetskee while avoiding exploding barels and shooting enemies genuinely felt clunky awful and frustrating. I feel with the many acasion that I had to search walk throughs to progress and the amount of times I felt frustrated by the gameplay, especially at the end, left me feeling unsatisfied after completing the game. I will say however that I did still overall like the game and enjoyed playing it at times, especially the part where you were in the back of a jeep shooting enemies that were chasing after you in motorcycles. Overall id give the game a 7/10. Alot of what was keeping me even wanting to play it was the story which I geuss is a really good thing, and the visuals were very nice as well.

well that's crazy because today is the first day i've ever played an uncharted game, and it was the first one, and i beat it in one 7 hour sitting, the story was that addictive. i never care or even follow the story in games, and this one made me glued to my controller wanting to know what happens next. i love this game, i will start the 2nd one tomorrow.
+Zeik War Yea, the game is pretty repetitive in the first half of the game. But the last half is very good with new enemy types and story stuff. The sequels are better in every format.
I actually got a PS3 to play Valkyria Chronicles. I plan on doing an LP for the game, so I've been playing games like Uncharted too re-familarize myself with the Playstation controller and all that. All in all, I really like the game. It's got a nice epic feel too it.

you seem to be forgetting the Wave Runner and Machine Gun Jeep sections also the puzzles, and you can't compare the 1st game to the second 2 and say it sucks its older and they improved over time its still a great game with a good Story

@zarbon700 xbox spec wise cannot run native 1080p? uncharted 2 looked better on my 1080p tv than mass effect 2 did when i had my xbox, but different games mean different developers it depends on how they make it, multiplatform games do generally look better on xbox

Uncharted Drake’s Fortune is so good, I loved the island, Nate, Sully and Elena were all great characters, Eddy Raja was a really cool character, it was great to see him and Nate team up towards the end, the story was good, lots of fun action and exploration along with a great sense of mystery throughout the game, the Descendants, especially the Bunker section was really well done, great game still enjoy replaying it 👏👏👏👏
Love Uncharted. It's the reason I bought a PS3. Funny enough that everyone mentions Captain Mal from Firefly. While Nathan Fillion doesn't do the voice, the guy who made the music for Firefly does in fact make the music for the Uncharted series. It's a near perfect game, with the only problems being that the camera gets into poor places sometimes, and the gun mechanics have gotten a little dated. Even so, those problems were all fixed in Uncharted 2. Best current gen franchise.
+Bat Fan Which parts are you referring to? They definitely improved the visuals and the performance a lot, and the combat mechanics have been tightened and refined, but I'm not aware of them removing any parts from it. The only feature that was removed was SIXAXIS control when balancing on logs.

@123312ERDF Ooooh, well luckily in Uncharted 3 they're changing how you run. Which is good because online gameplay is a bit annoying when you can't sprint.
I love the game, story and characters. But two things REALLY pissed me off: 1. The Jet ski portions You either floor the accelerator or you are parked (this made everything else more difficult). The damn things were nearly impossible to control so you run into the barrels really easily. But if you want to shoot the barrels, you have to stop the jet ski, sending you back down river. All the while people shoot at you with grenade launchers from both sides of the river. All the while there is hardly any cover to get behind. 2. The final two chapters (gameplay-wise) This is more specifically for the last chapter. You run out of ammo extremely quickly, the main enemy has an instant kill weapon, all the "grunt" enemies have helmets so you can't one-shot-head-shot them, not to mention the sheer number of enemies, and your cover eventually disappears. I had to do this section SO MANY TIMES!!! After 15-20 attempts, I called it quits and lowered the difficulty so I could ACTUALLY finish the game and move on to Uncharted 2. However I do still like the game ALOT. Its just those last 2 areas that really piss me off

I have both Uncharted games and OMG I love them all. Especially looking at how good Uncharted 3 is, -drools- I agree, Uncharted 1 ain't as good as I expected but Uncharted 2 is awesome and Uncharted 3...well, let the trailer speak for itself: 'Keep it steady!' -Jumps on a giant plane wheel as it's about to take off- EPIC.
A great honest review. I can't wait for uncharted 3. I've completed 1 and 2 on crushing difficulty and I will be doing the same with 3. I want that platinum so badly.
I really enjoyed the story, I’m doing a 100% trophy run of the PS4 remastered version. I hear that the ps3 version had a little bit of an uncanny valley situation with their character models, but I’ll vouch for the beautiful textures and color pallets of the remastered game. I’d recommended a play through of it to any PS owner, for sure.
I only just picked up Uncharted 1 and 2, what a weird coincidence. Games were a lot of fun, first one was pretty cool but the second was mind blowing. First game EVER that made me feel like I was taking part in an 1930-40 action film without just going the easy route of quick time events.
A.H.K at least those monsters (they are called descendents, they were the Spanish who originally discovered the treasure) mixed up the gameplay and gave the story an extra twist/suprise!

ok people are saying skip the first one, i would say still play it because it gives you good background on the characters and it kinda makes the second one that much better. kinda supprised it wasnt an uncharted1/2 review, hopefully we can get that and then one of 3 later this year.

You should have just called it a movie review. Same for 2 and 3 seeing as how these are the most cinematic games out there. And also, you should play and review Heavy Rain, which is also extremely cinematic as well.
Uncharted 2 is probably the best game the PS3 has in its exclusive library. The best way I can describe it is like watching the original star wars trilogy. The first one laid the road down for an epic story. And the second one took everything to another level.
Everyone who got the nathan drake collection should just start with the second and third game than go back and play the first one only if you really want to.
I've had so many moments where I jump and totally fail, but still a good game. Felt they should have changed up the gameplay a little more in some levels but Naughty Dog games are excellent (love the Jak series!). Excited for the second one! Good review, however I wish you would have shown footage from the game, as it makes it easier to understand your criticisms or in general what you are discussing. Just wanted to offer some constructive criticism. Oh, but Indy 4 is underrated.
I actually bought the game a few months ago when I bought my PS3, and it's unbelievably fun. And yes, I'm also a Firefly fan, and Nathan Fillion should be Nathan Drake and blah, blah. But the game is actually challenging, oddly enough. The firefight stuff wears a bit thin, but it's still fun, and I cannot wait to play Uncharted 2.

considering Halo switched developers when they made Halo 4, i think it's safe to say that there are major amounts of improvements (and differences) from Reach. and it's a lot different from CoD, obviously. and i wouldn't say Uncharted is the superior franchise, but it's a good contest.
The uncharted series is one of my favourites by far love both of the games and cannot wait until the third one comes out!!!! people keep hating on the first one saying that you should get the second only. I don't think so both games are awesome and both won game of the year awards in the respective years they came out so that's saying a lot

But for your mutual counter-argument "story" I'd just like to point out that the story of the Uncharted franchise very loosely connects the different games (if at all). It doesn't have an over-arching plot across any of the iterations. That is why it is redundant to be familiar with the story of the first Uncharted game.
@SillyJericho I see your point but... well I still sorta stand by my original statement, with the exception that I realize my comparison is just a bit... okay, strike a bit, it's highly unfair. I guess it'd be more like Spiderman vs. the latest in Batman. Obviously, Spiderman is Halo, etc. Spiderman was okay, it sold well, and (here's the point) it got the Super Hero Movie ball rolling. It wasn't amazing, but it was good. Like Uncharted, The Dark Knight perfected the SH movie.
Funny because the end of Uncharted 2 made me feel the same way. In fact the last time I played it I only played right up to the last fight and then I quit because I just don't like it and I already knew how the game ended. Never played the first one but I keep eyeing it on the used shelf at Game Stop. But Uncharted 2 was fantastic, except for the end.
One of the most briliant games I've ever had the pleasure of playing and becoming a fan of on the next-gen consoles. Its even more fantastic that the sequal managed to blow it out of the water! UNCHARTED 3 baby!

Yep, it was great fun. The ending was a bit easy compared to those nasty monsters 3/4 of the way through (shiver!).

I just bought Uncharted this past saturday, played it like no one's business yesterday, and am now almost done. Helluva weekend. It is fun.

Uncharted Drake’s Fortune is so good, I loved the island, Nate, Sully and Elena were all great characters, Eddy Raja was a really cool character, it was great to see him and Nate team up towards the end, the story was good, lots of fun action and exploration along with a great sense of mystery throughout the game, the Descendants, especially the Bunker section was really well done, great game still enjoy replaying it 👏👏👏👏
Love Uncharted. It's the reason I bought a PS3. Funny enough that everyone mentions Captain Mal from Firefly. While Nathan Fillion doesn't do the voice, the guy who made the music for Firefly does in fact make the music for the Uncharted series. It's a near perfect game, with the only problems being that the camera gets into poor places sometimes, and the gun mechanics have gotten a little dated. Even so, those problems were all fixed in Uncharted 2. Best current gen franchise.
it's 2015 and just got this game. the graphics are amazing but the screen tearing is a little annoying. awesome game

+Bat Fan Which parts are you referring to? They definitely improved the visuals and the performance a lot, and the combat mechanics have been tightened and refined, but I'm not aware of them removing any parts from it. The only feature that was removed was SIXAXIS control when balancing on logs.
Are you sure? I never noticed this, and I remember reading an article where they spoke about not changing the jetski sequences.
the director (david o russell) who cast wahlberg backed out, meaning wahlberg is out too. neil burger signed to direct and i believe, but im not positive that he is considering nathan fillion.
@123312ERDF Ooooh, well luckily in Uncharted 3 they're changing how you run. Which is good because online gameplay is a bit annoying when you can't sprint.
I love the game, story and characters.
But two things REALLY pissed me off:
1. The Jet ski portions
You either floor the accelerator or you are parked (this made everything else more difficult). The damn things were nearly impossible to control so you run into the barrels really easily. But if you want to shoot the barrels, you have to stop the jet ski, sending you back down river. All the while people shoot at you with grenade launchers from both sides of the river. All the while there is hardly any cover to get behind.
2. The final two chapters (gameplay-wise)
This is more specifically for the last chapter. You run out of ammo extremely quickly, the main enemy has an instant kill weapon, all the "grunt" enemies have helmets so you can't one-shot-head-shot them, not to mention the sheer number of enemies, and your cover eventually disappears. I had to do this section SO MANY TIMES!!! After 15-20 attempts, I called it quits and lowered the difficulty so I could ACTUALLY finish the game and move on to Uncharted 2.
However I do still like the game ALOT. Its just those last 2 areas that really piss me off

I have both Uncharted games and OMG I love them all. Especially looking at how good Uncharted 3 is, -drools- I agree, Uncharted 1 ain't as good as I expected but Uncharted 2 is awesome and Uncharted 3...well, let the trailer speak for itself: 'Keep it steady!' -Jumps on a giant plane wheel as it's about to take off- EPIC.
A great honest review. I can't wait for uncharted 3. I've completed 1 and 2 on crushing difficulty and I will be doing the same with 3. I want that platinum so badly.
I really enjoyed the story, I’m doing a 100% trophy run of the PS4 remastered version. I hear that the ps3 version had a little bit of an uncanny valley situation with their character models, but I’ll vouch for the beautiful textures and color pallets of the remastered game. I’d recommended a play through of it to any PS owner, for sure.
I only just picked up Uncharted 1 and 2, what a weird coincidence. Games were a lot of fun, first one was pretty cool but the second was mind blowing. First game EVER that made me feel like I was taking part in an 1930-40 action film without just going the easy route of quick time events.
Too much gun fights... and I hate those monster/human guys. Freaked me out.
A.H.K at least those monsters (they are called descendents, they were the Spanish who originally discovered the treasure) mixed up the gameplay and gave the story an extra twist/suprise!
@jeremyjahns literally JUST finished drakes fortune for the first time 2 weeks ago and then RIGHT after went and got uncharted 2, which i finished last thursday lmao. wut a coincidence that youre reviewing theses games RIGHT after i beat both them :P :D
ok people are saying skip the first one, i would say still play it because it gives you good background on the characters and it kinda makes the second one that much better. kinda supprised it wasnt an uncharted1/2 review, hopefully we can get that and then one of 3 later this year.
uncharted damn I am going to mis you guys after part 4. Naughty dog is making the last uncharted part. If it was up to me they could make like 1000 uncharted games.

You should have just called it a movie review. Same for 2 and 3 seeing as how these are the most cinematic games out there. And also, you should play and review Heavy Rain, which is also extremely cinematic as well.

Uncharted 2 is probably the best game the PS3 has in its exclusive library. The best way I can describe it is like watching the original star wars trilogy. The first one laid the road down for an epic story. And the second one took everything to another level.

Everyone who got the nathan drake collection should just start with the second and third game than go back and play the first one only if you really want to.

I've had so many moments where I jump and totally fail, but still a good game. Felt they should have changed up the gameplay a little more in some levels but Naughty Dog games are excellent (love the Jak series!). Excited for the second one! Good review, however I wish you would have shown footage from the game, as it makes it easier to understand your criticisms or in general what you are discussing. Just wanted to offer some constructive criticism. Oh, but Indy 4 is underrated.
I got this game with my PS3 collection. I liked it a lot, minus some cheap gun battles. I'm excited to start playing 2 & 3 :)

I actually bought the game a few months ago when I bought my PS3, and it's unbelievably fun. And yes, I'm also a Firefly fan, and Nathan Fillion should be Nathan Drake and blah, blah. But the game is actually challenging, oddly enough. The firefight stuff wears a bit thin, but it's still fun, and I cannot wait to play Uncharted 2.

considering Halo switched developers when they made Halo 4, i think it's safe to say that there are major amounts of improvements (and differences) from Reach. and it's a lot different from CoD, obviously. and i wouldn't say Uncharted is the superior franchise, but it's a good contest.

The uncharted series is one of my favourites by far love both of the games and cannot wait until the third one comes out!!!! people keep hating on the first one saying that you should get the second only. I don't think so both games are awesome and both won game of the year awards in the respective years they came out so that's saying a lot

True, I got over 10 of them right away... But for your mutual counter-argument "story" I'd just like to point out that the story of the Uncharted franchise very loosely connects the different games (if at all). It doesn't have an over-arching plot across any of the iterations. That is why it is redundant to be familiar with the story of the first Uncharted game.

@SillyJericho I see your point but... well I still sorta stand by my original statement, with the exception that I realize my comparison is just a bit... okay, strike a bit, it's highly unfair. I guess it'd be more like Spiderman vs. the latest in Batman. Obviously, Spiderman is Halo, etc. Spiderman was okay, it sold well, and (here's the point) it got the Super Hero Movie ball rolling. It wasn't amazing, but it was good. Like Uncharted, The Dark Knight perfected the SH movie.
Funny because the end of Uncharted 2 made me feel the same way. In fact the last time I played it I only played right up to the last fight and then I quit because I just don't like it and I already knew how the game ended. Never played the first one but I keep eyeing it on the used shelf at Game Stop. But Uncharted 2 was fantastic, except for the end.
One of the most briliant games I've ever had the pleasure of playing and becoming a fan of on the next-gen consoles. Its even more fantastic that the sequal managed to blow it out of the water! UNCHARTED 3 baby!

Uncharted is my favorite game series in recent years. They are incredibly well thought out and extremely fun games!
